I recently purchased a RazoRock Game Changer 68-P with the "Super Knurl" handle and I couldn't be more pleased. Having worked in Aerospace for 30 years, I've become jaded with machine goods. So, imagine my surprise when I received my new RR GC 68-P. This razor is beautifully machined. While I didn't breakout my Micrometer or Dial Indicators, my calibrated eye told me tolerances were kept to a bare minimum and blade lockup is solid as a rock. The 'knurling' on the handle is comfortable, not too sharp and it provides a secure purchase. You don't have to worry about wet hands. This razor is affordabley priced. In fact, in the world of stainless steel razors, the RR GC 68-P is a steel at $55 USD.
Great review as always Matt, I have the GC in the .84 blade gap and love how it performs. Medium aggressive, but very smooth and no irritation. The quality is great and the blade exposure is perfect every time due to the tight tolerance.
I have both plates, use them both and they actually shave quite similarly. If you have 4 days’ growth then the .84 will be a benefit. I shave every other day at the longest, and get no real performance jump with the .84. If I really have stubble to mow down, I pull out my Rex Ambassador and slow down. The extra blade exposure on the Ambassador means paying stricter attention to preshave preparation, razor angle, pressure, speed and position. It’s a different game that rewards concentration and care with high efficiency. I’m not fond of the kind of care it requires. I have a Karve C plate safety bar, a Rockwell 6s and a scalloped bar Timeless that all give me incredibly smooth shaved without the bother of the Ambassador, so she doesn’t come out very often. The Rex loves a sharp blade. I get the best shaves from PolSilver blades and Feather with it. Those neutral gap razors are happy with Astra greens, Permasharps, Voskhods, Personna Reds, Gillette Wilkies and Nacets, and of course PolSilver and Feather. But to get top performance from the Ambassador you want a very sharp blade that ensures performance with absolute minimal pressure. Because that aggressive exposure is going to bite if you use pressure no matter what blade you loaded. Back to the Game Changer-loaf any favorite blade and she runs happily on autopilot with hardly any adult supervision. You are free to enjoy the scent of your soap and the music you have in the background. It is a 3-pass for BBS and I know Matt is a 1-pass shaver. I find trying to achieve reasonable closeness in a 1-lather shave to be unsatisfying and ultimately more irritating to my skin than a 3-pass shave with a neutral-exposure razor. So that’s the kind of razors I use every other day.
💈💈 Nice review Matt. Yes, I've had the Razorock Game Changer for some time now, got the .84 base plate as soon as it came out. Absolutely one of my best shavers and most reached for razors, hits the sweet spot for me😊 Quality is second to none and the price is crazy affordable. Great video, thanks. Enjoy!
Great video Matt, I love how you showcase other products outside of Rex and RE. Italian Barber, thank you for all of your fantastic premium products for a price everyone can afford. I truly see Italian Barber as the shave shop for the people, I love this company. They have premium everything for very reasonable prices. Italian Barber has so many good razors that there is literally a razor for everyone. I own most of their razors because they are awesome and I want to support his business. I own the GC 68p, 76p, 84p and I generally prefer the 76p for daily shaves. I believe Matt would love the 76 or 84, the 68 is very mild but an excellent razor for those who love mild. I own the Rex Ambassador and Rex Konsul, which I consider elite razors. They are absolutely the highest tier of quality. However, Italian Barber gives people the opportunity to buy a premium SS razor at a price everyone can afford, and quality that far exceeds those common zamac mass produced Chinese cast razors.
Bought this razor teo weeks ago. 1st time wet shaver. I am very happy with this purchase and the way the razor performs, even though I have nothing to compare it to.
Nice from the point of view it doesn't have to be by the book, three pass shave, to be perfectly acceptable! In terms of where I think the business needs to go, I reckon it's doing just fine. You absolutely can enjoy the hobby on a tight budget, or you can go completely 'mad', and still achieve a great job. You touch on it here, but I would like to see these videos from yourself and others explain the significance of the blade gap/blade and the impact of this in a shave. Cheers for now Matt.
0.68 and Voshkod blade for me is a solid combo, as a mild shaver the blade paired with 0.68 was very forgiving, I could hardly feel the blade. SOLID SHAVE, and first time with Voshkod blade, the blade is going to one of my blades now, solid blade discovery.❕👌💈
I think they save cost by the finishing. They don't do hand polish, they do it from a machine they own( This keeps the precise tolerances as well). Pretty much impressive product line. I love RazoRock, and always in the lookout for their new releases.
Hi Matt, I have the •68 open comb and I love it and today I took delivery of the •84 closed comb. I am looking forward to trying it once I get some decent growth. I was really impressed with my •68. Really smooth and close shaving. Dave.
