I think the story behind the song is incredibly deep when compared to the lyrics. Eve is trying to portray how coping with the death of a close one can be, how it can affect people and how to deal with it. In this story Pink is trying to cope with Green's death in the best way he can, thus why we see him smoking in the beginning. Then we see that Green appears in front of Green again and this makes Pink remember all of the moments that he lived with Green. We can see that both of them have cameras and enjoy taking pictures, and this is what connects both of them when they meet for the first time, we can see this connection when their souls start to fly away next to each other. Green was not that happy when they met for the first time and Pink changes this by bringing photography and good times into his life, because of this they both develop a deep relationship with each other and both of them end up happy. They spend a lot of time with each other and a lot of time passes, where they acquire many memories and deep emotions for each other, unfortunately we can see that Green starts getting sick. This sickness killed Green and Pink is having a hard time dealing with it, making depression and anger a big part of his life because he now doesn't have the one that made him the happiest. We then see Pink's memories again, but this time they all fade into his present self, giving the sense that he does not want to remember the good times because it hurts him. Pink then goes to to "burn" all of his memories with Green to try and move on, but this ends up hurting him a lot more making him fall into a dark sense of anger and depression, not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel anymore, the light being Green. This darkness consumes him completely. Green calls out for him in a last attempt to eradicate this darkness trapped within Pink, but it's futile. Pink then remembers Green's face for a brief moment, this automatically sparks the light he needed into his life, but he still can't accept the fact that Green is gone. Green then gains the courage and resolve to change Pink's perspective of life into the better and goes after him. Green, with every last bit of light he has left tries to reach Pink in time before he falls to complete darkness and succeeds. Pink wakes up from the darkness and into a new world of light, a world where even if his best friend is gone, he can still move on and keep on living. Green then leaves Pink so he can let him move on with his life and always keep the promise. The promise in this case being Pink moving on with his life and not getting stuck with Green's death, because that's what Green would want. Because of this promise Pink can now keep doing what he loved to do, the thing that connected both Green and Pink, the thing being photography. Without the burden of his friend's death on Pink's shoulder he can now enjoy both life and photography.
I went really in depth there, but Eve's message is as strong as always.

約束本当に曲もMVも素敵で感動しました。
カメラを通じて仲良くなった2人だったけど青髪の子は亡くなり、赤髪の子は悲しみで前に進めないでいたんですかね、2人で歩いているのに赤髪の子は下を向いていて街の様子も人外やMVに登場するキャラクターがいる場面から誰もいない街に変わるのが大切な人がいなくなった心情を表しているように感じました。
2人の撮った写真が燃えていくところも赤髪の子の悲しみが伝わってすごく切なかったです。
でも、燃えた写真が光る場面や青髪の子が赤髪の子に手を差し伸べる場面が前に進めないでいた赤髪の子に思い出の中の青髪の子が助けてくれたように感じました。カメラの色も赤髪の子が持っていた黒色から青髪の子の持っていた白色に…
最後の

今度は僕からはにかんでみせるの
約束しよう｣
という歌詞から2人で過ごした思い出が悲しいものじゃなくて幸せなものだと赤髪の子が前を向けたように思いました。
初めは赤髪の子が1人だった青髪の子に手を差し伸べ、最後は青髪の子が赤髪の子に手を差し伸べる。2人の関係が本当に素敵だと思いました。
短い期間で感じたことなので

The beginning of the mv is the red guy standing alone on a bridge but suddenly a green guy appear out of nowhere taking a picture of him ans say "we finally meet again" the red guy is really shocked to see him and the green guy say "its been a long time".
After that we see a sort of flashback, so i think the story is about two boys sharing the same hobby : photography, but one is always alone for some reason while the other has many friend but once they realised they had the same passion, they started going out to take pictures together and they were verry happy so they made a promise. But the green guy was sick and couldn't tell his friend because he wanted him to stay happy like that ( he coughed at 2:02 ). The green guy died because of his disease and the red guy is very depressed and he forgot about the promise and stopped taking pictures that he once loved taking. After the flashback he's walking with the illusion of the green guy (that appeared at the beginning) and start going were they used to go together, but he remembered that he was all alone now and tried to end it all (when he burnt all the pictures) Until he found a piece of photo were we can see the green guy smiling and he remembered all the memories and
the promise they made. He then tried to reach the green guy and save him, the green guy smiled and we can see that he's hands are transparents ( 3:04 ). The red guy realise that he can't bring him back but fell relieved because he knows that the green guy would always be by his side, we can see from the start a sort of spirits that surround the two boys and at the end the green guy's spirit (the green one) is swimming by the red guy's side on the same bridge where everything started and that mean that even if he died he would always be with him and that could be a part of their promise. I forgot a lot of thing and english is not my first langange so im sorry but i wanted to share my theorie even if its extremely long ! ( 1:48 no im not crying YOU are )

