I love the tone. It's still clean and articulate, but with a little growl. Reminds me of Ritchie Blackmore, but with tighter playing.
man this dude is utterly insane on the guitar....just too good, too good!
People are going crazy over the sound, but honestly, it's not just the Fender, it's also the Bonamassa. 🤔
He really should play that 51 more often. It sounds killer!
Best I ever saw him play.
More, more, more! I enjoy Joe more when he's playing clubs like this. So raw! I play in gigs like this and Joe has to make money to quench his thirst for vintage gear. Norm (Rare Guitars) and Joe share the same passion and love for music. I feel in my spirit to pray for Norm, I don't think he's back 100% yet. Maybe if you can too if you love Norm as Joe does. Together they put out great UA-cam content.
To sit that close to joe while playing would be top ten on my list. Such an amazing guitar player.
Joe's guitar playing is THE ABSOLUTE ! Can't stop listening to
That is an amazing sounding telecaster and damn joe is just insane 😳😳
Damn Joe.. I dig this a lot more than your other music! You were on fire here!
Only video from JB I go back to. Only video where I find him to have a heart. This is great
Ааааааа как классно!!!✌️🎸🔥👏❤️
Boy can you hear that signature tele sound baby! Nothin sounds like a tele with some sweet distortion!
Having fun.Its times like this you start making music
Killing it Joe. Keep this craft alive. God bless.
Fantastic , love when he is so animated . Never get tired of seeing him
Joe just keeps getting better. Nice Hot=Rod Tele-Tone.
Joe is the real deal
This is wonderful Linda. I love watching this. They are having such a good time. !!! Thanks.
g
Some of my favorite playing of his is on a Stratocaster. But, he plays all kinds of tunes and has talent. Great to see him keeping real music alive in this new "digital crap music era".
Thank you Linda. This is excellent.
Beyond sick
Damn...just killing it!!!
Thank you Miss Smoke!
Thank you again.
GOT DAAAM!!!
Joe Bonamassa Rules!!!!!!!!!
That Tele has an amazing midrange. Sounds like an old LP with a red hot poker up it’s ass. Awesome stuff!
🎼He’s A Beast ..!! 🎸💨
When you see Joe playing guitar it's always the slickback tired sunglasses suit Rockstar persona. This is the first time I've ever seen the guitar nerd persona shred the guitar.
AWESOME !! Hadn't Seen This One......Need to Check out the RCFP !! THANKS LINDA , XOX !!
This is good!
damn would I have loved to see that live!
Smooth playing dude
Very tasteful playing, not one note wasted.
Take notes, kids. This is how you play with dynamics!
Outstanding!
Well...that's just nuts.
Damn Joe!
in JB we trust.... the shred-master
just because, he can 🎸🎸🎸
Bad Ass Bonamasa!!!!!!🎸😎
I like when joe plays in small club than big halls
crazy
Insane
I don't know why he doesn't play like this more often live. He holds back a lot. I'm not a fan of guys who shred every time they touch the fretboard. But if you have the skills, show it off man!
@@johngillispie8643 I've got maybe 1/2 his skill and its pretty great
@@user-hq8mx7mn3u 🤣🤣💀💀
I like how you said you aren't a fan of shredding then asked why doesn't he shred more
@@bobjones5825 Is there no room for nuance in this world anymore? There's a difference between Malmsteen style, it must be lightning fast all the time and slow blues? I agree with Matt, he could shred more. A little more. Not constantly, but a little bit more.
Nice!
daaaaamn that was a rock and roll jam if i ever saw one. Taking notes here guys.
P.S. Joe, you better go buy this old lady some Tylenols after a swing like that hahaha.
He got the groove happening! 🥰❤️🥰❤️💋👍🎸💋🍷🧢🇨🇦🇺🇸❤️🥰💋🎸😘😘love it so much💋🇨🇦🥰❤️😘😘🎸🇺🇸
Crazy part is that he's played like this since his teens.
