I want to say thank you. I know this video was made a while ago, but I literally replaced everything and nothing was working but today I listened to the advice from this video and the knocking front end noise finally went away. It was too good to be true thank you.
Thank you, I'm sending this clip to my mechanic! We've been fighting front end noise for several years, and I've always said it was the bushings, but they looked OK. Now I'll get him to re-visit the problem, looks like a fix!
I have had 2 other things make odd noises on the front suspension of these cars. The sway bar bushings being number one and the sway bar end links being number two. Of course check the control arm bushings when you are in there as well.
NAH, you get a chrysler for half the cost and if something breaks the part and labor will leave you money to fill it up. Try that with a cadillac.@@pjimmbojimmbo1990
Good video, I woulda just replaced the bushings with new $15 pair of Duralast bushings from auto zone like I did. 50% noise gone and now it's time to do my tie rods and end links to eliminate all clunk/noise
can you add a clip where you capture the noise on video? hard to tell if the noise i'm hearing on my car is the same as the noise you're repairing in this video
Great, detailed video. Thank you! That noise is notorious throughout the Chrysler/Dodge platform of these years. You solved what numerous mechanics could not target. 🙌🏾
Is this the same procedure for a 2009 Dodge Charger 3.5 v6? Thank you for showing me this. Very well explained and informed video. Keep up the good work bro. Kudos
Most factory sway bar bushings will deteriorate with axcel grease, for most stock bushings silicone lube is used. When buying new bushings the manufacturer will tell you what to use to lubricate the new bushing.
I used the "pink all purpose" grease for my bushings... Duralast bushings didn't come with grease so all purpose was good for me... 50% clunk gone no more creaks or clunks and now to fix rest of the rods and sway bar end links to eliminate 100% clunk
This was just a very quick fix to get the customer back out on the road. We replaced them with the MOOG bushings and a few other things needed about 2 weeks later.
Excellent video! The video was recorded backwards for some reason. I didn't figure it out until I saw you tightening the bolts the wrong way. At first, I was wondering why you were removing the left wheel, after you said the problem was on the right side.
The video is flipped around somehow. There are some closeups of the bolts and they look like a left handed thread in the video but they're not. When he's tightening the bolt toward the end of the video, he's pulling down on the wrench and the ratchet clicks when he's raising it. Usually left handed fasteners are only used on one side of a car's wheel nuts. You tighten them by turning counter clockwise. Most bolts are right handed and they turn clockwise to tighten.
I am using a cell phone to record this video using the front facing camera, which inverts everything. Looks like I am going to have to redo the video. Many people are hung up on that fact rather than the info provided in the video.
@@excelsiorautoservices I found that I have a program that flips the videos and I've downloaded and processed your video already - is there an email I can send a link to dropbox so that you can download it?
Yes I've been paid as a mechanic since the 60s and now that I'm retired i have a Self Winding good watch and not a $9.00 battery powered Chinese watch anymore.
Thank you. Excellent video. 2 questions: is the jack stand positioned under the lip? My 2008 Charger SRT has a notch in the rocker panel there. Also, would lithium or silicone grease be ok?
Often times it's your brake pad shims that need replaced. Specially considering it's all 4 wheels your getting sound from. The pad rattles in the caliper if shims are bad.
I just bought a 06 300c and everything I read or watch is all about how bad the suspension is for these cars 😬😬😬 didn’t know this before I bought it so if this is a lot of your videos (covering this cars suspension and issues) I’m definitely gonna sub
My 2015 300S is making a lot of metallic clattering noise in the front end too, pretty much the exact area you described. However, as soon as I touch the brake pedal the clattering stops. I just had my brakes replaced and everything there seems fine, all nice and tight. So I’m wondering, would a loose or missing sway bar bushing cause a noise like that that stops as soon as you apply the slightest brake pedal pressure? Thanks, and thanks for the video.
@@excelsiorautoservices thanks! I since confirmed the bushings on my sway bars, as well as the ones on the control arms, all need replacing. Thanks again for the video and the reply!
thanks, very good video, i have a 2010 dodge challenger with suspension noise, i changed struts, and checked everything else but never thought to check that, will be doing it very soon
I'm not sure but aren't those bushings made of rubber? I believe something like Sil-Glyde would be better, or something silicone based, because they contain petroleum, which eats away rubber... And if you went that far, why not just replace the bushings? That one looks pretty squished. Thanks for the tips
This job was for a customer that was just trying to get by until pay day. We ended up redoing the job a few weeks later with the MOOG bushing and a few other components needed.
For some reason, these were all left hand threads! ;) Got all new camera equipment , so now I won't have to shoot with the front facing camera to see if im getting an accurate shot!
I just changed my sway bar bushings and I still have bad noises. What should I replace now, all the front and real bushings or should I replace struts front and back?@@excelsiorautoservices
Just bought also a 2007, and brought it to three garage. All said my suspension needed to be replaced. Since the car is still in good shape i told them to go ahead for 1100$ canadian... Will see if the sound stops.
I 100% agree, but these were not showing any heavy wear. Just lube them up and slide them back in. This client was back in the shop over this past weekend and they are still in there and making zero noise.
Already addressed this in the comments below. Each side was making the identical noise. Already fixed the right side and was showing the left side repair.
I've had most of my suspension go bad...never was good really. Control arms uppers moving quarter inch, lowers the bushing self pressed itself out over time ect. Gonna go back in there and grease the shit out of the bushings and hope. Brand new bushings that are the right size. Let's see
These were just the stock bushing but the common replacement from the store is Moog. Make sure you have the diameter of your sway bar when ordering. There are different sizes.
Greased the old one after bushing inspection. It showed no signs of wear or elongation. Once back in the clam shell mount there was no movement either side and everything was within tolerance.
Incorrect. The bushing had worked its way out of the mount. The metal on metal sound was the sway bar banging against the mount where the bushing had slipped out. I lubed up the bushing and put it back in the mount.

One of problems I have on mine now is a vibration when I brake...
I also have this problem don't know what is is my rotors have been replaced all of them
Ball joints
Mine was rotors and brake pad done at the same time.....

check your sway bar links they make that noise.

It can stop if you hit the brake pedal as it is transferring load to the front and putting the loose components under compression.

It is quite possible but being so new ot would be unlikely this could be a problem unless it has a ton of miles on it or it has been wrecked.
Yes! This is a common problem for dodge. Easy fix though.
I own both model's except mines a Awd could be but I know the suspension is definitely different now that fiat supplies the parts now
