Hey Scott, as an illustrator myself I just wanted to say thank you so much for posting this kind of content literally for free. Having a legend like yourself explain their method and demonstrate it live is SO incredibly valuable, I really can't stress enough how useful this is. Thank you for all you do, much love.
Thank you Scott, watching you put theory into practice will never gets old. Your technique and thought process has completely transformed my sketches and understanding of communicating shape, Thank you.
I almost always avoided perspective and that limited me too much. I recently found your book and it has changed my whole vision of space. English is not my native language but I do my best to understand your classes. thanks Scott from Mexico
Scott is more than just a drawing instructor, he has worked on design for some serious companies. He's akin to having Syd Mead talk you through his thought process. I'd love to see a movie made with Scott's design's (art) used as the concept art.
@@johnoswald9143 Yes. I know his background. He is a drawing instructor. He is not *just* a drawing instructor, but he is a drawing instructor. When I tell my dad he’s the best dad ever, nobody corrects me to say that he’s not just a dad but also an amazing carpenter, amateur astronomer, forager, and dog-walker. They understand I’m just appreciating this one, very important aspect of him.
@@drawitout I know he’s a drawing instructor, I seen his drawing DVD’s. I was merely imparting knowledge, it wasn’t a correction, it was a confirmation. To have a professional at Scott’s level share his knowledge for free is rather special and generous. Am glad you like your Dad so much, mine was the best too.
Hi Scott. Which way do you think its better to learn perspective as begginer? Studying simple objects perspective through measurement methods or trying to get as accurate as posible intuitively. By the way, your videos are informative and amazing.
It's probably not an either or situation. When learning anything new I feel it's important to try as many "ways" of learning as well. We are all wired a little differently and what works for some may not work for others. Work from observation, try the technical constructions etc. each technique with inform the other and your knowledge will be much broader as a result.
This is great, thanks Scott! I was wondering if you could talk about flow/ gesture in your design process? I see gesture a lot in Syd Meads work but can't find a lot of info regarding his thinking on it. Any thoughts would be great.
P S D ... interesting . I've noticed you like to draw robots and mech that look like animals and sea creatures and you avoid making them look humanoid is there a reason for that or it's just because the human form is limiting and it can't be pushed for this sort of artwork ?
Probably the last part, I find the range of shapes inspired by animals to be more interesting. Also I usually like to add a rider/pilot to the mech for scale and this looks a bit odd to me on a humanoid mech unless you go really large with it ala Gundam style.
This helped put a lot, making proportions is my weakest point so this was really helpful, please do continue doing these great tutorials!
“Lets just have some triangles” You’re the bob ross of futuristic designs! 👏🙌
Nice! Thanks.
Not only for the excellent instruction...but it NEVER gets old just watching you draw. Love it!!

@@scottrobertsondesign thanks! I'll ask about those books. Best wishes and I will be watching your videos.
Amazing artwork! Thank you for sharing!!! 🔥🔥🔥
seeing the process that goes into thinking is very helpful
Love that Scott also shows us that drawing skills and writing has no connection. A relief!
How did I not know you were uploading weekly? I can’t wait to watch ALL the videos. You are the crème de la crème of drawing instructors! 😍

I see . Thank you for reply .
What is the name of the measuring tool you used? Thanks
Golden Section Dividers or Golden Ratio Dividers on Amazon should bring them up.
Would you like to make a video talking about lighting? thanks! nice content Sr.!
If you're looking for a tool similar to his just google proportional divider or golden ratio divider.
Yeah, there are a bunch available in the beauty supply industry. Mostly used to measure eyebrows it appears.
Yay

I think so.