Oooo I was killed by this video!!!! ThankYOU For That video!!!
Just enjoy this! Too many critics who think they know how someone should play, what they should play, and when they should play it. This is just a grain of sand compared to his body of work. Listen to many, many songs by Joe Bonamassa, and then, if you think you are still an expert on what and how he should play, keep it to yourself. Sheesh! I'm sure he borrows something from many players, just like Eric Johnson, and Eric Clapton will tell you who their influences are. EVERY guitar player starts out copying something, from someone. As their foundation grows, and they get better, they start to develop their own style, which STILL has elements drawn from their influences. When YOU are good enough to get your videos played on UA-cam, and people actually like your playing, then maybe you can critique a phenomenal player like Joe Bonamassa.
+Tomas Eduardo I can't play one chord without my pick flying across the room so I concur with your summation...until they can play like him, they have no business criticizing.
Just keep playin! After a while, it stops becoming practicing, and then it starts to get fun!
+Tomas Eduardo Agreed man too many people say he robs Eric Johnson and others yes he does like to play groupings of fives like Johnson but the way people trash him is similar to saying.. Well an author of a book plagiarized his book because he re arranged the alphabet ... Joes an extraordinary talent I'm glad we have him in this day in age . I have friends who will totally ignore everything about him and I just don't get it these are other guitar players.
+Lucy Gray It will come in time best tip is try not to play to fast go at your own pace the pick will stop falling out of your hands one day.
srv is better and there's nothing you can do about it lmao
woops Bonamassa 😎
good gracious
Difficult to comprehend how he manages to shred like this on a vintage tele which presumably has a 7.25" fretboard radius. It's like he's playing a modern shredder guitar. Crazy talent.
This is some 90s Trey Anastasio level shredding.
Why haven't I seen this this rips
THOSE WHO CAN, DO. THOSE WHO CAN'T, CRITICIZE. SMOKING JOE IS AN AMAZING MARVEL OF AMERICAN ROCK BLUES MUSIC, PERIOD. GARY MOORE AND HE ARE GIFTS FROM THE GODS TO US, AND WE SHOULD HAVE THE GRACE TO ACKNOWLEDGE GREATESS, WHATEVER THE GENRE. JUST SAYING.
I've heard of wearing your strings out at a gig, but never after only one song.
wanted to know, he does use reverb here? straight to an old amp without reverb, ? if so, amazing
1 min in. I need new pants. Damit.
Any ideas what amps he’s using here? That tele sounding like it’s Angus’ SG plugged into his Marshall stack. Gees Louise
Cuál es esta canción?
I wonder what leo would have said if he could have seen his guitars today?
No need to buy a Gibson...
+missmoke007 - what's the name of this song? I can't seem to find it on their albums.
I love the drummer. I wish Joe would play with this guy more often. He's much better than Anton Fig, as far as 'staying in the pocket'.
They don't call him "Smokin Joe" for nothin!
Danny Gatton and Joe on a album would have blown my mind.
Gatton mentored him and taught joe when he was young
Stephen Ward
Crazy.
2:33 Mike Stern live w Miles Davis reference :)
who knows what was the Ending?
Thanks for posting the exposition on the '51 Nocaster, Joe gives a brief history lesson on the bastardization of a PAF in the neck. ua-cam.com/video/PSnbms-iomA/v-deo.html It's great to see him put this guit through its paces in this clip and he's sporting his favorite sweatshirt, so you know he's just in his zone.
Must be the hoodie
he should tour with richie kotzen
okay Joe may be a little goofy but God he can play!
Jean pierre...
bells and whistles. all i see.
Try this one~ua-cam.com/video/w768vbvOjfc/v-deo.html Or this one starting at 3:40 for electric blues tone and truly soulful playing~ua-cam.com/video/_GtfJQsanMA/v-deo.html
In an Instagram post this week Joe referred to his 1951 Nocaster as his "best" guitar.
As someone with a thing for Telecasters, I am glad to see Joe acknowledging something that isn't said often enough; TELECASTERS RULE.
