      I heard that getting into a university in Japan is about 100X harder than it is to graduate university. They study like hell throughout High School and then get to relax once they get accepted into a college/university. The opposite of most places.

    • @nameisnotimportant6219
      @nameisnotimportant6219 3 роки тому +1

      @@astoraan6071In my country they have a special entrance exam for medical and engineearing. If you want to get into a medical or engeenering collage then you need to study both 11th and 12th grade at the same time plus some extra studies for the exam itself. not to mention that you still need to pass your 12th grade board exams. Even if you are not going in any specialized stream it's still really hard to get in a good collage to get your Batchelder's degree. So I think that it won't be so bad after all.

    • @astoraan6071

      @@nameisnotimportant6219 That sounds quite rough, I live in the UK and I'm currently at University studying mechanical engineering, in high school (11-16) I only studied a little bit for the final senior year exam to get into a specific college (in the UK College and University are two different things with college being mandatory before university). Mechanical engineering in college was probably the easiest 2 years of my life and there are no such thing as entrance exams here. After I finished college I got accepted into university and I'm in my first year now, but the work they give in university is quite hard.

    Hi! Great video :) - Keio University looks super great and sophisticated! I'm currently studying economics and I'm planning to do an exchange for one semester here. What are your thoughts about their faculty of economics, in terms of the students' lifestyle and such? Is it that hard if you're not that fluent in Japanese?
    Would love to see your thoughts and advice on these :D

    • @wind7519
      @wind7519 7 років тому

      I think most schools require a proficiency in Japanese, but it probably varies on subject matter. Since you study economics, it might be easier considering the psets and math involved, but I'm pretty sure any terms they use would be in Japanese, maybe some with English.

      +jukkis6699 Everyone learns things at a different speed but a year should be enough to get the fundamentals! Just use your time wisely :) Good luck with your university entrance exam!!

      I love nature, so the Ahvenanmaa archipelago (island clusters in the Finnish coast line)
      or the north lapland is pretty amazing
      and there is the lake lands in central Finland, we do have hundreds of thousand of lakes!
      Like I said, I love nature XD

    • @internationallyME
      @internationallyME  8 років тому

      Ahh really? Maybe it has something to do with the weather? I really enjoyed my time at Keio and this campus. However, there are two main campuses (Hiyoshi and this one) and Hiyoshi is for 1st/2nd years so it's more lively and fun - Mita is more sophisticated compared to that haha.
      I had many friends who went to Waseda too - my impression of Waseda was that the Japanese there were more outgoing and drank a lot lol.. But really both are great unis so I think they both will be great experiences!!

    • @xiknxxx
      @xiknxxx 8 років тому

      Yep, I did! :) The Waseda campus was really beautiful with lots of students and it just seemed really welcoming in general. Lots of people playing Pokemon Go on campus as well hahaha :)

    Thank you for your video! It was very good *.* Now I love Keio even more hahaha. I've been interested in studying in Keio since I knew that Sakurai Sho was an alumni from here and now I really want to go to Keio graduate school, guess I have to study really hard to be able to enter this university xD I'm new to your channel, so if it's okay, can I ask you which department did you study during your exchange here? I have been looking at their homepage, looking if they have some kind of exchange or internship program in their laboratory and I have found nothing :( thank you! :D

    Hello! This video was perfect for me since (if the current situation doesn't get worse) I'm going to be studying at Keio for a year starting next fall! I currently only know beginner Japanese (some phrases/words and can read hiragana/katakana) and I'm worried I'll feel left out if I don't learn more before going. Do you remember if there was anybody in your time at Keio who barely spoke Japanese and still had a good experience? Or do you recommend I study as hard as I can beforehand?

    Wow, that is such a huge university. I would love to go to university in Japan, even though I am long done with university. What level of proficiency, do you need in Japanese to attend university in Japan?

    • @internationallyME
      @internationallyME  8 років тому +3

      +brielle8383 It depends what university you enter but normally if you're an exchange student coming to learn Japanese, level doesn't really matter. But if you want to attend normal Japanese classes then you have to have a high level of Japanese! Hope you have a great weekend :)
