Suga had the hardest life (pre-debut) out of all members. At 13 he started writing lyrics and learning MIDI. His parents didn't support his passion for music. They were not financially stable and were being practical. They would even throw his lyrics to discourage him but Suga would sneakly continue to do it. "As for me... [my parents ]were very much against [me be coming a rapper] to make me consider [my choice],they hit [me] and fought, and things like this....so i made music[under those circumstances ] "I had some basic MIDI gear before entering the company ,things i'd bought as lyricist after saving up enough money by walking around 2 hours everyday and skipping dinners everyday." In his hometown, he used to work as a studio engineer while composing and performing in front of 2-50 people (he is part of a group called D-town then were he is one of the youngest). He worked underpaid ,sells his songs but often get scammed (getting away w/o paying). He said his parents never saw him performed back then. Suga went to Seoul at 17 to pursue music.A rural boy who went to Seoul, South Korea's capital city, even if many could not understand his dialect. Imagine pursuing your dream where no one believes you aside from your older brother. Where everyone told you that if you pursue music, you'll make your family broke. He only had one supporter that time, his older brother, to whom he would show his songs. When asked if his parents eventually gave him permission make music and Suga replies "Well.... before giving me permission ,i was already out and about doing music" He struggled financially in Seoul and admitted that before, he would have to choose between buying a two dollar noodles or using his money to take a bus (he will always choose to starve) .On wings concept interview he said that in the past,he had struggle to afford three meals a day. Q:"What happened in the past? " "I couldn't eat three meals a day it was hard" "When i was working in the studio,i arranged songs or make beats and even sold them. Then i naturally started to rap and did performances" Q:"How much did you earn? " "Nothing " Q:You said you're working though. "That's what it was like to work there. Usually we don't have any income. Working in the studio ,it was difficult to pay for food and transport .In front of the studio, there was a Chinese restaurant that sells jajangmyeon for 2,000 won,if i walked down further, there was a place that sells Janchi guksu for 1,000 won.I worry about it everyday. If i eat 1,000 won Janchi gukso,i could get the bus and if i eat jajangmyeon i would have to walk 2 hours to home. Even though it was tough, I want ro make music so i endured it." Suga/AgustD/Yoongi had nothing except his skill and confidence. He saw an audition poster(From Bighit) of a rap competition on which he participated and won 2nd place .On semi-finals ,participants were asked to perform same beat but write different lyrics but Suga modified the beat, not just wrote the lyrics which made him stood out. He was scouted later on. He is the only member who was already established producer before becoming a part of BTS. His parents couldn't support him in college for they were poor that's why, Suga worked part time jobs as well(at dawn) while maintaining going to school (at different times and end up sleeping most of the time because he's tired) and practicing as trainee .He also used to buy lottery tickets weekly because he was that desperate . When he was in college apart from working as sound engineer before, he had worked at a convenience store ,had taught composing an MIDI lessons, and another is that delivery job where he got into an accident (2012 pre-debut) and his shoulder got shattered .He didn't tell anyone afraid that the company will kick him out ,that's why his shoulder didn't heal right. This shoulder will be something that he will have to endure 9 years, later on. He told the members that he just fell down the stairs. Eventually the company found out about this injury and paid for his college tuition and hospital fees. Suga told the truth about to the member in 2018 "Burn the stage series". It's one of the factors as to why his mental health issues has worsened . It is music that save yoongi and it is also music which Yoongi lives for. (He's suffering for almost a decade because of tht injury that didn't heal right. It even come to a point where it become a hindrance to his everyday life. He once said in an interview that when he tried to lift a 50ml bottle when they were filming a commercial, his shoulder hurts) Suga, undergoing surgery last November , is his decision because he wants to continue performing on stage .BTS dance choreography is no joke and if you watch them perform you won't think he has an injury he's enduring. Suga received injections often when he performs on stage.Had his shoulder dislocated often too. I couldn't imagine how he managed to perform despite of that. If he hadn't talked about it, fans wouldn't know that his injury is constantly acting up. This is only part of his hardships. He really had gone through so much shit to get where he is at right now. "Bang pdnim(their boss) told me I've become much brighter after releasing my mixtape,he even asked me where the incisive person full of wrath from before had gone. It was my complex and the way to solve it was music i need to make. Agust D is Yoongi's way of healing himself and people who also has struggles and feeling hopeless. Now half a year later their debut (2013) ,his parents havrle shown their support to him .Yoongi was quite a rebel kid,as his members describe him and he also admitted it himself. He said he regretted being rebellious towards his parents .Now his parents are very supportive to him.
@@crystalsnow1138 Because he doesn't own copyrights. He sampled the sound of another artist, not bought it (or get from free library). So that song can only be released for free.