Dear Dave I love the GC closed 84p, and I was wondering to buy the plate of open comb 68, always for a daily shave. How your experience with that? Thank you and greetings from Switzerland
@@danilobernaschina1842 Hi Danilo, The •68 open comb razor is really superb! It is smoother than the •84 closed comb but it's very efficient. I removed 7 days of growth on Sunday in 2 passes plus pick-ups. I would highly recommend it Sir! Take care and stay safe, Dave.
Nice video Matt, thanks. I’ve almost pulled the trigger on the Game Changer a couple of times but I just don’t NEED another razor, you know? Of course, that’s never stopped me before. BTW, nice close-up at 0:26 to feature your go-to move, the Pisarcik Flip. Next time add slo-mo. 😆
I have the GC .84 and it gives a reasonable shave. It's a medium aggressive to slightly lower medium shave IMO. Now they have OC series of the .84 and they might of bumped the aggression up a notch? I have a lot of other fine razors that will give a great shave also that are vintage, the old timers tested razors with care and made sure customers were going to be happy happy before their products went out the factory door IMO!
I love my GC with the .84 blade gap. This is my favorite razor. The .68 blade gap is a little to mild for me. Please try the Razorock Wunderbar or the SLOC for your next review.
Just ordered gamechanger and came here to soak up all the comments about it and be prepared to delve into this higher level of shaving with SS. I’m coming from a cheapo king c Gillette so this was a big step for me a small step for you more experienced shavers
I have the king c also, and was thinking of getting the GC68 just because I hate the king c handle, how are you find the aggressiveness compared to the king c.
Which version of the GC did you get and how do you like it compared to the King Gillette? I currently use the GCK but have the GameChanger .84p on my Black Friday list.
I agree it's a great razor and outstanding value. My daily go-to razors are the Merkur 34c and the Muhle 89, both reasonably mild and about perfect for me on the daily shave basis. I recently purchased the .84 version Game Changer. I love it for its quality and feel and it's perfect for getting the job done every OTHER day -- if I use it daily, it leaves me a bit raw. Worth mentioning though, that i shoot for a single pass against the growth shave, so i am aware that's probably asking for too much!
Hi Matt- Great shave and razor review; thank you! Yes this is definitely a nice razor. A little care is needed with the .84, but it yields a great shave. I hope you have a great weekend ahead and all the best!
Thanks for doing an objective review of other products Matt. I have both the open comb and safety bar .84 Game Changer and I love them. By far the best bang for your buck on the market.
Got my gamechanger right after I graduated college. I have a bunch of other razors but the GC cured my rad. I rarely use anything else now. Smooth, efficient for me and avoids irritation and makes nicks, especially from the blade tabs, a thing of the past. The GC I can see being a razor I'll have for a very long time probably forever.
I have a Fendrihan mk1 black scientist razor. It is stainless as well. Love that one as its one and closed comb. Wife also has a stainless fendrihan razor. she couldn't be happier even after trying a bunch of my vintage Gillette's and injectors.
Thanks for the video. You say tge gamechanger would be for a beginner in wet shaving. What would you recommend for next level? Between this and, let us say, your Rex Ambassador?(which I think looks awesome)
I hear people that shave for a few years already liking this razor a lot. I don’t really like the term ‘beginner razor’, since it doesn’t mean experienced shavers won’t get great shaves out of it. There are razoer that you would advice beginners more than other razors, but that’s mostly due to aggressiveness.
Jeroen ...I agree to the tee. I still sometimes use my EJ DE89 and the Merkur 34C both of which have been and still are touted as entry-level, ‘beginner’ razors. I’m no beginner nor are these two razors redundant for longtime DE wet shavers like me. You’re right, it’s really only down to the aggression factor. That’s why I still think that men who are only going to have one, or at most, two DE safety razors, ideally ought to invest in a quality adjustable type razor. That way, you get all the versatility you want in a single razor, depending on your beard growth, how mild or aggressive you want your shave to be etc... I love my Rockwell 6S best, followed by the Muhle R41 open comb Grande. I have seven razors; planned on buying no more. But the GameChanger (.84) and the Rex Ambassador tempt me every day. The Rex’s steep price tag is the only reason why I’m yet to have it in my vault. 🙂
@@sajjadhusain4146 get the gamechanger. It as good as the ambassador but way way less. No one on the planet gives value like Joe and Michael at Italian Barber. If you can't stop your obsessive personality I obviously can't make you stop buying the ambassador maybe only your therapist can! LOL
@The*Imp1916 gamechanger is as good as both my Wolfmans. Nothing can touch the gamechanger in terms of value. CNC 316L marine stainless steel. The GC is no doubt the Harley Davidson of RAZORS. Spend less for a rice burner or more for a BMW.