I'm usually too shy to comment on these, but here's my visual interpretation:
Based on the title, I think Red is mourning Green, and this video captures the time when Red finally decides to get back into photography after the loss of his partner: something that would be incredibly daunting and deeply emotional. He's not prepared for the memories and the emotions (because try as we might, we're never ready for them when we do something like that). It's a time that's deeply comforting because it was something really personal he shared with Green, inspiring because he remembers how bright and exciting the city can be, and heartbreaking because with those happy memories comes the grief of knowing Green is gone. Sometimes Red feels like a kid again, taking in the sights and reminiscing on happy times, but sometimes he feels lost in his grief, like it might swallow him up, making the city look much more intimidating and making getting back into photography feel like an impossible task. But he remembers Green and his vibrance and their dreams together, and his promise to Green ultimately is able to pull him out of the dark moment and keep going.
I'm only 23, but I've experienced a lot of grief myself to the point a lot of people say it's the main thing that characterizes my life. With the anniversary of my dad's passing in just 3 days it's the main thing on my mind right now, so I see grief just about everywhere in what I watch/read/listen to, and seeing it in this video gives me hope. Thank you so much Eve, I know it's just coincidence but the timing really could not have been much better. ♡♡
I hope you're doing well, I am not that experienced with grief and sasness (im only 16) but it always helps looking forward to things, even small things like the sunrise the next day or the sunset this evening, the next time you meet friends and or family, the next time you can participate in your hobby, or even just the chocolate pudding you have in the fridge which you can eat after coming home from school/work/college. Try to enjoy and consciously appreciate those moments. I always take a deep breath in those moments and feel alive again.
Thank you for reading this, just some thoughts and how I cope with sadness, even though I didn't go through much.

As someone who has lost someone, I can assure you the feeling of wanting the whole world to just crumble to bits is real. It just feels so *unfair* that the sun would shine on people, to hear people laugh, to hear the TV blaring the news as usual.

