Came for the jokes, stayed for the chess lecture.
Frankly, terrible
Truth hurts!
Great lectures! Great games. Go, Karpov! Greatest player ever.
These lectures are so good. I hope to catch one live at some point. My thanks to Ben and the generous sponsors
Outstanding chess content, and enjoyed this very much. Having watched both parts 1 & 2, I'll take my chances with letting my opponent have the iso QP.
Great lecture Ben. Korchnoi-Karpov is one of my favorites also. There was a chess book I had as a kid that used that game to demonstrate the isolated d-pawn, and it biased me against the isolated pawn for decades. It wasn't until recently that I started to understand the dynamism of the d-pawn, and now one of my favorite variations is the white side of the Semi-Tarrasch, where white plays an early e4.
Quality lecture, we need more sponsors!
Very instructive. Thanks.
More lecture series pls thank you Ben :) I miss your Atlanta Chess Club lectures :) I'm a fan from the Philippines :)
My problem is I just look at the pawns sternly, but I never go all out to punish them...
Thank you
I'd be interested in which of the plans still work with isolated pawns on other files on 4th rank or other ranks. Seems the isolated d4 is most often so its focused on.
@@1234444rbi a lot of similar ideas are still relevant in those positions. For example the blockading knight on e5/ endgames or when neither attack breaks through in general are better for black / White often plays Nd5/Nf5 even sometimes when protected by a pawn...
Well isolated pawn positions are very common in d4 openings so it's the classic example. And also an isolated center pawn is always going to be a lot more impactful than an isolated flank pawn because traditionally you want to develop and play around the center in the opening/middle game.
at 25:14 why didnt white play d5 getting rid of the iqp?
Nf4?
ill watch part two first just to confuse my opponent 🙃
so today i learn if you run out of checks you don't get paid.