Thanks for the review Matt. I would love to get the Rex in the tumbled or semi polished finish a la the GameChanger. I’ll be one of the first in line if you end up offering that option. 👍🏻
I have the .68 Gamechanger and find it it to be one of my favorite razors, along with the new Parker semi-slant. Both very efficient and pleasing to look at. Someday, someday, I hope to have a Rex Ambassador. Recently bought a Fatboy and a slim, both good razors. My Fatboy was tuned up by you good folks, great job!
Yup! I have the 0.84 with Super Knurl Handle and it's pretty darn AWESOME! Of course I was on the email waiting list for months and got lucky checking my email at some ungodly hour BUT I got it :happydance:
I am eagerly awaiting for game changer( with the 0.68 blade gap), to come in the mail. I have another affordably priced stainless steel razor from a company called Fendrihan. It shaves very smoothly and efficiently. The Fendrihan razor appears to be molded stainless steel, unlike the Game Changer, which is CNC milled. Due the fact that I have highly sensitive skin, I tend to use DE razors which are of medium aggression/efficiency.

Awesome video and I’m shaving now with the new Gillette while I’m watching this video lol but I’m fixing to ask my wife to get me the game changer for Christmas
I have not tried a game changer, but I do love stainless steel construction. It puts my mind at peace that my Rex Ambassador will probably outlast me and not need replating or anything of that sort.
Thanks for the video. I have recently acquired the Gamechanger .84, a tad more aggressive than the .68 gap. I am extremely happy with the price and the performance. It really changed my game. I feel I have made an upgrade in my gear after 3 years wetshaving with "beginner" gear (Merkur 34C, Mühle R89). I highly recommend it.

Hello. Great shave and insights into the razor. You also mentioned the Edwin Jagger 3ONE6 in the video. Any chance of a video comparing the two razors? I have the Game Changer with the 0.68 base plate. I can do a daily two-pass shave without irritation. It works well for me so I doubt I'll upgrade to the 0.84 blade gap. I also have a Weber (with the Weber head) stainless steel razor (a little too aggressive to use every day), ABT Atlas R1 (also too aggressive for everyday use). I also have a couple of hybrid razors: Ikon Shavecraft (works well for me) and a Merkur 43C (haven't used it in a while, but I remember getting away with a one-pass shave with it). I like the stainless steel razors, but overall they're usually too aggressive for me.
Great video. This razor is on my radar. Always seems to be sold out on their site though. Have done a review of the Karve razor? I recently got one and I love it. It's started to become a daily driver for me. I seem to be reaching for it almost every shave.
Ed James lucky tiger face wash is totally awesome! It’s cheap and works very very well for me. Not harsh at all. Doesn’t leave my face dry or stripped. Also the shave cream/face balm/after shave all pair together perfectly!!! Not sure what Matt uses though 😞
Have you seen or heard of their newest razor, the Razorock Switch? It's a pretty fun little razor and combines two different razor styles: the Razorine shavette and a standard looking double edge into one product. You can actually reconfigure it between those two styles. I have the matte black finish and I really love it. I would say it's about aggression. Hope you can do a little bit of a showdown with that one too!
I have the 6C and both CC game changers. 68P and 84P. All three are great razors. All are smooth. Of course with the Rockwell you have more options. My favourite is the 68P. Mild z yes, but still very effective! BBS is possible but nicks, cuts or razor burn! The 84P is not that much difference. Not really more efficient but not that smooth... Still smooth, but not THAT smooth. Your decision at the end. Won't regret it. All are Great!
I have only used Rockwell 6C. I am looking for stainless steel razor now such as Rex Envoy, Rockwell 6S, Razorock Gamechanger 0.84. What would you recommend?
Matt could you do a review of a couple of other highly reviewed DE razors. Was hoping to see some Timeless reviews in particular the Stainless Steel Open Comb .95. Open Comb Game Changer definitely on my list of upcoming razors. Really enjoy my Rex! It’s a high quality razor. Definitely on my top 5 and one I reach for often. Keep up the great work!
Really looks like a nice razor. I've been looking at it for a while but is very hard to find it available on their website. BTW, you know what Matt, I have 138 shaving videos on my channel, and none of them feature the Razor Emporium official Black & Blue T-Shirt. I find that sad, don't you? 😉

Great looking razor, appears to work well. Sadly wouldn’t buy it as the parent company is Italian barber.... my experience with them was horrible and they lacked all customer service skills. We’re very horrible to me. So wouldn’t give them any more support in buying their product. Saddens me that their lack of helpfulness ruined their line of products totally. So many other better companies out there with fantastic products as well with great customer service.
If the razor's performance is reminiscent of a Tech (and the head looks exactly like a Tech's), why not simply get a vintage Tech on E-Bay? It would be cheaper, and, having lasted a half century or so, it's not like the Tech wouldn't last indefinitely. There do seem to be so many new razors coming out, but they largely appear to repeat longstanding designs. What is the new and non-obvious practical advantage of the Gamechanger?