I've got a theory for this video for anyone who was wondering, i know there's already another comment explaining it. i felt like they missed some details so if you want more details feel free to read, but i have to warn you it's quite long as it's something i really cared about.
It's fairly straightforward compared to his other mv, but there still may be some confusion. Anyway here it is:
At the beginning we see a black camera thrown in the water and we are introduced to our protagonists. Green takes a picture of pink while smiling and says "it's been a while"
At 0:24 you can see that pink has a spirit reflected on the bottom while green doesn't.
at 0:49 neither of them have a spirit, but pink has his camera leading me to believe that it starts going/shows the past.
At 0;56 we are shown their introduction with green having a blank face while looking to the class. This most likely means that green was a transfer student. You can also inference this by greens uniform compared to everyone else's. Pink notices green and the class scene ends
in the next shot we can see the two grabbing their own cameras. They go out to take pictures. throughout the scene we can see what is perhaps how green sees the world Dull without color. While taking pictures they notice each other and most likely begin a friendship. further enforced by the beginning of 1:21 with their views of the world becoming more full of life and color. Their spirits soar through the air together.
At 1:43 we see pink giving green a camera while green is on the ground. probably representing green being saved by pink through their love of taking pictures. Further on we see the two taking pictures/making memories together while both begin to smile. Everything seems fine with multiple pictures being shown on the ground showing us all the things they've done together.
at 2:00 we see the two walking together, but something seems wrong as green begins to cough.
Someone else mentioned that the spirits that we see is their mental state which i believe is also true which plays into the next scene. Pink is then alone no longer with green. it's probably that green is either beginning to die or already dead. further shown by the lyrics "is it possible to honestly smile in this new world?" which is pink asking himself what to do now that green is gone. Bothered by this his mental state goes bad as the spirit grows into a big demon swallowing him.
the next scene begins and we are shown the two walking together. We can also see that while green has his camera, pink doesn't possibly showing him losing his passion,. At 2:30 we can see that now green is ahead rather than pink possibly representing green "going on ahead." i believe this shows us greens view as we see him smiling. The next few shots show them walking along as their younger selves play around. ( we can also see character from numerous other mv like the girls from the chocolate mv and the reappearing cyclops.)
At this point green still doesn't know about pinks mental state shown by him at 2:39 taking a picture of the younger pink running, probably thinking he's still a kid and is the same.
At around 2:47 the lyric "if all we can do in life is look back then it's worthless" he walks on their pictures and sets them ablaze most likely as a sign of him saying that their time was pointless and/or burning the memories.
At 2:57 pinks mental state reaches the lowest point and he breaks. He drops his camera and at 2:58 we can see their silhouettes and we see pink breaking down in front of green.
at 3:00 green finally looks back and realizes whats happening along with the feelings of pink. All throughout the song pink talks about not being able not to do/say anything with him at this point saying that what he wants to say to green is "i miss you"
at 3:10 we see pink going deep into the waters as the demon swallows him. at 3:14 we see green coughing up blood either symbolizing worsening symptoms or being hurt at the sight of his friends mental state or a combination of both. he grips his chest and lets go of his camera which breaks.
At 3:22 pink goes under the surface, we see him going further and further down. as this is happening we see a piece of one of the pictures which was green smiling. the rest of the photos/pieces begin to glow. at 3:36 we see greens spirit going under as well. green wakes up.
i believe the golden city at the bottom may have been a representation of an afterlife which plays into the next part. when green opens his eyes and sees that pink is going to where he was going he rushes down to save him. At 3:50 he reaches his hand pulls him out to which pink is surprised. they leave the water and green smiles happily. I think it was a representation of pink being saved by the pictures of green that were left smiling.
At 4:03 his cameras color changes from black to white. i think the white camera represents happiness/ a different. so green changes the way pink views the world by changing it white similar to how pink changes green's perspective by giving him the white camera earlier in the video.
Greens spirit flies to the sky and pink sees this and smiles , this most likely represents green leaving and leaving behind pink with anew out look on life as the world is colorful once again. Pink takes a picture and the mv ends with a lyric saying "the next time we meet i'll be the one blushing, It's a promise"
The final shot is of picture with the two of them smiling which i believe was the one that might've saved pink as it isn't torn up, perhaps him seeing it was represented by green pulling him out of the water.
As always it was beautiful work made by e ve and all the people who worked on it, the mv and his song were a master piece put together.

I think the cameras represent how they were searching for the colour and fun in the world. When the two main characters are together, the world would become more "colourful", making it seem like a full picture. Then one of them died, leaving the other to believe that the world can never become fun and colourful again, leading him to stop looking for new things to enjoy, thus, abandoning his camera. In the end, he moved on and started searching again.
I think the song represents that if you lose someone close to you, it's not wrong to be happy without them. It isn't disrespectful to them if you enjoy life even if they're gone.

As a person who studied photography for 4 years, I can say that this music video made me cry. It perfectly represents the emotions that a photo or simply a memory can convey. Art is nothing more than a way to express your soul, and photography is no exception. Each image that the camera captures is a world where you can see so much beauty, kindness, loneliness, hate ... You can give the message you want.

