I miss base original Overwatch when Jeff Kaplan was still game director of Overwatch. Overwatch 2 is dead to me with Aaron Keller as game director because I'm sure everyone game him chance even me, but the PVE is cancel. I'm done with anything to do with Activision Blizzard. Aaron Keller failed the Overwatch community which something Jeff Kaplan wouldn't let happen if he was still there. Good bye Overwatch.

I won’t even lie. My friend and I played this game when the beta came out. Way back in 2015. Over time our friend group expanded and we’d play up until 2 in the morning. We’d do our drinking games too like take a shot if you died from a headshot. Now, a lot of the people I played with don’t get on. And me and my friend are back to square 1. Except we can only play like 2-3 games before we switch to a different game. For die hard fans of the game it is really disappointing and it’s been this way for 4 years now. Blizzard saying they’ll do something then not even going through with it. My friends and I even played through the drought but now I’m just over it. Lately my friend and I have been playing Battlefront 2 and other older games that are at least a little bit more tolerable than overwatch.
I'm so sorry, but it was obvious from the start, when OverWatch competitive mode has become utopian lie, then people, who saw this happening opened their eyes and quit. You can't sustain the game with just lootboxes. MTX are paying for themselves big time. Wow has shown us that. What a time to live - from StarCraft, Diablo and Warcraft sensations all the way down to fan abuse and blatant lies.
@@eugenijusdolgovas9278 I agree. As soon as we got left with that drought in 2019 or actually when brig was released the content was just to slow and with overwatch 2 I don’t think overwatch will ever be big as it once was

I'm wondering if it's impossible to play the old version? There has to be an old, unopened disc that never got updated, modders could maybe set up servers again?
That music ... Overwatch 1 had SOUL man. I got into shooters because of Halo 2, and honestly I feel like in another 20 ish years Overwatch will give the same sense of nostalgia. I stopped playing soon after the OW2 release, but considered coming back for the PvE. Now there's no reason. It's better left as a memory.

As a TF2 and Paladins player who OW players made fun of for playing "a poor man's versions of OW", I'm enjoying all of this and will still enjoy it for days to come.
@@BudderPigGaming heres the real man: team fortress is in no better state than team fortress right now. I loved tf2, I did. I played it for about 7 years across 6k hours. But the game development wise is dead, and valve has gone on record saying they would never outright say a game is dead, just because it would risk killing a source of revenue/ if they would want to retouch it. Let's be honest team fortress is on life support, only adding the occasional map and cosmetic to pay for every few months. Thats it. And because people love the IP enough they eat it up still, that's not the team fortress I remember. It's sad but the only thing keeping tf2 up is it's fanatic fanbase, new players can't even use text chat and are plagued with bots. It's just a mess really.
i can clearly see why jeff left its a shame really he was such a cool and chill person like heck he did those live streams where he just sat there staring at the camera not saying anything and just drinking and eating cookies... i hope jeff and the old OW teams somehow buy the IP from blizzard so they can continue the series

True, in a few of my videos there's a guy named Folk, I met him at 2am during an overwatch game. We kept getting in the same matches and eventually became truly best friends. My life would not be same without him. So saying goodbye to this really means alot. I'm happy it all had a chance to happen :D
I’m more of a TF2 player, however I’ve watched videos on how fun Overwatch was and it’s truly heartbreaking that a great game was ruined by corporate greed. Farewell Overwatch, in the words of Rick May “That was one hell of a campaign son…”
Playing this game from just a lonely high-school kid to a young adult has been a trip. Somewhat similar to Halo. I loved it all when I was younger and now seeing this bleak reality has made me feel just as alone when I first picked it up. I'll miss this game dearly and it may be my inner optimism, but I want them to fix it to what we were promised. It may never happen. If that's the case, I appreciate you for the time you made this. Farewell OW. I'll remember you as you were, not what you are.
Goodbye. To the characters that we got attached to for 7 years. The characters that deserved better. The community that deserved better. The passionate developers that deserved better.
