Only 4 years ? ? ? What a disgraceful way to treat a murder victim. Absolutely no justice for the 10 year old, especially after the way the video clearly showed the abuse the dog suffered at the hands of its owner. Tragic ! ! !

That's the problem with powerful dog breeds, they attract the worst type of dog owners.
I adopted a dogue de bordeaux after his former owner had abandoned it because it wasn't aggressive enough.
Same type of person like you see here. Wanted a big strong dog to scare people. Only it was a gentile giant that didn't like to fight. And all he did was make the dog fearful instead of aggressive. Took me about a year to rehabilitate the dog.

I ran into a woman that was standing around like this with a pit bull of similar size on a harness. The dog was lunging at everyone and everything...just like this...dragging the idiot owner across a public area. She had no control of the dog and honestly enjoyed intimidating people with her aggressive dog. I was driving and the dog went after me through the window of my truck. I stopped immediately and asked her to take her dog back to her house because it was going to attack someone. She told me she would sick her dog on me if I didn't leave. Little did she know, I was armed at the time and the joke would have been on her. I told her I was calling the police and stayed on the phone with the operator as she ran away. Amazing how she could suddenly control her dog when she knew the police were coming. That dog would have killed someone. These owners are sick. I have owned pit bulls for years and never had a dog like this. Absolutely disgusting. I love dogs but I would not hesitate to kill one to protect the innocent.

He robbed the child of a life. He should get a life behind bars. The court would have you believe that it is worse to commit pre-meditated murder over a grudge or oppourtunity. I would say it's worse to murder without regard for whomever would be the victim and without reason and even without want for a specific person. But knowing full well that you place multiple lives at risk of that murderous outcome through your actions. Such as taking a large dog that you've made aggressive into public, Shooting a firearm into a random mass of people, or drunken operating craft and vehicles. It's worse that you don't care to put others at Risk. Just because you believe that you have the situation in hand and can manage the risk. That's not your choice to make.

Actually that’s not true. I’ve dealt with hundreds of rescue and abandoned dogs and the ones that were physically abused or beaten were not the dangerous ones. He had no clue how to handle a dog, the punching came way after the event so even if it was going to be effective it would not stop the behaviour. Dogs are dangerous either through territorial aggression (someone entering their space) or more commonly through prey drive…which these breeds of dog have in spades. It was noticeable when the dog was intensely focusing on the girl by the car. She was prey. The jumping and grabbing was never corrected, so each time the dog practiced it got more confident.
The child it killed was undoubtedly through prey drive, most child deaths by dog are. They make funny noises, move fast and jerkily, are small…prey. You never leave even a well trained dog with children alone if it’s got this drive. It can overwhelm them.

I saw one of these on a lead in Bristol by the main centre shops in the summer holidays, there were about a dozen children among the people waiting at the crossing, ages 8-12 I would guess, some were not with parents, the dog was walked up to the lights and began howling over and over, I've never heard a sound like it come from a dog before. It was straining and pulling and the guy holding it who looked very young himself was having a real job just to hold it. The children were all scattering to their left and right as the light went green. Very worrying.

The people near-by are probably known the dog and the dogs owner so he isn't aggressive towards them.
The passersby are trying to go about their business but just happen to be passing by this group of low-lifes and the dog will lunge at them. Every lunge forward doesn't actually seem sinister in intent (from what i can see), but to people walking by, it would be intimidating- and that is the purpose of owning this dog by these kinds of people.

If they had a couple of brain cells between them, they should know if they've got a dog with issues, not to stand right in front of a shop doorway! Adding to this, that guy is too lightweight to handle a dog that powerful anyway. They need to bring in IQ tests for people to own these powerful breeds. He doesn't care about the dog, it's just a status symbol for him to look hard while they're standing in front of a shop with their hoods up like wannabe bad man school kids. I feel sorry for the dog and the victims and hope the owners get smacked around a bit in prison to see how they like it.

There is no valid reason to own a breed like that at all. If you want dog to guard your home (for instance) there are plenty of suitable breeds although I wouldn't give this pair a poodle to take care of. I feel bad for everyone (except the two chavs) in this situation - yes, even the dog.

If you have ANY dog in your home, you have a responsibility to protect people from it. If you have one of these "dangerous " dogs in the home with children, then you are crazy and irresponsible, and deserve no sympathy for when things go wrong.