追記考察：MVと歌詞の考察をしました。
声優さんのお声が入ってる部分【0番】とし、少し飛ばします。
1番 本当は違いますが、0:55~1:57【赤髪の子→以下「赤」の視点】
赤のクラスに緑髪の子→以下「緑」が転校してきた。赤は友達がいっぱいいて明るいキャラ。緑は暗めの印象。赤は緑に興味を持つ。二人には共通の趣味があった。写真を撮ることだ。赤は黒のカメラ、緑は白のカメラを持って撮影に出かけた。そこで偶然出会い、互いにひかれあっていく。
※考察①…白いカメラは…「勇気」。
赤が緑に白いカメラを渡すシーンがある。白いカメラはもともと緑の持ち物なので、これは現実ではなく、暗かった緑に光が差し込む様子を表していると考えられる。赤と緑が偶然出会ったところからMVがモノトーンからカラーになったことからも同じことが言える。
1番最後 1:57~2:08
写真をたくさん撮っていることから、時が流れていき、緑と赤の友情も厚くなっていったことがわかる。クラスの人気者の赤と仲良くなった緑は、今まで興味を持たなかったクラスメートからも声を掛けられ、仲良くなる。一方、赤は自分の友達が緑のほうへ流れていき、少しずつ孤立していく。
※考察②…緑が咳をするシーン…友達が増える緑だったが、赤がどんどん孤立していくのに気づき、心に傷→病を負う。
2番【緑の視点】2:08~3:39
赤が、ついにひとりぼっちになる。歩く順番も、少し前とは逆で緑が先頭にいる。緑の顔はすっきりとしているが、赤はずっと俯いたままであることからも二人の立場の逆転が感じられる。しかし緑は、笑っているようでいつも赤のことを考えている。2番の歌詞が緑の心情だとしたら、立場が変わってしまってうまく笑えない、それでも赤に笑ってほしいという緑の気持ちが伝わってくると思う。二人でずっといたいけど、前みたいに対等な関係が良かった、これじゃ赤を自分が傷つけてる。緑はそう思ったはず。
※考察③…写真が燃えていくシーン…「写真＝想い出」。
その想い出を自分から燃やす→なかったことにする赤。2:57より赤が緑に叫ぶシーン。赤が一方的に緑に嫉妬し、感情的になってしまう。緑はついに心の病が重くなり、カメラを落とし、倒れる。たぶん精神的に立ち直れない状態になり、落下していく様子からも気持ちがどんどん沈んで心の底に落ちていく様子が表れている。
※考察④…黒いカメラは…「心の闇」。
白いカメラを持っていたはずの緑が倒れた後、沈んでいくカメラは黒色に見える。また、最初から黒いカメラを持っていた赤。クラスの人気者であったが、どこか自分に満足しない人生を送ってきていた過去があり、緑と出会うことが人生の分岐点だったのかもしれない。
最後に見えた光、それは二人の写真だった。
ラストサビ【赤の視点】3:39~4:30
赤の登場。歌詞からあるよう、やはり緑のことが、緑と過ごした時間が、緑の笑顔が忘れられない。緑に見えた写真、それは赤にも見えたのだろう。落下していく緑を追いかけ、そして手を取った。
※考察⑤…手を取った時の赤の表情…驚いたような、夢から覚めたような、そんな表情。
無意識にも緑のことを心の中で想っていた自分への驚き、緑の手を取れた喜び、何か大切なことに気付いたような顔である。
赤の黒いカメラ【心の闇】が、緑によって白いカメラ【勇気】に変わってゆく。緑が、赤に白いカメラをもらった時のように、赤が緑に勇気を与えたように、緑も赤に勇気を与えた。そして緑は消えてゆく。たぶん転校だと考えられる。
緑からもらった勇気を、笑顔を、すべてを忘れずに生きる。
約束しよう。
0番【赤の視点】0:00~0:42
水にカメラが落ちていくところから始まる。黒いカメラであるため、「心の闇」がなくなりつつある様子を表している。赤が煙草を吸っているため、これは何年か後の世界。(1番では制服を着ていたため、高校生ぐらいだと思われる。)どこか憂鬱そうな表情を浮かべる赤。緑がいなくなった後の悲しさが少しだけ残っていることがわかる。しかし、心に傷を負っているわけではない。ただ面白く、少しつまらない日々が過ぎていくだけだった。
「やっと会えた。」
白いカメラのシャッターの音。振り返ると、緑が立っていた。
「久しぶり。」そう言って緑は笑った。
※考察⑥…緑の笑みは「はにかみ」ではない。心から笑っていた。
白い世界【つまり白いカメラ】の中では、時間が止まってゆくような気がした。カメラは静止画をとるのだから、時間が止まっているのは当たり前だが、ここではただ、再会を喜ぶ感情として、「時間が止まってほしい」という想いとして使われている。
0番【緑の視点】0:42~0:55
※考察⑦…いつも見せないような表情が…赤のはにかみ。
ラストサビ最後で「今度は僕からはにかんでみせるの」という歌詞がある。いつも気を使ってはにかんでいたのは緑なので、赤のはにかみはあまり見たことがないはず。そうやってはにかんでくれる、その距離が、緑には愛おしかった。対等に接してくれたあのころのような、そんな距離感が。
それがふたりの「約束」だったから。
Eveさん、この世界のありふれた言葉では伝えられないような、そんな曲を、ありがとうございました。
いつか伝えられる日まで、自分の心の物語が終わりを迎える、その日まで生き続けます。