I’m a GM/T500 player too. First time I hit GM was at the start of goats/ end of OG dive. Season 6 & 7 onwards, the rank was what kept me playing. I felt good and accomplished at the game. Tried the path to pro and everything. The game was amazing. I bought the game because of the story. Ironic enough, the lack of story via PvE isn’t going to push me away. My friends still play the game, and other than my purchase of OW1, I’ve never given Blizzard money. I was there during the first and last day of OW1. Unless all my friends leave the game, and/or the game gets endless hoarders of cheaters (like tf2 casual servers), I’ll keep playing. Idk if you’re east or west coast, but we most certainly gotten lobbies with each other. I wish you the best man. Sorry the magic of OW died
Yeah, I'm surprised anyone could do worse than 343 with halo, but at least they're still trying to this day and are listening to the fans to change things. This is the new rock bottom
I’m glad I kept so many screenshots and videos of my time in Overwatch. I used to think that it was stupid, a compulsion I needed to control, because you could always jump in and experience the fun again. And while part of that is true, I’m glad I kept the memories.
Thank you jeff for bringing us a good game I know you couldn't stop the fallout from the idiots upstairs sitting in their office chairs and I understand why you left
I used to play overwatch when I was younger, both it and Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare were the games that introduced me to one of my favourite game genres. Although I stopped playing Overwatch once I got ahold of my preferred game, TF2, it still makes me a little sad to see a game that I spent so long on fade away like this. All those cosmetics I saved my credits for and waited for their events to get, all those nights completing Retribution on Legendary difficulty, that time I spent perfecting my support-oriented play style, all gone now.
Ps2/xbox up to ps3/xbox 360 was the golden era of gaming and im glad i got to be apart of that, i dont even play overwatch, but none the less its just another flopped game in an ocean of other flopped games
DW, after all this Drama when the Cinematic releases these people will come back to the game. If you really meant to quit, no amount of epic cinematics should make you come back. Make them pay for what they've done. They deserve to go downhill from here on out.
This video gave me chills and nostalgia. As I get older and game less, this video made me realize I spent the last of my prime gaming life on something that has become a shell of itself. All I have left of that time is memories with good friends and sadness that Battleborn died for this 😂💔
I’m right there with you on your mindset on this game. I wasn’t just a T500 player, I was a T100 player (granted, on Xbox) and I feel the exact same feeling of betrayal that you feel.
Always felt it in my bones that something wasn't right with the announcement of OW2... A final toast to the great game that we lost and let us keep it in our memory instead of the pile of rubble that is it's "successor"
I forgot how hype the OW1 intro was. Sure, most players skipped it 99% of the time, but when you really wanted or needed it, it was there to bring you back from whatever mood you were in and get ready to play a game. An actual game, not a game slapped on to make a shop mean anything
2:40 YOU FORGOT ABOUT WEAPON CHARMS!! The bane of my existence in fps games. Never good, never look cool, and they’re only there for companies to advertise “hundreds of different cosmetic items” I haven’t actually noticed the charms in game once.
dont forget that we also lost the off-tank role also, they knew before releasin ow2 that the pve they promised wasnt possible and had most the team on the live service already, thats why the roadmap sucks, because behind the scenes nothing changed
The higher ups never intended to let PvE happen, their whole goal was to monetize and increase profitability of the game, it was never about benefiting the players or the vision of any developers on the teams that worked on it.
I always loved playing overwatch, ever since *season 1!* but today was the only day ever that I looked at overwatch and thought "I'll probably never play this again, at least not for a long time" it was then that I realized I had finally lost hope for one of my favorite games since I was 12
I remember the first time i installed the game, and eagerly sat in front of my Tv waiting for it to finish, seeing that intro animation and being in awe, playing until 5am grinding to get better. The game we have now is a far cry from the dreams and hopes every player had when they watched all those animations, and all those tutorials. It breaks my heart to see such a once loved game spiral into such a sorry state.
The moment I saw Overwatch 2 trailer I knew all this gonna happen.. and it did happen because it's so obvious, especially after Jeff left the Overwatch team.
