Despite this review I bought a B700 😀 It's fantastic. Way better than my honor 20 Pro. It was cheap, it's lightweight and the zoom makes it great for wildlife photography. I'm very impressed by the photos considering it's a bridge camera.
you could go for b700 for moon photos. You may search samples on youtube for b700. Or if you want even greater zoom, then p900 but it's bulkier than b700. Nikon B700 is compact enough and 60x zoom is more than enough. Also it delivers better quality of pics than the p900. Both of them has a major drawback of their small size image sensor but again, it isn't a DSLR. It's a bridge camera, so you can't expect that much from it. Overall, it's a decent budget camera. P.S: I still stand by my original comment about this video.
Depends on your purpose. If you hoping to get on the cover of National Geographics then no this camera is not for you. But if you've always wanted a photo of some particular animal but never could get close enough then this camera is fine. Plus if you are a master at cleaning up images like me, you don't need a great camera. Me and my software can make any photo look great without spending tens of thousands of dollars. So yes, not for everybody but far from lame.

Listen dude I’m no expert at all I actually just bought the B700 as my first “real” camera for the vacation I’m going on in a few months. I might not have much to compare it to but so far I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. To buy a good Dslr and a zoom lens I would have spent well over 1000 dollars probably close to 2. Why would I do that when I’m not even sure if I want to get into photography that seriously and have the best equipment. I love the B700 and I’m having more fun with it than I thought I would with any camera.
When he said after half way into the video that he will move on to the cons, I had to stifle a smirk, wasnt he highlighting the cons since the beginning?
Figured I’d drop my comment - I’ve had this camera since early 2018 - bought it for amateur birding. It doubles as a decent binocular and camera in one and I’ve caught some great photos of birds on vacation with it because of its relatively compact nature. I needed the zoom without dropping hundreds on interchangeable lenses. I looked at the Sony hx99 but wanted something a bit bulkier with more plastic to encase the guts in case I dropped it. For the price I’ve gotten plenty of great photos and videos worth my amateur level.
I bought the B700 about 5 years ago as I had been very impressed by a friend's P900. He is a retired BBC producer and technician with much more experience than a mere amateur so he can justify the higher price of that model. The bottom lines I am more than happy with my B700 and frankly, I am grateful that "Timmy Joe" kept repeating his name so that I remember to never watch one of his one sided, opinionated, irritating reviews again.
This was a good review! I have Nikon B700 and it has amazing zoom, But when shooting indoors and lowlight... I have to agree that the capabilities of this camera cannot be fully explored without an exhaustive amount of research (which is how I happened upon this review). It is however well worth it and as you say "This is a real good camera".
I have just purchased it for $ 336..can u show me an another camera whatever it might be ..that can take picture of this sort at such a miniscule price
No it don't make sense, because what's the point to pay 500 dollar for a DSLR that takes great pictures if you can't zoom closer to your subject? unless you pay an extra $200 or more for a DSLR zoom lens. Also your more limited with options with a point and shoot camera compared to a DSLR. Like I said the two are totally different cameras.
But you forget the lenses and their heavy weight and also the price thereof, so it make no sense to compare them because they are not compatible, in any means :-|
negative review I got the Nikon b 700 and it produces very good photos even in low lighting and the 4K stereo audio video filming is very good and even with the powerful zoom lens with good day lighting is fantastic the image processor for what it is as a bridge camera is pretty good & the electronic view finder is good & automatically switches off the lcd screen when using the electronic view finder so for £249 on Amazon UK is a very good deal for what U get
Juan Sanchez heyi. Can u tell me which one should i buy.. b700 or d3400d. .. for youtube, blogging and photography( though i am not a professional photographer😂)
i read the comment about comparing dslr and point and shoot but i need your opinion about my 1st camera. i wanna buy a camera for landscapes or for trips, should i buy a dslr or bridge cam? im choosing from nikon d5500 or B700? thanks for answering
This has to be said. Why is he comparing a super zoom bridge camera to dslr cameras. Sure, the a5000 has a much better sensor, or a t5, d3400, etc... But they all come at that price with a 18-55mm zoom [equivalent 27-82.5], not a 24-1400mm equivalent zoom. To compare prices, you'd need to add a 55-200mm, and then at least a 150-600mm zoom (950mm equivant on a crop dslr), and then you are comparing apples to nearly apples as far as feature set... And yes, the dslr equivalent will produce much better quality photos, but at about 4 or 5 times the price, not the same price. But then this camera was never meant to compete with a dslr, it was meant to be a cheap super zoom, which it is at about 1/4 or 1/5 the price of the cheapest dslr equivalant. Also much easier to carry around then a dslr with 3 lenses, including a huge 150-600. Again, the extra cost and weight is worth it, if you are a more serious photographer.
great in depth review my man. After seeing your review I would totally stick to the Sony. I want a Sony after having one from 2003 that was simply unreal, back then it was in the 1200$ + price range for the top of the line before the dlsr stuff came about. a whopping 5 megapixel but took such stunning pictures for its day.
