8:05 sandvich is an obtainable secondary "weapon" . Once you obtain it you can equip it. (by default it replaces your shotgun) heals 300 HP when you eat it but you can also drop it on the ground so that whoever picks it up gets healed for 100 HP (that also includes enemies) after eating/dropping it you have to wait several seconds for it to recharge but you can also recharge it instantly by going to the resupply closet or picking up a health pack when at full health. sandvich is actually one of the few items that have a guranteed drop method: you get it automatically after getting the "heavy milestone 1" achievement (obtain 10 achievements from the heavy pack)
Really sorry to be this guy, but actually, the sanvich acts as a medium health pack, which heals half of the “eaters” total health. So, light classes(125 HP) get healed 67 HP.
The teleporter, dispenser, and sentry all have three different levels, with each giving a more significant boost. For example, the level 1 teleporter takes 10 seconds before it can teleport a player, and the level three only needs 3 seconds if I'm not mistaken.
Honestly, Sandvich I find is much more fun to play against than Roadhog’s heal because it’s not nearly as fast and takes actual consideration on when to use it due to it making you completely stationary and defenseless.
I found you earlier today, I love seeing new people get into TF2, especially Overwatch fans. I have nothing against them whatsoever, but I love seeing the original team based FPS that Overwatch was inspired from. If I had to say what to react other than Lazy Purple’s stuff is, either SoundSmith Sterotypes(unsure how you’d feel about them since he uses terms well known in the community and is dated a bit), or the comics, preferably dubbed.
As a Heavy main, you will have to have a decent amount of patience and positioning to play the slowest class in the game. Like LazyPurple said spy and sniper are just a pain most of the time while you're distracted. Unfortunately due to random critical hits (which amplify a damage output by 3 times the amount such as Demoman''s grenade launcher pill which does 100 now does 300.) Heavy's 300 health doesn't mean very much when you can get two tapped by anything in the game. Stick with medics and engineers to stay alive the longest or at least stick with a teammate so that way they can back you up. The sandvich restores your health to full but has a 30 second recharge timer which can be negated if you're at full health and pick up a nearby health pack on any map even the smallest ones will do it. Plus the health you give if you drop you're lunchbox item on the ground for your teammate will act as a medium health pack, helps the medic (or anyone) in a pinch.
When TF2 first launched the classes were all rather fixed in what they could do and how they performed, but with some updates the game was expanded upon to include achievements and some new optional weapons. Traditionally the stock weapon loadouts are by default the best option for any given situation with the side-grades offering some augmented playstyles to flourish with a little help. For some classes their side grades often give a little risk/reward benefit, keeping the same relative playstyle but say giving you improved damage for an accurate shot at the cost of how much ammo is in your clip before you need to reload. Some unlocks are really good, others are forgettable and bad, but almost everything has a function based on playstyle and personal preference. All that being said, the Sandvitch is one of those items that breaks rank and elevates itself to being just as good if not better than its stock option. Heavies stock loadout is his Minigun, a Shotgun secondary, and then his bare fists as his melee option. Given that you typically need to wind up your minigun before you can shoot, you're always looking for an opportunity to prefire around corners and when advancing. At mid to close range nothing really matches the minigun in dps during a fight so you almost always want to have your primary. The shotgun is a good option but it doesn't really get used on heavy unless you run out of ammo with your minigun, and despite chewing through ammo like crazy, that doesn't really happen all that often. Typically you die long before running out of ammo, or have a team that helps out with dispensers and the like. Not to mention ammo packs around the map and being able to get more from killing enemies. Thus most people would opt to use the sandvitch instead given how well it offsets the other primary negative aspect of playing heavy, that being the fact you are a damage sponge. Most of the time in casual lobbies one of two things will happen. Either nobody will shoot at you, or EVERYONE will shoot at you. This sounds kind of obvious but given the massive health pool the heavy has, a lot of new players will try and take them on a couple times, lose horribly and come to the quick decision that "Welp, heavy isn't worth trying to kill." and so they will stop trying, especially if he has a medic. They'll opt to try and take out other classes first if they're around, giving heavy free reign to go nuts. More experienced players though will know just how easy it is to juke the big mans shots and take him out. A decent scout can go toe to toe with a good heavy medic or not if they play it right.
I know you've heard about the sandvich from the comment section, but there's a chance that you may not have known that there are alternative sandviches The Buffalo Steak Sandvich does not give you any health but will act as a medium size health kit when you drop it for your teammates (picking it up will not heal you, but instead allow you to throw it again) however, eating it forces you to use melee (only if you didn't eat it off the ground), and while you are forced to your melee, you get a speed boost and mini crits, however you are hurt more from other attacks. The Dalokohs Bar is a chocolate bar for the Heavy that when you eat it will heal you for 100 hp and give you 50 extra maximum hp that turns into overheal after a while has passed, it acts as a small health kit for your teammates. Finally, we have The Second Banana, which recharges 3 times faster than other food items, and it heals for 200 hp. can be dropped as a small health kit for your teammates.
As someone who has havey and one of my mains I can confrim all this. As Heavy you are slow and kind of an easy target for spies and snpiers but you are a big threat to most of the other classes if you catch them off guard. And yes I can confrim I have many times just said fuck and jumped a corner and started shooting. Also something he didn't mention hold mouse 2 to reve up your minigun as it has to do that before you can fire.