Great reaction this is a sequel to the title track MV AgustD and I love how they visually tie in. Yoongi was criticized for so long he suffered and he’s a brilliant musician. His beats and production is so unique. I can’t wait till you all do the 4Cyphers by BTS rapline.
Yoongi is not just leaping between 2 sides. We also have Producer Suga who composes and produces for other artists, which earned him an award for producing Suran’s Wine back in 2017. He also produced the latest version of Samsung ringtone Over The Horizon. It’s really amazing how he manages to create music for different genres and style.
Loved hearing your thoughts 💜 Just a little correction: the accident with his crushed shoulder happened while he was already in Bighit and he was scared to tell them so they wouldn't drop him, but when Bighit found out they helped him with bills. He also said that before that he used to b-boy, which he couldnt do anymore. And he got his operation at the end of 2020 when BE album was released (after Dynamite promotion ended), so most of 'Life goes on' performances were prerecorded before his operation. And he also didnt participate in the end of the year award shows (except on the phone and online where he was watching with fans and commenting on the boys performances). His first performance back was on the Bighit New Years online concert, but not for all songs.
Loved your thoughts and reactions. Teach it teacher, yes, this is from his first mixtape that is more about the development he went through as a person and an artist and a human being, the raw passion and desires from the younger version of himself and Daechwita is from the newer mixtape which is more mature and reflective. The song “Shadow” from the BTS album Map of the Soul is also reflective and addresses the duality of the original hunger and desire for fame vs the mature reflection of fear associated with rising to such height that you worry you are going to fall…. So shadow and to an extent Daechwita is about realizing the shadows in ourselves and our past and wanting to focus on keeping feet on the ground.
I love that you see through his songs like that. Cause he really has the tendency to pour his heart and soul into the songs he makes whether it’s for BTS or his mixtape. His passion for music is so intense that he’s willing to release his music for free. Both his mixtapes as well as those of RM and J-Hope, were released on Soundcloud. The first mixtape Agust D from which this track was taken, shows all his angst and frustration from the past which was tepresented by the blonde king in Daechwita. His 2nd one, D-2, is more of a reflection on his present life and all tracks are so good.
Hi I love y'all reaction, but one thing I want to correct is that, it wasn't that Yoongi's family was poor, but that his parents didn't support him. So he basically had to hustle and make his own way for himself. All the other members at least had the blessing and maybe some financial support of their family to do music or get into the entertainment industry, but Yoongi didn't have that, so he had to find a way to make his own money in order to pay for school, make music and other expenses he needed. Yoongi who hurt his shoulder when he got hit by a car while making deliveries, didn't tell the company in fear of being let go. So he kept the accident to himself and suffered in silence all for the sake of doing what he loves, which is music. And when the company did finally find out about the accident it was already to late and the the injury to his shoulder became worse to the point that he could no longer break dance (yes Yoongi use to b-boy and was even good at it too), and when they found out why he was working the already struggling bighit not only paid for his tuition but also helped him with other living expenses as well. The only thing they were mad about was that Yoongi didn't tell them about his injury sooner and allowed himself to suffer for so long. Now if I got anything wrong or left something out, then some please correct me.
@@cg558 okay thank you for letting me know, and your right, all except Jin weren't well off either. Bts are great artist I like the solo music of each member because you can see their style, versatility, personality and artisty so when you see them as a group you can appreciate them even more you see what they bring to bts
Thank You for understanding AgustD. He is a The Best Rapper in my books as well. He is Lit. AgustD speaks through his music/lyrics. Suga a.ka. AgustD is a songwriter, rapper, record producer, and composer. He wrote about 120 of his songs. AgustD a.k.a is My top rappers. Love his voice, lyrics and his hard work. Suga is Lit. But I got respect and Love for RM and Jhope. They're Lit to! 💜💯
Agust D biggest inspiration when he started ( that you see in his first mixtape ) are Kanye west ( he produced all the beats of the first mixtape that's why he took so long with bts tight schedule ) ( also he wanted to be a performer after he saw Kanye west in a festival when he was in high school ); Eminem ( first album and first concert he attended with rapline before debut ) , epik high ( the song fly inspired and became friends with them and produced a song for them later ), lil Wayne ( he said in early interviews how he was his role model ) , also biggie , Nas , Tupac( the 90s hip hop beats ), later he got into Travis scoot , lil uzi , lil baby , post Malone, Dj musrtard tracks , etc. you see that influence after 2018 tracks and rap style. This is his influence in hip hop but also had influence of classical music ( when he was a kid ) , and R&B ( produced for R&B singer ), but also he doesn't care much anymore like he isn't an only hip hop fan like when he started , he doesn't care about music genres anymore and is open to any kind specially after 2018. You can see that by look at his playlist and the songs that he produced ( he tend to produce funky with rap songs for bts and other artists , with that guitar in the background and those trap beats and electric drums ), this guy also does music for fun so he has a lot of unreleased songs ( drafts ).