Looking for something to take on my motorcycle travels so it needs to be compact And not bothered by constant vibrations. Also I want to be able to use it for kids baseball game.. Suggestions?
I watched a few minutes of this video and got really fed up with the guys incessant moaning! Literally the only thing I learned was how small the 1/2.3 inch sensor really is. Despite this, even in 2018 I would still buy the camera, because for a start, I wouldn't compare it to a DSLR!
Been looking at this and p900, you seemed to have a bad experience, but other people are saying that's it's a great camera. I liked your review because you explained it well I thought, the LCD screen did it for me, I gotta have oled
Yes Timmy Joe just saved me from parting with over $600 based on a hyped-up infomercial for something that really is completely unsuitable for my requirements. So, the initial critique of his presentation is completely without foundation. Think I will go for the Nikon D3400 or similar as a first DSLR for me. Thanks heaps!
how can it be a replacement for dslr? its way cheaper than a ( dslr+lenses).. b700 has small sensor with superb zoom..jst for novice photography..Investing in dslr is costly when it comes to decent lenses.
Just so much negative vibes listening to you. You do not seem to be speaking from a critique perspective. It seems you are driven by your own likes or agenda. Whatever it is, when people look for a review, they want an objective point of view. And vibes are important. The vibes you are sending are not really positive. You might want to relook how you present critique perhaps? Just my 5 cents worth. Cheers!
I was hoping someone could clear up why you would be limited to 7 minutes of 4k video? Is that referring to memory stick space, battery life, or something else? I know very little about cameras but I am looking for a decent point and shoot to use as a video recorder but 7 minutes seems like a ridiculously short period of time
Great review, there are alot of entry level DSLR users like myself that have a second camera and we were his target audience when he compared it to a DSLR. Secondly, it's in the price rance of an entry level DSLR so the comparison should be made.
Hey, I have a question if i find this camera in 310$ and I'm a beginner do you recommend me to purchase? Or for that price you recommend me another better camera? Thanks :)
i think you "can" compare the two cameras, but only where it matters. if you do low light photography, sports, holidays (landscape etc.), but if you're comparing reach etc, how are you going to get that bird on the other side of the river with an 18-55 kit lens on a dslr? you can, but i doubt you'll be asking a non-prosumer to spend 10k usd just to take a picture of a bird. so instead of comparing the obvious difference (picture quality), you'd rather point out the differences and where the advantage is of one over the other. that is really missing in your video and is not helpful at all.
its better off to go with the Nikon A900 instead, its pretty much like this camera, but its in a very compact size, its has less zoom but still has like a 35x zoom and i think thats plenty enough, the sensor for it is just slightly smaller, but the good thing is that you can find it around 400$ or even less, but i think that these cameras are a bit more meant for video recording than actually taking pictures, since if you really wanted to take good pictures instead of filming, would be better to pick an entry level DSLR like the Nikon D3200 for example, and start from there on.
people shouldn't waste their time on this videos, it's about the person behind the camera, not the camera itself, you can give a pro camera to someone who knows little and guess what, they won't get pro results

I have this camera, my first expensive camera ever. I took it to NZ, shot using RAW and 4K video. I don't know why you got such bad video and detailing on the pics as my photos, a beginner, were wonderfully detailed. My photographer uncle who uses crazy expensive stuff wanted my camera due to its quality at such a low price and in a small shell. Biased and bad review.
Hello Timmy, thank you for your hard work. I hope you have been realy honest about the B700. I have been looking around, reading reviews, watched out every video about the B900 for more than 6 months, before I noticed that the B700 is newer and has got more features than the B900. So bought it in januari. You are some late with such hard words about this camera, what did I miss? Did you find more bad reviews about the B700? How ever, this is like a marriage for a couple of years with these B700 for me, so I wil make the best of it. And never had a DSLR camera. That might help me.
Thanks for your response! In fact The camera made me worry in the beginning. But now I'm trying out the manual settings, and the results get better. I still love the camera, and will find out how to handle it.
good autofocus, you are moving your hand in front of it and it doesn´t recalculate the scene all the time, image in the video is good also, really, I would like to hear the sound of the integrated mic
Yeah I gotta agree with the others; the bias becomes rather clear early on. Most notably the "doesn't look ANY better than my cell phone"-thing... It seems like just trying to throw criticism at the camera, yet the image is imo sharper. Well, to a degree it can be. Ofcourse it would have been more prevalent if this video was in 4K. Expected a review that considers where this camera is when it comes to it's pricerange. Didn't see any glaring issues in the sample footage, yet you seemed to be unhappy with it, without specifying what it lacked (except repeating "small sensor".. If something was clearly off in the results, you failed to show what it was). The "well you could get a better one, but are you even gonna notice if you're a first time expensive camera buyer"-scoff just made me feel like you said it's ok, but for idiots. Visibly cringing while asking if anyone is excited about superzoom (which was the only good thing you said about it) etc.. It all paints a very biased picture and makes me think how had you reviewed this camera if you had not known of it's sensor size, as it seemed to be something you came back to several times. Seems to me that knowledge turned you off from it. Hey, I don't exactly blame you; I know for a fact that if a product has a weak point I have not been a fan of, it can make me skeptical and biased in a heartbeat.