I am just glad that there is a company making quality stuff for a good price. I have a mint condition gold 1953 ball end tech, if I ever need to replace it it's good to know there is new options out there. There will be a time in the future that finding a mint condition 100 year old razor will be hard to do.
Nope, have never tried the Razorock Gamechanger. I have a stainless steel(at least that is what it was advertised as)DE razor that I bought for $13.00 and it shaves as well as my actual(non-knock off)Edwin Jagger DE 89 L so I probably won't end up buying one of these unless I find it 2nd hand...

I want to try the open comb version. I lean more towards the aggressive razors.
Interesting razor, might put it on the bucket list.
Razorock’s stainless steel and aluminum parts are made in Canada, the chromed zamac parts are outsourced to China.
Is it still your go to?
First off I enjoy your videos.with so many new razors it makes me wonder.do you think the masses will ever return to de shaving?
Wet shaving is only growing. The name of the game is converting the new shavers into DE before they learn about cartridge / electric.
@@RazorEmporium I have a 15 yr old
He grows a 15 hair " beard",.that he shaves.I ask him if he shaved like a man, using a blue tip gillette that I gave him.or a like a metro sexual sissy with a cartridge.
Looks like a nice razor at a great price point. How would you compare this to the 3ONE6 as far as quality and performance?
The .68 was too mild for me. I bet the .84 would definitely have worked better, but haven’t tried it yet.
The .84 is a great step up in efficiency IMHO.
Used mine tonight. It’s not just a Gamechanger in price but performance too. There isn’t anything I don’t love about it.
How is it comparing to Rockwell 6S I use plate 3 does this have similar plates?? And irritation wise?
Alan
Thanks for the vid, Matt.
Great shave, Matt! thanks.
Mildest razor RazoRock.68 or Edwin Jagger 3one6?
Now they have the Gamechanger Open Comb....that one si way, way better......smooth and very efficient
I have the .84 with the SB plate and the OC plate. As you say the OC plate is more efficiant than the SB plate but still smooth.
Great video. This razor is on my radar. Always seems to be sold out on their site though. Have done a review of the Karve razor? I recently got one and I love it. It's started to become a daily driver for me. I seem to be reaching for it almost every shave.
The Game Changer is available right now.
Andy Hedin I'll have to look into it. Thanks for the heads up!
The GC .84 is my “go to” razor. I am 51 with a moderately heavy beard with gray whiskers. I own a Rex as well.
Pegasus 898 I own two SLIMs and a Fatboy as every collector should. I still like the .84 better, and I got a JAWS baseplate as well. I sold my REX.
Pegasus 898 Well, everybody is different. If you get great shaves from a razor, then go for it. If it ain’t broke, then don’t fix it. 🙌😁
Great Video Matt.
I just saw that gift and care sells these razors in Europe
You mentioned using a face wash. Do you carry some face wash? If not, what do you recommend?
Ed James lucky tiger face wash is totally awesome! It’s cheap and works very very well for me. Not harsh at all. Doesn’t leave my face dry or stripped. Also the shave cream/face balm/after shave all pair together perfectly!!!
Not sure what Matt uses though 😞
I use a face wash from costco ;)
RazorEmporium what brand? And is it harsh and leaving ur face feeling dryish?
Have you seen or heard of their newest razor, the Razorock Switch? It's a pretty fun little razor and combines two different razor styles: the Razorine shavette and a standard looking double edge into one product. You can actually reconfigure it between those two styles. I have the matte black finish and I really love it. I would say it's about aggression. Hope you can do a little bit of a showdown with that one too!
I'm trying to decide between this one and the Rockwell 6S. What's everyone's thoughts the two of them?
I have the Rockwell 6s and I find it awesome
Both are great choices
@@RazorEmporium That's why I am in a dilemma. It seems many razor just shaves great...
Great review!
$150 Rex? Another great video Matt
Great video. Thanks
Great review
Really looks like a nice razor. I've been looking at it for a while but is very hard to find it available on their website. BTW, you know what Matt, I have 138 shaving videos on my channel, and none of them feature the Razor Emporium official Black & Blue T-Shirt. I find that sad, don't you? 😉
It's available right now, go grab one!

Great info-thanks Matt!
I love a hotel towel shave I do that on my sunday shaves.
Am I too late for the t-shirt?!?!
Great review.
Great razor.
Doubtful that it's actually SS at that price point. The handle may be SS, but the head is likely cast zamak.
Nice!
Gillette super speed has 6.8
I wish Gillette still made safety razors.
The do....they are cartridge razors and very safe :) They'll never make DE because they'd loose a ton of money in every regards.
Good luck finding a game changer in stock. They are flying off the shelves. I believe he makes between 500-1000 a month and they are gone in one day.
💈👕👍
Very nice, thank you!💦
Man he sure wastes a lot of water...
The sink isn't real - it goes into a bucket and then we recycle it. no waste!