SO BASICALLY MY THEORY IS (This is only based on the visuals since I don't understand japanese and there are no subtitles by the time i'm watching this):
The story starts when the green hair guy (imma call him green) went to a new school(which was the school of the red haired boy that i'm calling red),. Green was alone so red saw him in class but didn't say anything cuz he was with friends and wasn't just gonna say hi to this random kid. (00:58)
Then they both go on a boat trip I'm guessing? and they go to the same place to take pictures(1:04), they notice each other and become friends (which is what i think the colours mean in 1:22). They start spending their time together.
But we can see green has some kind of disease when he coughs in 2:03)
Then I assume green dies (which is represented by the city being destroyed/the monsters etc in 2:57)
Red sinks into depression as we can see in 2:08 in 2:45 (i think him burning the pictures means he's trying to erase his memories with Green) and in 3:19 to 3:26
Now let's go back to the beginning of the MV. I think in here Red throws his camera to the sea/river as he sees no more meaning in photography. He then hears the voice of Green (i don't know Japanese but from my knowledge from anime i think he says something along the lines of ''I finally found you'' ''Long time no see''). Red is surprised by earing Green's voice but soon realizes that it was just his imagination (also because Green's already dead). We can confirm that he's dead since in 00:23 we can see he doesn't have that floating thing that Red has.
In 2:21 to 2:44 we can see Red and Green walking together (even tho Green's just in Red's imagination). They walk through the places they used to play as Red remembers when they were young. I think this means that Red's always thinking about Green and their memories.
Then in 3:27 we see Red sinking (he might be comitting suicide even tho i'm not rly sure about it), but when he's about to drown he touches Green's photo, in other words, he remembers Green. The whole city lights up with their memories and Green appears (in the form of a guardian angel or something of the genre, i assume 3:37) and saves Red 3:53
In the end, we can see that Red moves on and starts taking photos again! 4:08

Great theory! Yeah at the beginning green does say “long time no see”. I just wanted to point out a detail I noticed even tho it might mean nothing. At 0:25 you can see both of their reflections on the ground. Red has some kind of like... alien thing whereas green is just human. Idk just something i noticed. or maybe thats what you meant by floating thing??

Here’s my theory (it’s super early for me and I’ve only watched the video once so);
Pink haired boy met green haired boy during their middle school days and they became unlikely friends through a shared pass-time; photography. For Pink, it was a secret new hobby while Green took it more seriously and shared his passion for it.
Pink eventually learns to love photography because of Green so he often associates the two together.
They really hadn’t expected to get super close since Pink was very extroverted and Green was the exact opposite but this made them stick closer together and there wasn’t a day that went by without them hanging out and making memories with photos. Pink made Green open up and become happier, and Green gave Pink a purpose in life.
Those glowy beings that seem to always follow them? I think they represent the boys’ soul, hinting that they’re soulmates. Whether it be platonic or romantic, up to the viewer, but nonetheless they completed each other.
But life eventually got bad when Green fell sick. Pink no longer had the same passion for photography as he watched his soulmate died, but on his deathbed, Green made Pink promise to continue to take photos and not let his memory die in vain.
Eventually Pink stops taking pictures anyways which is what I think the scene where the photos burn up and the “soul” consumes him, comes in. I also think it wasn’t metaphorically, and in a fit of anger he began burning and ripping apart photos in order to erase the hurt he was feeling.
But when he saw Green’s face in the torn photo, he remembers why he loved photography in the first place and doesn’t want to break his promise or let Green’s death be in vain.
Pink realizes that the photos, in a way, keeps them together even if they’re in different realms, waiting to be reunited.
So Pink keeps his promise, and continues to use Green’s camera in order to capture the beauty in the world and maybe feel a little less lonely.
A bittersweet ending.