This video really made me look back on the old good days, the days where overwatch felt like more than just a game, it felt like Blizzard actually loved working on this game, and oh boy did young me loved it more than they did, and now they just see it as a money maker and nothing more, this game was at some point my whole life, they took so much not only for me, but all of us... I think it is about time I.....maybe should stop playing that game.
I remember started to play this game in early 2017, I met good friends there, I loved the archive events (especially the Retribution one, that one was amazing). I waited for Overwatch 2 instead of buying it early because after all the scandals I was skeptical. I endured the state of Overwatch 2 without even buying the Battle Pass because all I wanted was to play PvE. After that news, I unistalled the game. I'm done, I no longer have faith for that game.
10 months into Overwatch 2, I’m still playing it. Watching this video lit a fire in me that I didn’t really feel when they announced PVE’s cancelling. We were f***ing robbed.
I'm not completely quitting Overwatch, but I'm not going to play it nearly as much as I used to. PvE being (mostly) cancelled is just too disappointing of a decision.
Guys, why dont we just go back to the first overwatch and forget his terrific sibling existence ? The original overwatch already been buried by Blizzard , the only hope left for it is us. I never played it but i watched my cousin do for hours and hours, and i watched the characters background animation and fanarts, i love this community , i dont want it to die , dont give up guys, please.
Make sure everybody you know sees this. This message deserves to seen, heard, and shared by lil' guy players/lore readers, big guy streamers, and Blizzard sharholders.
In the beginning trailer hited hard but outro... I dropped tear for real. It feels like part of my life has been ripped out of me. I'm glad I at least had opportunity to play Overwatch before it's death
overwatch was my fav game ive had my best times playing and watching videos on this game and it saddens me that this game has gone into the dumps all of the good times are basically over
I have never played ow in my life, nor cared about blizzard, untill the ow2 beta when I started to play ow1. I fell in love with the game, played daily for hours and hours, watched videos when I wasn't playing, then they took it away... my new found favourite game was absolutelly shattered few months later.
I miss the early days. When there was so much hype for characters and lore. We couldn't get enough. Even the sombra arg fiasco was fun. Even got content teasing the community on the "skycode". There was so much they did right, and it should have become a long standing legacy. Overwatch was a rare thing that worked really well problems and all. For them to carelessly throw that away for a cheap buck is beyond insulting. They have done a massive disservice to the massive community overwatch has worked so hard to build up. Its time to say goodbye to another lived one. Remember all the great memories and years of fun and frustration. You will be missed overwatch
Jeff Kaplan, while being one of the most infamous developers in the industry, was one of the most innovative and interesting people I have ever had the pleasure of seeing live at BlizzCon 2019. This era of Overwatch is The Dark Times, the era of The Tyrannical Empire known as Activision Blizzard. This is not Kaplan's child anymore. This is Keller's machine, pumping more and more shit each and every second of each and every day. Once we had everything, now we have nothing. Promises like these, promises like the ones Activision Blizzard made show me that the company is not worth investing into, and prove to me that the game is something to be dispised of. The High Era of Kaplan's reign has ended. The Imperial Reign of Keller and Activision Blizzard has just begun.
I played this game from Ana to Ashe and then dropped it for good. I loved the world and characters, the meta made me leave, but the company kept me away forever. Even when my friends were getting back into it, I couldn’t. This game gave me so many memories but it’s not worth it.
100 hours on hanzo since 2017, its not easy to let go of this game since there are many heros that are very unique, but its about time to move on to games from people who actually invest time into developing their game
What comes in mind - is Battleborn, which was destroyed by Overwatch right after coming out. It was great, but overwatch was hyped and battleborn just vanished. Ive played both, loved both. Now Batlleborn is gone and Overwatch...i dont know what's worse, to be gone, or to be Overwatch 2.
Dude great video this is an absolutely perfect summary of the disappointment I’ve been feeling for overwatch 2 and ESPECIALLY after the news that dropped!
OW was a decent chunk of my content and I can definitely feel the pain on this. Greed did this but know that the OW family is forever. We got to experience one of the best games of all time in this genre and they can never take that away from us.