Suga is actually my bias. I love his style and the way he chooses to present himself and his music, but BTS rapline holds a special place for me. I think they are just top tier! I hoped you would do “So far away” (AgustD with Jin and Jungkook version) This song is a personal favorite of mine from him, but to fully appreciate it, it does require some analysis beyond color coded lyrics. Some of the best tools he uses are just lost in translation without footnotes. And I just love the message. Most of you seem to like RM and Suga, and that’s me too! I think RM is SO good lyrically, but Suga’s grit hits my soul in a painful but comforting way. That said…perhaps do “strange” from the D-2 album and “respect” from map of the soul 7.
Loved the breakdown 👌👌💜💜 Bfree was the rapper who compared him to Girls for wearing some make-up, Army gave him 94K disslikes and he got 6.5K likes on his song 🤪🤪🤣🤣 The power off the Army 💪💪💪 Min Yoongi his true persona Suga the Rapper off BTS Agust D the Savage one!!!! greetz from the netherlands 🇳🇱🇳🇱
Tiger is also a reference to SK , since that's their animal cuz they said the peninsula looks like a tiger, so that also represents Korean people like their resistance and power. So he referenced in daechwita too , ( he referenced his previous lines in a lot of songs including bts stuff ). He said he does it cuz when he does again he does with another POV like in another context in his life. Also u see bts- idol Mv the tiger references too ( since that video and music has a lot of Korean references too just like daewchita)
You should react to Agust D - The Last. The song touches sensitive topics like mental illnes and depression. It gives you the chance to learn about him and his past, his struggles. Highly recommend! Btw, love the way you all take turns to talk about songs you listen to and the way you pay attention to the lyrics. It's great to hear your thoughts and interpretations about the songs.
You guys are very thoughtful. I love the group discussion. I would love to have folks to chat about BTS content. I'm alone out here, because of the US stigma about a "boy band" New sub!!👍🏾👍🏾 💜💜
*RECOMMENDATIONS (FOR AGUST D SONGS): AGUST D BY AGUST D, SO FAR AWAY (FEAT SURAN), WHAT DO YOU THINK, THE LAST, , TONY MONTANA. For now this much his enough, btw don't forget he produces and writes everything himself. He also made the new samsung tune, he is a music prodigy*
Suga/Agust D is my bias wrecker as well and I can't wait for y'all to get to his songs the "First Love" and especially "The Last" those 2 songs hit hard lyrically. And I completely sympathize with him when it comes to mental heath issues. I also feel like he's my alter ego, or just my voice that I can't use lol. But thank you guys for this reaction. Can't wait to watch RM's "Joke", another absolute favorite of mine! 💜
I won't add much, since I know many ARMY have already corrected some of the timeline/facts for y'all. I appreciate watching your reaction, whether positive or negative because it's truth... not everybody is going to like the same thing you, or he, or she, likes. I had hoped you would have watched the MV's from his first mixtape in order, as Give It To Me is a continuation of the self titled Agust D MV. Hope you can get to that since it has impressive flow, and 'bars', and foremost beat. I would be curious to see if you can figure out whose sample he uses for it as well. Thanks guys, and gal.
In speaking in the vibe of Yoongi's duality of light and dark and, from what I'm hearing you guys like real and raw from him, I would highly recommend 치리사일사팔 (724148), The Last and Tony Montana from this album as well. I believe you guys would seriously enjoy those songs as well. In Yoongi's second album, I would recommend any (with the exception of Interlude: Set Me Free) for a good reaction and break down of serious lyrics because he does have deep meaningful songs for having full discussions over. The only song in that list that has an offical music video in that lineup that you haven't done is People though.
You need to look up sugas live where he answered that question about them wearing makeup 😂please just look it up!! It’s the greatest answer I’ve ever heard…..mic drop🔥
Nice reaction, as always. I really appreciate your honesty in not just how you feel about the songs you hear but also about how/why you relate to them and interpret them (or not, as the case may be). The only thing that was said that didn't strike "true" for me personally was that rap songs best convey feelings (basically that was what was said). I get the point and understand that it was put out there more that it was true for him, and I agree that the rap songs are terrific in that way, but honestly, there are SO many BTS songs that really dig into feelings and topics like mental health, depression, etc. Sorrowful, regretful, painful, angry, emotions don't have to be communicated by rap and/or aggressiveness - those emotions can also be beautifully conveyed through any type of music, really. Try listening to songs like The Truth Untold, House of Cards, Black Swan (which you already reacted to, but it was probably too early in your journey for you to have seriously delved into the meaning of the lyrics - the pain and fear of no longer being able to pursue their passion for music/dance), Blue & Grey, Stigma, Louder Than Bombs, Young Forever, and more. BTS can also have the most upbeat music and super serious, emotive lyrics to go with it. I think rap speaks to a lot of you best, but BTS the band (and not just the solo rappers) is known for all of their lyrics for a reason. Having said that, BTS made me a rap fan because I appreciate the wordplay, so I guess I'm just expanding upon the point made about rap lyrics and expression to say that it is ALL of BTS that touches one's soul through both music and lyrics. Also, SUGA's shoulder surgery was last November (2020, not 2019). Just a very small clarification.