(My screen name is a tribute to the man, not the guitar. 😉)
#FENDER4EVER.
Terry Reid Guitar...
Ron Jeremy on drums?
hotriffsofthrash -Tal Bergman on drums.
Lol. Ron Jeremy the pron star.
technique wise he might be even better than Eric Johnson!
ᶘoᴥoᶅ .....NO ......HES NOT .......really ?
Lisa Gy Why not?
I used to call Joe the “blue collar Eric Johnson”. They’re similar in some ways.
Love them both. Excellent guitar players!
The fretboard looks so worn that it almost looks like rosewood haha (it's a maple board to clarify) killer chops though :)
cazzo è vero, anch'io avevo pensato al palissandro...
Putting a humbucker at the neck in a `51 Nocaster ???!!!
Thomas Graben ~it was that way when he bought it. It was done many years ago.
Thanks missmoke - I guessed it was that , as I know Joe has some amazing old guitars in his collection. I guess it was done before Nocasters became so priceless.
His playing is legitimately like nothing I've ever heard
Yeah, if someone could just tab out 1:35 - 1:40 for me, that'd be great.
+Totallysickofonions ~LOL That would be pretty much impossible!! Too fast to even see!
+missmoke007 AND too smooth to replicate!
Yes indeed~both amazing and depressing at the same time!! LOL
+Totallysickofonions He is doing a 3-note pattern on the C pentatonic scale , just learn all positions and practice (a lot!!)
+Marco Fumagalli i ment F
I know it sounds superficial, but why is it that American guitarists who start out stylish seem to eventually work their way to a grungy, everyday 'dude' look?
Eric Gales, Tony MacAlpine, Slash, Greg Howe, and now Joe.
Joe is wearing casual clothes at a casual club gig~He always dresses up for his concerts. As for the others, you'll have to ask them!
not so fair to put Joe in that basket, nothing to do with those shred offsprings from back in the day, yet I would really like to see him and a guy like Kotzen tour together or even write together. I feel like there's a lot more potential to be set free if those dudes can play off each other, and really play out of their comfort zones
Finally no stupid suits and sunglasses...
I think it's a good look for him.
If you think Football Sunday with the boys looks better than a suit you're weird.
When you play like Joe you can wear whatever you want. He is a class act guy.
Albert King always wore a suit .....BB to usually ......they stupid?
if your fave guitarist is the best...then it is him and not you...if my favorite guitarist is the best, then it's him...not me !!! God sakes...let him play what he plays like and you play what you play like ...how about that huh?
F word.
You're cute Miss Smoke. Are you Joe's girlfriend?
ronnieguitar99 No way, I’m just a friend and old enough to be his mom. Lol
My god. He can actually play.
I always thought of him as the world's most mediocre guitarist.
Lawrence Davis oh you need to check out all the stuff he does with Rock Candy Funk Party. Joe is a stellar player!
I wish he would add some.melody to his tricky playing. it just comes off as parlor tricks without soul. where's the heart?
+modcraft13 Try this one of Joe for soul and heart~ ua-cam.com/video/DwXyKUxMskw/v-deo.html
+modcraft13 Just go listen to a bunch more of his songs, and you'll hear all kinds of melody. Every example of Joe's playing isn't going to have everything that YOU like.
+Tomas Eduardo I mostly pass. thanks though
+modcraft13
What Tomas Eduardo says
+ZappaBlues I just don't believe the hype. whateves
Yawn....
For being a normal, nice dude who just loves his guitar, Bonamassa gets a weird amount of bitter critique.
Pull the pineapples out of your butts and just enjoy the talent and music.
Jeez ..
I don't think he's out to please everyone on the planet. He just plays what he loves. If you don't like his personality and style, there are tons of other more troubled and weird artists out there.
Bonamassa plays white blues. Ok.
Nothing wrong with that.
👍👏
Except he's cheating. He put humbuckers on it.
