I was in the Emirates in 1980 and this freak, once in 50 years, cyclon developed in the Indian ocean and moved towards Oman and UAE. It hit Dubai and Abu Dhabi quite hard with wind speeds something like 250kph. Lots of damage, cars, buildings, power lines etc. The outer edge of it was between the Sharjah and Dubai, and Sharjah did not get the high winds, just rain and gusts.
Cheers Phil and the gang, some cool as breeze throughout the coming weeks would make it a swtas Kiwi summer,. The usual 4 seasons rain wouldnt hurt as well.. 😎
Most of this summer I've been using my heat pump set at 26c daytimes and leaving it on all nights 26c Today is fine and sunny and a cold 🥶 SE winds and I hate the cold 🥶 wet cloudy weather
Wairoa HB weather has settled on clouds, wind and rain, with rare patches of blue sky occasionally. Not enough to make a sailor a pair of pants, as my parents used to say as they looked up.
What a shit summer it has been in Canterbury, I just hope that I get my washing dry during the weekend, I've nearly run out of clean clothes. Thanks Phil.
Weather patterns havent settle down so far this summer High pressure look smaller even in summer . Nz climate seems get cooler but i enjoy warmer winds from the north east
On the Auckland/Northland Border. Almost no rain this summer, water tanks are almost empty. Any reason all the nice rainy stuff seems to always miss us here?
The East Coast had summertime in December with warm temperatures, Now in January the West Coast is having nice and warm weather with a light SE wind in Vogeltown New Plymouth, says on my weather station it was 27c at the time I posted this.
Thanks for the feedback , yes we are aware , will be back normal tommorrow, as I'm producing this at a remote location (Holiday)with poor connectivity 👍 cheers

The 2022 Hunga-Tonga Hunga-Ha'apai volcanic eruption shot out an unprecedented amount of water vapour into the sky, reaching heights of up to 55km and depleting 5% of the ozone layer in some regions in just one week.
I remember I had a settled summer once ... It was 1972... a Sunday... at about 2pm.
"Yes, I remember it well!" sarc.
When did that two systems merging cyclon hit the north island, was it the one you mentioned 1972?🐞

The ozone hole above nz was caused by merica testing nukes in the atmosphere above nz thanks guys
Umm, are you serious?
What are you smoking .
The "ozone hole" is a natural occurrence that also happens in the northern Hemisphere dependant on where the sun is situated.
It is not man made.
The 2022 Hunga-Tonga Hunga-Ha'apai volcanic eruption shot out an unprecedented amount of water vapour into the sky, reaching heights of up to 55km and depleting 5% of the ozone layer in some regions in just one week.
Then we had two years of very wet weather patterns, as did the Eastern coast of Aus. @@SenseiLawrence-1