The lyrics are beautiful, though they bring some confusion. All in all, it's clear that the song is about relationships, whether platonic or romantic. But, if animation makes it heavily seen as green boy dying, the lyrics actually kinda more sound like a break-up. So now I'm actually left unsure, whether the song is about green confessing feelings and red not accepting him (and regretting later), green dying and red mourning him (whether as a lost lover or best friend), or just two of them having a fight and never seeing each other again, with red, again, regretting it.
Though, it does seem that Red both mourns and has regrets. So another theory is that, once he learned that Green is ill, he couldn't accept it and just ran away, instead of spending his last time with him. And now that Green is dead, he regrets his decision and is now full of pain and regret. Whether it's about friendship or romance, it's heartbreaking either way.

I found that Eve’s song lyrics never say like “Hang in there” or ‘go for it” like songs these days. But tears naturally fell from my eyes and then I feel so relieved when I listen his songs. Another hard day but I feel that he knows everything and even then he still close to me. Actually even me as a Japanese, his words are complicated. from clip alone, it looks like this tells a story about a relationship that was brought together by sharing a hobby between the two main characters we see, then an external reason made one of them stop pursuing said hobby (i'm thinking it was a terminal disease but it could be anything that represents loss of interest aswell, since we see the representation of fire slowly "burning out" the photos, maybe representing burnout), the other person accepts that and holds on to the memories they once had with photographies.

i don't think he stopped pursuing photography, the green guy died (and is at the start of the video) so the red guy got really depressed and was only reminded of his lost friend/lover by photography, so he didnt want to do it anymore. But the promise he made with his late friend/lover dragged him out of depression and back into the hobby that they both loved so much.
with that being said, youtube removed the option for random people to submit subtitles (from what i know) so its not entire confirmed whether or not this song will have an english translation or not
I also just noticed that you can identify the scenes where green guy is dead by his clothes. He wears dark clothing when hes alive, probably representing how he was sad because he didnt have any friends because he was probably shy and a new student. And he wears light clothing when he is already dead from his disease or whatnot

My theory:
Just like Cameras can store memories, green was a transfer student, pink and green had same spirits- spirit to take photographs,
when they met each other, their spirit grew stronger and they started to recognize their live for photography ( you can see the spirits growing )
at the start, we see pink's spirit in the reflection- i.e. pink still have a spirit to take photos, but keeps it in shadow;
green doesn't have the spirit and you'll only ever stop doing things you love is when you "die" or are at death-bed
pink can't get over with green's death and the saga is how green wants pink to move on.
Towards the end, pink is afraid that he'll forget about green to which green helds his camera to pink-implying green saying that his "memories" will always be with pink and he can use those memories

i know people have different analogy of this song and mine could be wrong but its just the way i relate with it. i perceive both the characters as parts of myself, pink one is the grown up one, which had to become as he as as the time passes and the green one is my past self or how i was in my childhood, who has died. at first, green is afraid of the world because he hasn't grown yet, while the pink side trying to keep up with things and convince green that it's okay and there is no need to be afraid of anything, i promise you that you won't get hurt. green looks up to the pink side and becomes more open to things while pink side grows up more on the practical side of things and realize that life isn't easy after-all, with all the darkness and demons we have to face, we grow up burning our past selves, and falling down, getting depressed, giving up.. but the green side which has almost died out comes to rescue pink and to let him know that it's okay, and saves him from the darkness, and pink smiles once again remembering about green. there were so many insignificant things, even so it was fun. it'd be nice to continue like this forever and ever..
