  • After completing the mm11 covers, I think it’s only fitting to cover one of my favorites from the ones who inspired this whole project.

Beautiful cover!! The mourning piano and wistful way you sing the lyrics ("was I wrong?") are such a perfect encapsulation of what this song needs

Even as a robot mega man started out as a human [unless I missed something obvious , which is common], and was made to save the world which includes the death of a few robots. Alright, fine they were evil and whatever. then it happens again, and again, and then the robots aren't actually evil this time, and it just keeps going again and again. Megaman has long passed the original war he was meant to fight, and now its just his life. he [supposedly] has come to terms with his loss of humanity and is committed to cause. Though, bloodshed isn't just something one can forget [unless its deleted from his memory lol].

It's actually even sadder. Rock was a robot from the start, built to be a lab assistant to Dr. Light. He requested to be converted into a fighting robot after Dr. Wily stole and reprogrammed the first six Robot Masters. Those were very much his brothers, just as much children of Dr. Light as he or his sister Roll were. He had to kill his own family because of this madman's jealousy, and just when he thought the battle finished, Wily returned with 8 of his own Robot Masters, inspired by the original 6. I can only imagine that felt like killing his own extended family. Murdering his own kind for the sick and twisted amusement of a sad, jealous, bitter old man. And so the cycle continues, time after time, until Mega Man 7, where Rock finally snaps, and almost kills Wily for the sake of humanity, the only thing holding him back being his own lack of humanity. Being a robot, he was coded to never be able to harm a human being, to follow Asimov's 3 laws of robotics. He could have ended the cycle there, ended this years-long war, had he only been human, or had the will to truly self-determine. And so the cycle continued, Wily's ambition lasting well beyond his own death. Mega Man never successfully kept Wily down. In the end, Mega Man is destined to fail. After all of that pain, all of the bloodshed, all of the mental anguish for all parties involved, he failed. He failed because he was only a robot. Only a war machine.

@@DarktheEagle And worse? The cycle of war and destruction continues even further through Light and Wily's legacies: X and Zero, who got it worse than Rock (the original Megaman) generation. Though at least, it ended up peacefully solving the feud between man and machine.
