Using Microsoft's version of SQL!! THANK YOU!! In Healthcare Finance, that is all that I see and everyone on UA-cam seems to teach MySQL or something else. I know they are basically the same. But.... when you are first starting, it is nice to have something familiar.
For anyone going through the projects, to import the data you can right click the database > Tasks > Import Data... it seems to automatically run the 32 bit version of the wizard if you're struggling to find the file
For the second project, he seems to find a workaround to import the data. I was able to still use this method to import the data easily. I haven't worked it through but if the issue is that SSMS doesnt detect your excel version, all I did was install the 32 bit of Microsoft Access 2010 Runtime. I'm using some 2021 Excel version but that got me around that part. Then instead of "initial server" or whatever it says for your destination, just pick the Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server. It's a more updated version of what he picks in the dropdown.

Hey guys, so this video will be my first taste of anything relative to a data analytics class, after doing my own career research. I’m bout to turn 22 this week. I had dropped out of college 3 months in for a stupid reason; someone else’s “advice”. I guess I was the stupid one really. For not knowing what I wanted…. And what I want, truly, is to be an analyst. LOL. So now I can be the one to give advice and do it better than was done to me. I hope you guys know what you want… so you don’t lose any of our “free but priceless” time. Anyway, let the learning begin!!!
I must really thank Mr Alex on behalf of all others here. This bootcamp came in just at a very crucial time. I know like many others who might have been doing self paced learning sifting through many materials gies with a lot of grit and determination. With this fine package, it makes the journey all the more easier. Once qm done on the learning ill be sharing working on some very crucial portfolios i have already earmarked for myself as crucial data analysis projects. Hope to share with you soon. Thanks
I just want to thank Alex and Freecodecamp for providing this content. I'm a mental health case manager working on my MSW, while seeking to transition into data analytics to integrate domain knowledge from the mental health field. I'm self-teaching myself, so by the time I graduate in August, I can be prepared to make the transition. This bootcamp enables me to streamline my learning, which is beneficial as school/work gets busy. It's particularly helpful for anyone trying to build a habit, as you have one video to focus on breaking any possible resistance. I believe this is key especially when learning something new.
for those confused on the links not showing for where to download these videos as mashed up together so for link you have to go on his page and click the relevant video and then click the link from that video. You are welcome
This channel is something I can never put into words. They deserve more subscribes. What an amazing groups of people these people are. God bless each one of these people for providing a free educational content so we all can succeed. ❤❤
*Solution "SQL section" Importing .CSV file into SSMS data type varchar -> int/Numeric. data type varchar to int or float: After selecting Data source: "Flat File Source " select Advanced option. There you will see columns data type. Select column and change DataType to numeric [DT_NUMERIC]. You have to do this manually. If you don't change data type then SQL server will import .csv file columns as string value. It will create problems when doing arithmetic operation in SQL Query.
17:08 - "And there you go. It's as easy as that." I love how getting started on these is always the hardest part for beginners and people act like getting the software up and running is so easy.
hi I will be starting this course from today and will complete it by 24th of oct , I will be commenting on my progress regularly, I hope this helps me land a job :-)
Another issue: when importing excel file if you do not see the option "SQL Server Native Client 11.0" I am on 2022 version where he is on 2019 I believe. The SQL Server Native Client (often abbreviated SNAC) has been removed from SQL Server 2022 (16.x) and SQL Server Management Studio 19 (SSMS). The SQL Server Native Client (SQLNCLI or SQLNCLI11) and the legacy Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server (SQLOLEDB) are not recommended for new application development. Switch to the new Microsoft OLE DB Driver (MSOLEDBSQL) for SQL Server or the latest Microsoft ODBC Driver for SQL Server going forward. Basically just choose: "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server" instead UPDATE: this one didnt work either for me, I ended up choosing Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server"

