    Thank you for such a comprehensive video. I have just received my grapevine (Same type) so will start to thinking about planting it. I'm super excited as it's my first greenhouse. So a nice longterm plant.

      Glad you found the video useful. Yes, that is a very exciting time - new greenhouse, new grapevine. I should start eating grapes from mine next summer. Can't wait.

    We had an entire pergola of them in Oudenbosch, and now we have them again at our new place. A has been doing a really good job of it. Fab video!

    Well you have waited this long for a grape vine so another 2 years will fly by. Living in Spain I sometimes forget the reality of growing some plants/grapes in a cooler climate. I found the solution of planting the roots of the plant outside the greenhouse very ingenious.

    Thank you, ma'am, for this great work. I would just like to point out that the soil in my home garden is sandy and rocky, and I failed to plant a grape plant, so I removed the rocks and added clay, and the tree succeeded in growing.

      @@GardeningatDouentza Welcome, Madam. I live in North Africa on the Mediterranean Sea (Tunisia), and our climate is sunny in the winter and hot in the summer. The climate is ideal for my hobby of gardening and plants, but I cannot enjoy my home garden because I am unemployed and have limited financial means.

      @@GardeningatDouentzaThank you, this is not your fault. Sometimes I get a simple job, so I buy with all the money the plant that I love, and I even consider the plant a part of me, and I can never live without my home garden, and I know the precise details of every plant that I have or do not have...

    Grape seeds of dark grapes are very important, they have resveratrol which is anti aging, together with the skin 😋

    Great video. The best one i could find on planting a grapevine outside to grow inside. I'm doing this project right now for my polytunnel with a 12 month old plant. Going to use a short 6" plastic pipe to bring the vine safely between the polytunnel frame and the block floor. Have you an update on how your grapevine is doing?

      Hello there and lucky you to live in one of the biodiverse hotspots of the world. Borneo is top of my list of places to visit. I'm afraid however that I can't really advise you on a grape vine to grow there. This is outside of my experience. Sorry to not be of more help.

    Such an interesting idea, sadly my winter garden has a complete cement base. :<
    Did you already tackle the big pruning for this winter? How did it go?

    • @GardeningatDouentza
      @GardeningatDouentza  7 місяців тому

      Yes, the winter grape pruning is done now. If you want to see how the vine looks now, take a look at my 'third greenhouse' video where the whole greenhouse got replaced from around the grape vine 😉

    Would it be possible to make a video about fertilisers and how to use them the best way. I've never used any in my garden and don't know if I should of

    • @GardeningatDouentza
      @GardeningatDouentza  2 роки тому

      Thank you for that suggestion and I will certainly think about making such a video. In the meantime, here's the information. Personally I don't fertilise individual plants in the garden but I do fertilise all the borders in spring. I do this my laying a layer of horse manure (if I can find and afford it) or my own compost. My own compost never goes far enough though so, for the rest, I apply handfuls of chicken manure pellets.

    "they have seeds"
    I got used to eating grapes with seeds growing up. IMO, the seeded varieties are superior in flavor. I truly love fresh Concord grapes but they are never available here in Florida.

      It's things like this that make me realise how spoilt we have become as a species! What kind of hardship is a few seeds!!!

  • @benwinkel

    I have a volunteer grape in my yard. One of my neighbors must have enjoyed a handful while standing on the balcony and spit out the pips. Imagine if seedless grapes get the upper hand! What is the world coming to?
    Now seedless olives, that i can understand!

    • @GardeningatDouentza
      @GardeningatDouentza  2 роки тому +1

      Does your volunteer grape fruit? Yes, seedless olives would certainly sell. I don't mind them though. The seeds are certainly easier to avoid than grape seeds.
