If you had to choose one of your sewing machines for bag making which one would you choose? ( Without taking the height of the cylinder machine into account)
The cylinder arm hands down. With the new table attachment from Recent Relic it makes it easy to switch between flatbed and free arm. I feel I would sew a lot more on my cylinder arm if the height wasn't an issue as it makes it extremely uncountable to sew a full bag on it. Which is why I tend to sew most if not all my bags on my 1541s.
Thank you for this video ! I’ve only been sewing for a short time but really want to make a business out of it ! I love the cylinder machine but I’m unsure
You are so welcome! You can't go wrong with a Cylinder machine. I have recently found a great flatbed attachment made by recent relic designs. So if your unable purchase both the cylinder machine and Thor 1541s route then I recommend checking out that flatbed attachment to replace the one that comes with the machine. It will help cut down time and make switching from flatbed to cylinder arm significantly easier and quicker. ☺️
@@CastineHandcrafted did sunny sewing assemble it for you? I think I’m having hard time pulling plug because I don’t know the difference between each but I know I’m tired of messing up my topstitching 😢! Thanks for you help !
@@Craftbags33 yes sunny sewing ships all their machines assembled which is awesome because it’s ready to sew as soon as it’s delivered 😊. My first industrial machine I started out with was a preowned Juki 5550. This was a non walking foot machine and is made for garment sewing. I was able to make all my vinyl handbags on it. My older videos features this machine a-lot. It’s important to remember that many industrial machines are made for specific purposes. So you can’t get a 5550 or 8700 and add a walking foot on it like you could on a domestic sewing machine.
@@CastineHandcrafted I own a walking foot industrial now so I know I don’t want to go backwards , I’m like the cut out table and how compact they seem! It worries me how tall it may be from looking at pictures
@@Craftbags33 it is tall however if you already have a walking foot flatbed machine then the height of the cylinder won’t be a issue. I construct all my bags in my Thor 1541s and then topstitching on my cylinder. I typically don’t use the flatbed attachment on my cylinder arm. I find that the height isn’t a issue for me.
Price was a big factor in my decision as I was also purchasing a Skiver machine with my 1541s. Also the Juki did not have the walking foot height adjustment like the Thor does.
My Juki was delivered to me the same day your machines were delivered to you, By Sam. I took a peak at your machines they are 😊nice!
Such a great video! Congrats on your new machines 😍😍😍
I got the Thor 1541 from Sunny’s too. I love it!! I’m lucky that I live just outside Dallas, so I can visit them often!!!
Could you get a stool with a backrest and put a box under the cylinder arm for the foot pedal
I'm surprised you didn't just lower the adjustable legs on the 1341 table.

Did you finance your Thor? I am looking at industrials but I will need a payment plan. Just checking.
Sunny sewing has a layaway option for their machines. I purchased all my machines outright.
Why did you get the Thor 1541 over a Juki 1541? I'm having a hard time choosing between the two.
The price would be quite different. One is a copy of the other.
