Scott, thank you very much for uploading these videos. As an aspiring concept artist these videos are invaluable. I could never talk down the importance of just practice and plain old hard work, but even after hours and hours of practice, watching you solve different problems and work out different forms in space can quickly help me learn how to solve problems that would have taken infinitely longer on my own. All I can do is express my thanks and ask for you to please continue posting!
That is a Jimnie Light by Zebra. They are no longer in production but I think the refill is BR-6A-H-BK and you can find other pen holders that have this cartridge in them. Also a god pen is the Power Tank by UNI.
i have just managed to get into university to study video game art and illustration, your videos have shown me some amazing techniques and have inspired me a great deal so thanks a lot!
These short videos are great inspiration for the upcoming weekends where I have time to work on my own things. Thanks for that! Looking forward to the book! Will be adding it to my Scott Robertson book/dvd collection! (So happy my job has an education-budget that I control ;)
I love watching these... I bought your gnomon DVD (perspective drawing) years ago and learned a lot from it. So much so that I ended up teaching a class of adults 3 years later in a micro teach session. What is it about perspective drawing?? It's addictive :)
Hi. Thank for all your effort on sharing. Its very inspiring and helpful. I was wondering if you use these techniques in this video when sketching/drawing in photoshop. I find construction of spaceships, cars, etc very time-consuming when I draw in this way in photoshop. it takes a lot of time making construction lines, ellipses with minor axes and mirroring my shape over to the other side of my construction. But on paper its very quick and easy to use rulers and ellipses. Im working on speeding up my workflow and was wondering if you have some tips on this?
Hi there was wondering if you could make a video on all the different tools you use to draw am asking cuz I only ever drawn in pencil and would like to get in to other medium
i've been having these books in my wish list on amazon for a long time lol....How to Design: Concept design process, styling, inspiration, and methodology....How to Draw: drawing and sketching objects and environments from your imagination...How to Render: communicating form and rendering a wide range of materials..or these books have any thing to do with the book your talking about in your vids?
Scott, could you please do a video on creating environments using your abstract marker technique? I'd love to see how you get those cool effects using Copic markers and vellum, since I can't seem to find the technique anywhere else.
Hi Scott. I am a student currently at a design school in Vancouver. I am studying both industrial design and illustration. I have some questions--do I have to show my traditional drawing in my portfolio if I want to get into a industrial design company? I do most of my drawing digitally; however, my classmates in design department usually draw with traditional media. So do industrial design business prefer traditional drawing (markers and pens) ? Thanks, your video are great
The US military played with that a lot during the 1970-1980, but it was considered to be to instabile. Search for 'forward swept wing' on wikipedia to get the history of it :)
great video. I am still learning perspective stuff and your video is very helpful. Do you imagine the view point of a plane before drawing those perspective grids? In other word, is the perspective grid telling whether you are looking from the top or bottom?
Hey Scott, how are you releasing these books; are you doing draw, then render then design or just all at once? Mainly asking because i want draw asap :) Thanks.
What is the book weight of "How to Draw: drawing and sketching objects and environments from your imagination"? I'm from other country and they need to know so they will know how much they will charge me on shipping,

How to Draw. Just type that and my name in Amazon and you'll find it.
y'know. I was expecting him to carefully measure. Not just crap out perfect work as a 'sketch'
love the videos, great inspiration in the morning before painting.

It is listed on Amazon for $32.97, currently 40% off if you pre-order it.

Watching your methods helped me a lot in placing objects into a box in perspective, so to speak.
Yes, forward swept wings are fine as long as the airfoil cross section of the wing is correct.
These short videos are great inspiration for the upcoming weekends where I have time to work on my own things. Thanks for that!
Looking forward to the book! Will be adding it to my Scott Robertson book/dvd collection!

I'm very curious as to why you don't use pencils for the underdrawing.
Thank you for the feed back!
p.s Love your videos!! Hope to see more.
I can't wait to check out your book. I've found you exploration tip most useful.
Great work Scott, well presented and amazing work as always.

Mr. Robertson,
Very cool videos I have one question do you use velum paper or any old type paper?
Will
Excellent video as always, will your book be available world wide ?
The US military played with that a lot during the 1970-1980, but it was considered to be to instabile. Search for 'forward swept wing' on wikipedia to get the history of it :)
I like his style
Certainly, its very stylish :)
David, I use COPIC markers.
Not a pencil. It is a ballpoint pen by Zebra called Jimnie Light.
great video. I am still learning perspective stuff and your video is very helpful. Do you imagine the view point of a plane before drawing those perspective grids? In other word, is the perspective grid telling whether you are looking from the top or bottom?
Thanks. I usually start with some perspective grid guidelines to help establish the view, correct.

Ok.

I really appreciate when artists know the objects they are drawing. I'm tired of hearing "flap thingy" and "bullet clip."
Can you eyeball 2 point accurately at all?
How much do you anticipate your book will cost?
Hi mr. Robertson, what type of pencil did you use for this sketch?