Only a matter of time a company makes a hero shooter so good it kills overwatch Hopefully when that happens the next company doesn't make the same mistakes
I have watched so many content creators from Overwatch and I feel for every single one whether they’re still here or not. Flats, Freedo, Seagull, and Samito of course, but many others. Emongg, KarQ, Super, Dafran, Jay3, Fareeha, Master Ian Gamer, BTC, BroYouWack, Jayne, TheRealKenzo, Firzyhere, Harbleu, Yeatle, Eskay, Redshell, Frogger, ML7, Jayne, XQC, Star2D2. Even some OWL players like Striker, Pine, Wanted, Jjonak, Moth, Saelyeolbe, and many others that made a name for themselves there. Most of all, I want to personally recognize SaltyPhish, who posted a video called “The Floor is Lava” which was my first exposure to Overwatch ever. Period. I didn’t even know what the game was until I watched him. I’m sure everybody has their own personal story like this and every single creator I mentioned and tons more have contributed to the love and care this community has. Wherever gaming takes us next, I’ll never forget the people that made this game as special as it was until now.
I never played OW 1 becouse i couldn't afford an xbox one untill 2 years ago, and didn't brought myself to play OW until 2 came out and fell in love with it... so i don't know how to feel about this
It's OK to form your own opinion on this. All the youtubers are going doomer central and saying that the game is guaranteed to be dead because that's what gets them the views. If you enjoy the PvP multiplayer gameplay of OW2 then I hope you can keep enjoying it despite these doomer takes. The game could die in the near future for all I know. But until then I'm going to keep playing and having fun as long as there's enough players to fill up even a single lobby.
This is very heartfelt and an amazing video overall. I hope to someday build a gaming company based off of players, and supporting people around the world by building schools, churches, etc. Why do I though? Because these greedy companies work for themselves and their own benefit. Microsoft, Blizzard/ Activision, Epic Games, Sony, and other companies all have the money to make a difference in the world but chose to keep it for themselves. Disgusting. Outrageous. Thank you for sharing your feelings you should be so much bigger of a content creator, your video was amazing.
My only regret is that I didn't get into this game earlier. The short time I played this game was a good time, but it's time to say goodbye. They had a chance to do something great. They not only failed, but somehow made it so a large portion of their playerbase is just leaving. Great job, Blizzard.
They did Reforged _Twice_ now. Killing a classic game with a fanbase to it, for garbage so they can charge more, while lying about it. Why people think that is Blizzard and not Activision with a stolen nametag is beyond me.
I really feel like they stopped working on the PvE because it was a lot of work and they saw they could nake tons of money just by simply making skins. So many people bought that kiriko witch bundle and i think it was like 30 dollars lmao. I was hoping players wouldn't buy into all the micro transactions but they really did and I think Blizzard just knows they don't have to work that hard to make money off of OW2 players. I'm still trying to stay free to play ever since OW2 came out and I even saved enough gold coins to get the mythic mercy skin whenever it comes out so I'm scared to ever use them on anything and would rather keep them for limited time skins like mythics because they take FOREVER to earn.
Man seeing that last clip of og overwatch reminded me of watching the mei cinematic while having some nice ramen with a friend. All my friends slowly quit overwatch. Some came back when ow2 released so we played together. Then everyone abandoned it now. I'll miss 2016-2018 overwatch for a long time.
Honestly, the only reason I wanted to get Overwatch 2 was the story mode. They have such a great story from the shorts, comics, etc., and them not including it in the first game is the reason I didn't end up buying it. Here's how I would do it; create two story modes, an heroic one, where you unlock good guys/mercs, and a villain one where you unlock bad guys/mercs. You play through different stories starting out as either Winston or Doomfist, and recruit warriors for your side... This would be one of three ways to unlock them, the other two would be consistently PVP, earning a new character every week that you've played for something like an hour a day, or buying the, either from a store or loot boxes. The story mode would be the way I'd play because I love a good story.