(Damn I hate how mobile takes away text formatting and clumps it all together...)... But yeah in short, I think the biggest problem with this review was, that I now know that you would not find this camera to suit your wants or needs, but it did not tell me much about whether or not it would be something I'm interested in. (But conveyed that if I were to buy this, you would think of me as an amateur moron)
Hey I must disagree the b500 is a great camera and I have experience with a few DSLR cameras and I have to say this is a big step up minus a touch screen on the b500 and a huge competition on over priced DSLR which The now iPhone 7plus shoots just as good , I'm not a professional but I have been doing digital media for a few years now and Nikon is on to something with these cameras !!
nikon b700 is the worst camera of my life. encountered millions of problems with it, from not being able to send photos, refusing to turn on, not charging, lens not coming out and more. about a month out of warranty so thats $600 of camera and repairs gone down the drain
Good luck getting a phone as good as this camera for £300. Any amount of zoom on a sub £500 phone and the pics look like crap. Even on the high end phones the zoom just doesn't compare in terms of reach and picture quality when compared to what this camera can do. Its not as good as apsc and full frame but these cameras are about reach for no money and they are far better than a phone camera unless you are talking about close up in low light.
😂this and similar cameras are not for professional photographers because you always miss the moment. Even the oldest DS cameras are better because you get a quick photo the moment you shoot, so you know what you've photographed, but with this one, you almost never do. No thanks, I don't like it.
I'm actually disappointed with this cameras video quality. I'm not knowledgeable on cameras, but I thought 4k or 4kuhd would show better than this. The images this camera takes are nice, but the video quality was disappointing. Whoever is talking crap about this guys video needs to open their eyes because he is telling the truth. I shouldn't spend 400+ on a camera that has worse resolution than a 300 dollar phone

My B700 camera blows my DSLR away. My DSLR is now collecting dust. My pictures are more sharper using the B700. You can take your camera back but if it works for me then I’m going to keep it.
hi there timmy joe
i have just subscribed :) its coming up to my birthday on the 8th april and i wanted a new camera.. i am from England so prices are in pounds..u will no that hehehe.. price is £389.99.. i have had smaller dig cameras in the past ie: a cannon ..small one nothing fancy, so i was looking for a descent camera about the same price range as this one... me not knowing much about cameras i was tempted by the 4K recording as we have a 4K smart tv.. but as u say its not that brilliant, plus i dont want one with the massive zoom i dont get out that much :) so pics are for just at home.. i was impressed with your vid.. i am also looking at the Sony Alpha a5000 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 16-50mm you recommended.. any help in picking one would be very grateful i trust your opinion... do i really need a bridge cam or slr i am not shore ...thanks keep up the good work :P
Sir plz suggest should we go for B700 or P900?
Go for B700. It can shoot RAW videos which is awesome.
what digital zoom on this model
Do you have a other UA-cam channel timmy I thought I remember you saying you had a family channel
Thanks to your crappy review , l am gonna buy it
good autofocus, you are moving your hand in front of it and it doesn´t recalculate the scene all the time, image in the video is good also, really, I would like to hear the sound of the integrated mic
It's a great camera🖒🖒
It looks like a video of a 5 year old complaining his mom why he don't like "broccoli and peas" and giving some shitty reason😂
Solid review!
Actually the pictures you took with that camera, not bad for a 1/2.3" sensor ;-)
Thx for cons & keeping it real as opposed so many unboxing and pro vidoes ... whats up so many thumps down ...
(But conveyed that if I were to buy this, you would think of me as an amateur moron)
yea you`re totally not biased..
Adrian Negreanu biased against what? Crappy cameras?
Nikon D3400 o Nikon Coolpix B700????
bro tell me this is dslr or slr????
Irritating and false review. B 700 is a great camera.
*_TIMMY JOE!_*
good one
You gonna recommend a Sony 5000 DSLR over this and a lens will cost you $800.
Thank you for saving my money! :-)
Every electronic device has its own pro and cons ...b700 is a decent camera but no for pro tho
This is a dslr or slr??? b700??
Timmy Joe can u plzz suggest me as I am planning to buy this b700 so??? plz??
Vaibhav Girotra dont buy the b700 if you want to change lenses. If you need zoom buy the b700
JailerGaming this camera is gud or not. nd this dslr or not???
I want B700 😭
402 likes - 493 dislikes. Yeahhh, i see why.
nikon b700 is the worst camera of my life. encountered millions of problems with it, from not being able to send photos, refusing to turn on, not charging, lens not coming out and more. about a month out of warranty so thats $600 of camera and repairs gone down the drain
But i love B700 much..
In conclusion, this camera is not for you.
so much hate on comment section lol
Great video very informative
I swear i did see the moon on the p900 so stop complaining
I see you like domo
you gave me depression seriously
What a dumb to compare a cheap point and shoot camera to a dslr
Get the pronunciation right ... NICK-ON
all these people sick,this is bad,that is better.better bette.consumer pray,better better better
blah blah blah
bla bla bla ..... only again nikon b700