Thank you for the Great Content Alex. I am having a great time learning but the hardest thing i have encountered so far is trying to load the covid tables to the new database. I have tried EVERYTHING to load the data but nothing works. I keep getting this error "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 provider is not registered on the local machine.". I have installed and re -installed but it still doesn't work. So i decided to just keep learn by watching you working on the dataset.
this is interesting. I'm in my early 50s and have been working in this 'space' for 20+ years. At this point, I guess I'm an advanced sql person, have done a decent amount of dynamic sql and made many functions for helping to parse/reformat strings. Our shop does extensive data cleaning in a good text editor, and sometimes within sql server itself. I was an expert with crystal reports, but we don't use it very much. Everyone should of course be comfy getting data (be it a text file, excel, etc) getting it loaded into sql server, and fully manipulating it in different ways. Interestingly, we do our work in a cloud but we don't use Azure b/c it does not have a 'model' database. For our shop, it is crucial to have a 'model' database where we can put new functions, stored procs, etc. So we are using a very new version of non-Azure sql server...It seems like other shops would have run into this type of scenario, no?
What a nice surprise. So glad there is a smth like this kind of boot camp for free. To all aspiring data analysts/bi devs - there is no sense to pay for any resources at beginning, do not get catch for dreams sellers, data vizzards or other data selfsuperhero

Hey Everyone, when Alyx opened the SQL SSMS software he said now we just need to connect to a server and for that he mentioned to download a server exe. But how to connect it. It didn't work like in the video.
I did his bootcamp and can absolutely vouch for the quality of material. The Tableau part, specifically, is one of the very best on UA-cam. If youre planning your portfolio in Data analytics, start exactly here! All the best 🌟

i'm really struggling with the data import part. I hve SSMS 19.3 and SQL server 2022 installed, and its just failing. even tried SQL v2019 still no luck. anyone who can assist on whcih versions does the import work on? also, installing SSIS did not help.
Yeah It was resolved. I Uninstalled everything that's is MMIS and SQl server, then installed it again. I'm not sure if that is what fixed the issue or maybe it's because my internet signal was weak prior to that.
actually it's very simple to import excel data to SSMS, if you have text/csv just choose the import flat data. But if you only have the xlsx then you need to download additional file that provided by microsoft
I really like Alex and especially the data builder he made. But my question is about the Covid portfolio. I tried to make it in December, but I got so many errors that was impossible to complete, and reading the comments many other people had the same problem. Looks like things get updated, and therefore it is not working like the way when the video was made (2020). Would it be possible an update?
Apparently i also got some errors in the start and found out that most of the columns have been converted into navvarchar and are unable to support the aggr functions and i was unable to compare them in where clauses you can just typecast them into int or float which solved many issues for me in that but some still persist. Hope this helps
Hi @@kumargaurav5423 I have the same issues and idk why there's a lot of missing data in my query, it just print a lot of NULL values no matter if I already changed the column types. My queries results do not match the video and it's very frustrating, any help?? Thanks.
Alex, I appreciate the effort you've put into this bootcamp, but I want to share some advice with fellow participants. If you're serious about mastering Power BI, it's important to consider alternative learning paths. Courses on platforms like Udemy or joining paid online/offline programs can provide a more comprehensive understanding of Power BI, tailored to individual learning needs.
You don't know how to teach, you don't explain well, you made me waste my time only because it is for free. You skip a lot of steps, you don't explain what is int or what is var, you don't explain anything at all. You didn't even explain how to install Express. Do not follow this course if you are a complete beginner.

My last video before bed.
You won't be sleeping i guess
It’s gonna take a while mate
You will sleep in tomorrow night😂
😁nice
You goono sleep day after tomorrow.... 😂
Thanks
I'm starting this course as 16 year old High-School Student..
My Progress :

Thanks
This is greatt!! Can't wait for a data science bootcamp😭💫🔥
You are an incredible teacher, Alex. Huuuuge thanks!
Great to see you here. Thank so much for your valuable contribution.
Well done bro thanks from you dear Alex my search for become a data analyst is finished here❤❤
WOW Great way to jump start new skills for 2024 ... Thank you so much . I will work on this every day until I Got it all down .

