    They need to do one of these again on the Oscars! So many wonderful stars and so many of them are gone now. The loudest ovations were for Shirley Temple and Gregory Peck and rightly so! Two of my favorites, Claire Trevor and Teresa Wright - Wow! They don't make them like that anymore!

      @klausweasley 2 роки тому +8

      I agree. But unfortunately the Oscars (or at least the network) are more concerned about ratings and they equate ratings to shorter run-times and honoring superhero movies. A show which takes the time to honor Hollywood's Golden Age will not get them the TikTok crowd.

      @@NDMovieGuy I like a few of them very much, particularly Sam & Brendan. My favorite living actress is an Oscar winner. But a movie star does not necessarily an Oscar make. They can be "A-list" and not a movie star the caliber of Clark Gable, John Wayne, Shirley Temple etc. On this stage, for example, true movie giants are limited to Temple & Connery...to a lesser degree Peck and Heston.....Claire Trevor, Theresa Wright, Louise Renier. Leo comes off as the biggest on that list, but not the caliber of yesteryear, he's not a likable or relatable person.

    A canvas full of masterpieces! Even though a majority of these men and women in this gallery came from Hollywood's Golden Age of movies (and even before and after their work on television), they surely don't make actors like them anymore.

    0:34 and now Samuel L. Jackson could join the bunch whenever the segment is being held at future ceremonies. No more dropping the "S-bomb" as in his earlier loss to Martin Landau; now he already earned one without even competing, as did Jackie Chan and Angela Bassett.

    I still find it amusing that they gave Harold Russell a special Oscar because they wanted to give a war hero an award, and no one thought he would win in competition. And then he won!
