@Lathland - You should add two more factories to the top of the harvester. Have it release 2 block chunks of resource storage. 1 for each type. This will stop your Satellite from being full of empty storage. Maybe 2 harvesters per 2 blocks of storage?
Had an idea for auto-resource delivery. Main drone hides inside the resource dump (that place you unload your resources) and you're flying a drone. Main drone has the normal items, but on the top/back, there is a Factory that creates the resource stores/w thrusters, a altimeter to reach a height just above the resource dump, a Directional sensor to figure out the direction back to the main drone inside the resource dump, and two sensors that detects the main drone and will start a self-destruct timer (or downward thrusters), so when all the resources are done, and you get a clean slate.
Here’s an idea, make a craft with a ton of magnets at high power then in front of them a single piece of tnt so you respawn the tnt then repel them into the enemy
you need to make a satelite that transports recource to the nimbatus by leaving the core behind and then letting the satelite drop recource onto the core that is in the nimbatus harvester
Literally a delivery satalite! And it'd be a bit tricky, but I think you could set it up to deliver, drop and come back and then turn on a light all automatically.
Maybe having some storage on the harvester drone not connected to the factory will fix the bug. So the resources try to fill the connected storage, and overflow in to the factory storage.
Logic splitter - factory - super capacitor - large battery. Setup large battery to on empty send key, have decouple on factory be that key, and have key on factory for print and ready to print be the same. INFINITE POWER! Only byproduct is empty magazines of batteries.
a way to overcome that bug with the factory produced resource storage is to have them have their a battery and harvester also produced by a factory on the drone, I believe this is because the drones operate in layers, with each layer having its own independent storage, so putting the harvesting portion of the drone on a factory should resolve that issue for you from a humble follower of the Lathrixian nation
We have had so many of the same ideas, I was thinking of doing a drone that spawns cargo containers so it can keep harvesting, then transport them back later.
This is a really fun series to watch. I am planning on getting the game soon and LOVE watching your videos so I can learn what you learn and I can skip the time that would be needed to figure out how to play. Also, since you posted the first video with the factories, I had thought about using them to spawn resource barrels and use a magnet to carry full ones back to the drop off. Since you made the resource container an entity with thrusters, add the logic to make it ascend to the sat's altitude. Even better, how about a GPS system where you can automatically navigate the resource entity to the dropoff? Detach, it flies up to a middle altitude then around the planet, stops, and then down into the dropoff. Your sat can now focus exclusively on weapon delivery and for barrels you can put the magnet on the detachable resource section. I don't know if there are sensor options to detect the Nimbatus itself, but you should be able to hover a drone there that can be sensed.
Yeah. The core should be at the resource drop-off and the rest should be decoupled or factory-made. If I had the game and my PC works I would’ve tested it out.
Use cartridges for the resource, maybe put some thrusters on them so when you get attacked, they would launch to the satellite. Also, make slots on the satellite for the cartridges.

For the sake of my sanity and avoiding how annoying that would be to set up without them constantly getting into issues on different world sizes I think that's a current non-planned idea to implement haha!
the % works with the size of the planet, on some planets that means that 5% is almost NOTHING and they will crash into each other and on other larger planets the % is huge and if they had any interaction it would be more difficult, along with the nimbatus always going to be in the way and enemies perhaps chaining from the lower satellite to the higher ones once they are in range of attacking. It's possible and would work, but the annoyance level would be so high! :P
that seems painful you’d have to adjust it for each planet you go into I’d do something like that but I know nobody else would (if I could even build something like that)
You could try to make a rail gun (or orbital cannon) with magnets and TNT. Left and right some magnets that either attract or repel something. They would have to be set on a timer (or manually) so they switch between repel and attract as the TNT moves between them. I don't know if it's possible to make it automatic (if it is, it must be true hell and nerve wracking) but it would be so awesome! :D
You can exploit the factory storage bug. Somehow the game wants to fill storage on the drone with the main compartiment. So if you drop that in the collector beneath the Nimbatus wirh 1 collector for each resource, you can collect resources and sell them immediately
I just got the game, and I must say, its great. And I also feel obliged to say my third build is something that uses a TON of mouse guided rockets using tnt and without the ability to use tags it would be impossible to do. Tags are so much easier to use than keybindings for stuff like guided rockets... its awesome.
hey what if you took your exponential TNT with the factory blocks on factory blocks idea, but you replace the TNT with weapons that require no energy, for overwhelming firepower?

The drone wil not harvest because it sees the resource canisters as another vehicle. If you would make the resource harvester weapons attached to the resource canister you could harvest with it

I've mentioned it on Twitter a few times and in a few videos but sadly that's still easy to miss - Right now I'm on an extended break after years of playing the game I just have no motivation or enjoyment when playing the game which results in some really lower quality bits of footage, I'm not a very good actor haha! I will be returning to it almost certainly but no clear date in mind. The new update will of course help, with it's glorious new missiles and graphics! :)

What I'm trying to say is that you can just make a drone whit a Factory part that spawns another drone SIMILAR to the first one and have the print button on the same key witch means, you will get double the drones when you press the button... also you should make a motherdrone that has the brain and the duplicated can be destroyed whit a button!
What about instead of the other drone being a guard, it could be another gatherer but controllable. I think that makes sense.. You could just put that on your combat drone

You need the ability to turn mouse controls on the satellite off so it isn't moving around when handing resource over to it.

I feel like kenetic weapons are te way to go for the death beams. Also, a presision digging laser on the drone would not be amiss.