3:09 I've been playing Halo since 2011 and watching it decay over the last decade, being promised again and again that things will get better, but those promises are never delivered; I know the pain you are all going through.
Figured I should breakdown why OW2 is bad:

As soon as we got left with that drought in 2019 or actually when brig was released the content was just to slow and with overwatch 2 I don’t think overwatch will ever be big as it once was
Me and my first boyfriend played overwatch every night we could together, he passed away in 2016 and never got to see the peak of overwatch imo. Watching the game die like this feels like im saying good bye to him again
I..m sorry for your lost
Never thought reading this tragic story :(
I'm wondering if it's impossible to play the old version? There has to be an old, unopened disc that never got updated, modders could maybe set up servers again?
@@footloosegenius2242 nah, it's basically impossible
That music ... Overwatch 1 had SOUL man. I got into shooters because of Halo 2, and honestly I feel like in another 20 ish years Overwatch will give the same sense of nostalgia. I stopped playing soon after the OW2 release, but considered coming back for the PvE. Now there's no reason. It's better left as a memory.
as a tf2 player and a overwatch player your not alone being screwed by a company i may not be as big into overwatch but it hurts having somthing you loved shit on and i hope it gets better for you guys
Ha tf2 did outlived ow2 let's goooo🎉😂🎉
As a TF2 and Paladins player who OW players made fun of for playing "a poor man's versions of OW", I'm enjoying all of this and will still enjoy it for days to come.
@@OhSo_Bear i enjoy it but also feels bad man
are you referring to the "summer update" 😭
Ending on that original intro... Damn. Sad to see what we lost.
i can clearly see why jeff left its a shame really he was such a cool and chill person like heck he did those live streams where he just sat there staring at the camera not saying anything and just drinking and eating cookies... i hope jeff and the old OW teams somehow buy the IP from blizzard so they can continue the series
don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened
But did it really happen?
I left the month it came out, what has happened to it
@@mquezda6256 cash grab, unbalanced match making, pve cancelled
I was 8 when I first played this game and… I can say the only thing that happened is seing my child company slowly destroying every games that maded the thing I call a life blizzard destroyed everything fuck them now I turn to indie companies and hope they will recreate the game industry like they did before
True, in a few of my videos there's a guy named Folk, I met him at 2am during an overwatch game.
The first game not only had a better system, the first game at least had good progression
It’s really depressing what happened to this game…
Lmfao stay sad and coping you twat
Yeah, I'm surprised anyone could do worse than 343 with halo, but at least they're still trying to this day and are listening to the fans to change things. This is the new rock bottom
Truly, just when I thought I couldn't be more depressed 😂
Ow1 was a special time. ❤
I miss it 😭
I’m glad I kept so many screenshots and videos of my time in Overwatch.
TF2 has now outlived Overwatch twice.
Rest in Peace to the only shooter i have ever played and liked in my life.
"I say this as halo fan" Man that line hurts so much more
may overwatch rest in peace (2016-2022). thank you for everything, you'll be missed by everyone
Ps2/xbox up to ps3/xbox 360 was the golden era of gaming and im glad i got to be apart of that, i dont even play overwatch, but none the less its just another flopped game in an ocean of other flopped games
"The world could always use more heroes." - Tracer
Smh 😔
Overwatch 2 is a constant promise that will never come.
All I have left of that time is memories with good friends and sadness that Battleborn died for this 😂💔
I still have my physical copy of Battleborn.. 😅
RIP Overwatch
2016 - 2023
You could've been a true legend, if only you weren't owned by greedy idiots.
Never good, never look cool, and they’re only there for companies to advertise “hundreds of different cosmetic items” I haven’t actually noticed the charms in game once.
dont forget that we also lost the off-tank role
also, they knew before releasin ow2 that the pve they promised wasnt possible and had most the team on the live service already, thats why the roadmap sucks, because behind the scenes nothing changed
The higher ups never intended to let PvE happen, their whole goal was to monetize and increase profitability of the game, it was never about benefiting the players or the vision of any developers on the teams that worked on it.