*Solution "SQL section"
Importing .CSV file into SSMS data type varchar -> int/Numeric.
data type varchar to int or float:
After selecting Data source: "Flat File Source " select Advanced option. There you will see columns data type. Select column and change DataType to numeric [DT_NUMERIC]. You have to do this manually. If you don't change data type then SQL server will import .csv file columns as string value. It will create problems when doing arithmetic operation in SQL Query.
Hi thank you so much. now i have "Divide by zero error encountered" error since it has changed all nulls to 0
@@NotaPro-vg6wr
Try NULLIF(column_name, 0).
Ex: total_deaths/NULLIF(total_cases, 0)

We need a Data Engineering Course!
17:08 - "And there you go. It's as easy as that." I love how getting started on these is always the hardest part for beginners and people act like getting the software up and running is so easy.
“cannot connect to server.” oh boy
This is amazing and really helpful. With this Bootcamp am super-packed for my journey into Data Analytics. Thank you so much, Alex the Analyst.
Finally finished this tutorial I hope very soon get a job 😊😊
how is it going now? was this tutorial helpful for you in your data analytics journey?

The only comment section that I would love to part of, thank you, Alex, for making this course available to everyone!
Feels so right to see you two making a collab on this topic. Congrats to both!
This is the path I was looking for. Thank you freecodecamp👍

Another issue: when importing excel file if you do not see the option "SQL Server Native Client 11.0"
I am on 2022 version where he is on 2019 I believe.
Basically just choose: "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server" instead
UPDATE: this one didnt work either for me, I ended up choosing Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server"
thank you ' how can i run OLE driver on y machine, i couldnt find exe file for running server
7 DAY CHALLENGE: I already know about Python programing

I am going to complete it in 5 days 🤞
hahahaaahahaahahahh
My first video of the morning. You changed our lives, thank you!
I have the same struggle
What worked for me was installing the Developer version instead of Express version of the SSMS
This is really amazing complete tutorial for a Data Analysis
More than 19 hours, holy moly 😮
Without having watched it (just yet I hope), I bow my monkey head before you 🐒🙇♂👍
@AlexTheAnalyst Thanks for the course and providing so much content for free.
Jan 2024 Completed Excel ✅️
this is interesting.
Pray that i will consistently finish this atleast😭😭😭
Have you completed it
@shlok1108 my question too

"02:16:57 Data Analyst Portfolio Project | SQL Data Exploration"
Importing Covid data CSV file to SSMS:
Select DB in SSMS(Ex: PortfolioProject) > Tasks > Import Data... > Next > Data source: Flat File Source > File name: (Browse the .CSV file (make sure the file is in CSV format or change it to .CSV format)) > Next > Next> Destination: Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server > Properties > 1. Enter the server name manually 2. log on to the server: Windows Authentication 3. Select the database: PortfolioProject > TestConnection > OK >Next > Next > Next> Finish > Close.
this is so awesome as soon i started teaching my self about data analytics week ago freecodecamp posts 19 hours course now i have to forget other platforms
Hey Everyone, when Alyx opened the SQL SSMS software he said now we just need to connect to a server and for that he mentioned to download a server exe. But how to connect it. It didn't work like in the video.
@kushalsangwan have you been able to figure it out?
Absolutely amazing.
I did his bootcamp and can absolutely vouch for the quality of material. The Tableau part, specifically, is one of the very best on UA-cam.
If youre planning your portfolio in Data analytics, start exactly here! All the best 🌟
Anyone landed a job after this course? If yes, what position did you get?

i'm really struggling with the data import part. I hve SSMS 19.3 and SQL server 2022 installed, and its just failing. even tried SQL v2019 still no luck. anyone who can assist on whcih versions does the import work on? also, installing SSIS did not help.
hey, were you able to resolve the issue? if so, how?
Thanks.
AM LITERALLY STARTING A JOB TOMORROW FOR THIS! omg am watching the next 20 hours

Alex, You are a very good teacher!! You just make it look easy..Thanks!..from a upcoming analyst!!
Listened to the first 15 mins and didn't mention anything about learning stats .. hmmm 🤔
Woah.!!! Finally the MOST awaited video on FCC. This Alex is a next level DA.
good lecture. please can one get a certicate
Take a Bow Sir, Kudos from INDIA
Alex this is extremely helpful! Many thanks for your hard work :)
Staring this course rn from scratch
ill keep updating to you guys
