    Nice--that Pinetree point is awesome, I'm a complete newbie to arrowhead hunting, but eve I can recognize great knapping technique when I see it--and the person who made that point did a great job. And it ending up in your sifter thousands of years later, intact, what a great find! I notice sometimes a lot of "down-vote" on videos like this, and on fossil videos as well--why on earth would someone "down-vote" a video like this? Would think if you're not a fan of something you'd just move on, but for some reason they feel they have to down-vote. Oh well...their loss! Anyway, that was fun, thank you!

    Love your videos! I’m super frustrated. Been searching local creeks with documented Native American villages in the past. I’m from New Jersey. My town and our family’s farm sits right in what was once one of the biggest permanent Lenape areas. Apparently due to the immense “argillite” deposits we have. I’ve been actively looking for years with no luck. Most walk creek beds. Any suggestions? Maybe I could try using a sifter as you did in this video. Thanks, and keep the awesome vids coming!

    OK. The deep barbs at 1:30 & 2:30 I recognize as Poverty Point work, can 1000bc. It's common in SW Arkansas. The barbs usually exist on one side of the atlatl dart head so the two deep barbs at 2:30 was something of a surprise and I wondered what that rock was for? Didn't seem like someone meant to throw it at something but the broken tip suggests otherwise. The rocks beyond, at 3:44 or so appear to be completely foreign to me and are from a whole different people and a whole different time.

    To think all these years I always imagined all the points were gray. It's been so interesting following you discovering these beauties. Do you have some thoughts on where the villages might have been located or has the geography changed too much over the millennia? And the same for sources of the red jasper? I remember seeing of a red jasper erratic somewhere in the states whose origin was traced to Canada. I'm wondering if that might be the source. I don't know offhand know where any deposits might be located in the US. Do you think all these points originated all over the place further north and have been washing down from a multitude of sources? That would probably be my guess.

    • @Theditchwalker
      @Theditchwalker  3 роки тому +2

      I would start where she found that drill....I like low spots and on the upstream side of the bar...keep in mind that they can't move around much in sand.,so they don't go far and can be congregated in a small relatively small stretch of stream....I do test digs...rule of thumb..30 mins you should find some flint flakes