I have so many fond memories of og overwatch in 2016 and 17. My friends and I used to stream for hours just becuase it used to actually be fun.
(Breaks into a Kazotsky Kick and laugh taunts)
The moment I saw Overwatch 2 trailer I knew all this gonna happen.. and it did happen because it's so obvious, especially after Jeff left the Overwatch team.
Goodbye overwatch... You never gave me what I was waiting for
Well, at least they changed McCrees name. Can you imagine what the game would be if they didn't?
Why did they change his name?
@@jakewulgar because his namesake is a pedophile.
Same back when games where made with passion and gaming wasnt horrible.
I wasn't the best Reinhart player but I love this game for the last 5 years I played
I don’t even play overwatch (I just really hate pvp games tbh) but my heart goes out to people that feel like they got betrayed.
A true giga chad
10 months into Overwatch 2, I’m still playing it. Watching this video lit a fire in me that I didn’t really feel when they announced PVE’s cancelling. We were f***ing robbed.
Wow didn’t think I would miss seeing this clip at the beginning of every bootup
I'm not completely quitting Overwatch, but I'm not going to play it nearly as much as I used to. PvE being (mostly) cancelled is just too disappointing of a decision.
Damn man, the old overwatch intro hits different now
Guys, why dont we just go back to the first overwatch and forget his terrific sibling existence ? The original overwatch already been buried by Blizzard , the only hope left for it is us.
I never played it but i watched my cousin do for hours and hours, and i watched the characters background animation and fanarts, i love this community , i dont want it to die , dont give up guys, please.
TF2 will outlive any overwatch
Make sure everybody you know sees this. This message deserves to seen, heard, and shared by lil' guy players/lore readers, big guy streamers, and Blizzard sharholders.
In the beginning trailer hited hard but outro... I dropped tear for real. It feels like part of my life has been ripped out of me. I'm glad I at least had opportunity to play Overwatch before it's death
overwatch was my fav game ive had my best times playing and watching videos on this game and it saddens me that this game has gone into the dumps all of the good times are basically over
Not Blizzard. It's an absolute Bobby Kottiks move here.. Letting themself buy from this greedy bastards was Blizzards end.......
I have never played ow in my life, nor cared about blizzard, untill the ow2 beta when I started to play ow1. I fell in love with the game, played daily for hours and hours, watched videos when I wasn't playing, then they took it away... my new found favourite game was absolutelly shattered few months later.
This hurts i love the world of ow and its character and it feels like the game i loved was shot in the head and left to suffer while it dies
That’s what happens to all good things under Capitalism. This will continue until everything is Warcraft III Reforged.
Thanks man! Thanks for expressing how so well how we all feel!
Even tho i never really played overwacht i still fell in love with it's world and now even that's gone.
We should have known something was up when they took away the amazing intro and just gave us a generic press start screen.
I remember this when I first played the beta...Good times...
Dude great video this is an absolutely perfect summary of the disappointment I’ve been feeling for overwatch 2 and ESPECIALLY after the news that dropped!
Blizzard is dead, bud. Activision is driving this bus now and there aint no toilet stops on this ride.
The piano cover made me tear up thanks.
actually, i cried out loud at the end, forget what i said above.
Overwatch 2 was a excuse to remodel the monetization
Don'yt worry there's always Team Fortress 2. We'll always have that ;)
My only regret is that I didn't get into this game earlier.
@@Sorain1 I agree but i dont think there are many people will understand this
Because they will say its Blizzard IP
EPIC intro that you nailed above all of these other videos on this topic
I am done with this game, I cant believe I came back to it and thought I could have fun again with it
Like mercy said "Overwatch was shut down for a reason. Maybe it’s best it stay that way". I could not agree more...
I love how Winston's speech fits what is happening to the game rn ... We need to do something... But there's nothing we can do to fix that
Honestly, the only reason I wanted to get Overwatch 2 was the story mode.

I've been playing Halo since 2011 and watching it decay over the last decade, being promised again and again that things will get better, but those promises are never delivered; I know the pain you are all going through.
I only play Halo games that are made by Bungie.
