One dude who put that beast into the vault. One. 💪
What I'm most curious about - what if the tub needs to be lifted out of the vault for servicing. How would you do that?

I can't see the whole installation, but a proper installation requires a deeper drain pit with a sump pump (in other words the drain pit is deeper than the bottom of the vault for the spa). I put 2 x 4 cut-outs in the concrete at the bottom of the vault in an asterisk-shape, if you can visualize it. The center of the vault's concrete bottom (the center of the asterisk) has a drain that goes to the deeper drain pit (and the concrete slopes to the center). Three 2 x 4 cut-outs are parallel and evenly spaced out (this is in addition to the asterisk shape). This is where we leave rope so you can pull straps through in case the spa needs to be lifted out. The electrical outlet powering the sump pump is a GFI and a light is put wherever the owner requests it that will turn on if the GFI ever is tripped (no use having a sump pump if the GFI blows and you don't know about it). The access trap door to the spa is always the full length of the side of the spa that has the access panel. If you do all this then it is an exception to what the Spa Guy says or anyone says. I have installed several of these and have checked in with the owner's YEARS after and all is still well. I am a pool builder/landscaper/mason, and while I normally install built-in pools/spas, I have done several of these as well.

It sounds like you do it similar to how we do it thanks for the comments!

Got a video of how you do it?

Just curious - why wouldn't the floor of the vault consist of a bed of gravel (and with a French drain added) for faster draining? Seems like that would be a more efficient solution rather than adding another piece of expensive equipment (sump pump) that relies on electricity and can break?

Fantastic! May I ask what covers the 3’ gap on the 4th open side?

I'm thinking of doing something similar.. If access is required in the future to a side panel, how do yo access? Can you leave the vault under the hottub?

Hi Ronald, we use an ejector pump with a float. It sits in a small tank below the concrete floor. Good Question!!
