Iris Caddis | A CADDIS Dry Fly That Works EVERYWHERE | Fly Tying Tutorial

- In this fly tying tutorial Cheech ties the Iris Caddis!
A concept from the desk of legendary Craig Matthews. This Caddis may be the most overlooked dry fly that Craig has created, but that’s a good thing!! It’s wildly effective and you might be the only angler that has it tied on during the hatch. I have tied this in many sizes, variations, and colors. They all really work well due to how it sits in the water column. My favorite way to fish this fly is about 24” behind a size 14 palomino Caddis.

Fulling mill has got the best patterns and cheech has got the best tying videos! Very cool fly👍
works great up here in Ontario...thanks for your excellent video...
That’s awesome! That dubbing is so good, wish they had more colors though!
Great looking fly, and another awesome how-to video! I’d probably tie some of these anyway, but since I got to hear Craig Mathews speak at the last Trout Unlimited meeting here in Bozeman a couple weeks ago, I’m gonna DEFINITELY gonna tie some of these up!
Created by Craig & John Juracek*
Is there a material list for this fly and where can I get them
We have the material list link in the description of the video. www.flyfishfood.com/blogs/dry-fly-tutorials/iris-caddis

Great tie Cheech! Thanks for sharing.
This video was brought to you by Fulling Mill... damn right! Love it!!
Great looking pattern, gonna have to try this!
Awesome video, Cheech!
I'm a sucker for loop winged flies. This'll be the next one!
how do you prefer to fish that just below the surface?
Right on top of sits really low
Low floating dry/emerger as per FFF but … don’t be afraid to let it drown and swing at the end once in awhile - sometimes they hammer it as it submerges or swings
@@dsmith2601 ever add a little Xink to it?
Great Vid! EP trigger point has the best floating properties of all the comparable synthetics in side be side comparisons of all the poly yarns fwiw … but Iris caddis in the popular caddis colours/sizes for your area should be in yer boxes!
Ultra dry yarn is new. Also, did trigger point get tested against TMC Aerowing?
@@FlyFishFood was tested against FM’s Ultra Dry Yarn, but not aerowing … UDY, EPTP, Antron, z-Lon, McFlylon, polypropylene floating, and a couple others were tested.
All tested as very competent, long floaters so colours what you have, texture etc matter … ultra dry yarn is good stuff
@@dsmith2601 when did this test take place and where can I see results? 😬😬
@@FlyFishFood tight line videos conducted it … available via their social media