Love the reaction brothers! You should react to: Baepsae BTS- lyrics Agust d- "Agust d" 'What do you think"- Agust d Outro tear- BTS rapline (and the live) Tony montana - Agust d, Jimin (live) Interlude:Shadow - SUGA Persona- RM Intro: boy meets evil - JHOPE Baseline- JHOPE danger- BTS All night - BTS, Juice wrld HANGSANG- Jhope, supreme boi My time - Jungkook BTS introduction, the 7 members Louder than bombs- BTS DDAENG- BTS rapline

This is the best analysis I've seen, thank y'all so much. I enjoyed your thoughts.
Thank you 🙏🏽
Thank You for understanding AgustD. 💜💯
appreciate y’all SO much! 👏
Pleaseee The Last with lyrics guyssssss(yall promised me hehe)! Before Nas listens to it via Spotify or something 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
LOVEEEED YOUR REACTIONS! Can't wait to see y'all react to Agust D "Shadow" MV cause every scene in it has its own meaning. 💜
Can't wait for yall to get into Shadow, Persona & Daydream. Also solos by the vocalist😊
Can't wait for you guys to listen to Interlude: Shadow.
Yes finally thank you♡
it will be fun to watch the August D Daechwita M/v making
He produced this song along with Pdogg. He is great producing all kind of songs.
Thanks for this reaction 😍😍😍 I’m sooo happy
💜💜💜💜
For future reference: the track "shadow is shorter in the mv than the actual released track on streaming platforms.
That said…perhaps do “strange” from the D-2 album and “respect” from map of the soul 7.
he's my bias!
Suga my fav 🥰💜😍🔥🤩
Loved the breakdown 👌👌💜💜
Bfree was the rapper who compared him to Girls for wearing some make-up, Army gave him 94K disslikes and he got 6.5K likes on his song 🤪🤪🤣🤣 The power off the Army 💪💪💪
Min Yoongi his true persona
Suga the Rapper off BTS
Agust D the Savage one!!!!
greetz from the netherlands 🇳🇱🇳🇱
thank you❤
Tiger is also a reference to SK , since that's their animal cuz they said the peninsula looks like a tiger, so that also represents Korean people like their resistance and power.
Outro Tear please 💕
You guys are very thoughtful. I love the group discussion. I would love to have folks to chat about BTS content. I'm alone out here, because of the US stigma about a "boy band" New sub!!👍🏾👍🏾 💜💜
When i can't wait for you guys to listen to The Last 🔥🔥🔥
SUGA had to endure & fight for his love of music..respect for this genius💜
*RECOMMENDATIONS (FOR AGUST D SONGS): AGUST D BY AGUST D, SO FAR AWAY (FEAT SURAN), WHAT DO YOU THINK, THE LAST, , TONY MONTANA. For now this much his enough, btw don't forget he produces and writes everything himself. He also made the new samsung tune, he is a music prodigy*
love when you guys reacted to BTS!!
Hope y’all react to So Far away! It’s one of my favorites! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Outro:tear, ddeang and all 4 cyphers next 😁
Agust D, The Last, Truly Gorgeous, You Will Like It 😍🔥
reaction agust D agust D M/V
Sugaaaaaa!!!!!
yall should react to augst d "augst d" with the subtitels on its bomb
My favorite his song is So far away ft Suran from his the first mixtape 2016
SUGA's beats are fire🔥
Always
And if y’all show then outro: tear, pleaaseeeeeee show them the live performance Bc it hits DIFFERENT
Loved this reaction. Please dig deeper into their background for more appreciation on their musicality and lyricism. Cyphers too please
The only song in that list that has an offical music video in that lineup that you haven't done is People though.
loved your reaction ... but quick question- were the cc's on when they were reacting to the song??
💜
👑💜👑💜👑
Agust D next 💜 💜 yoongi worldwide producer, hope you dig into his mixtape D2
Hope you guys do Louder than bombs lyric video, Dionysus live performance 2018, and rap line ddaeng
You need to look up sugas live where he answered that question about them wearing makeup 😂please just look it up!! It’s the greatest answer I’ve ever heard…..mic drop🔥
Nas you should read the lyrics TO D-2 the lyrics are so fire
