This is a tricky question. For the longest time I never used copyrighted music because of this. However I learned that many copyright holders have deals with youtube so that someone can post a video using their music. Some of these can be found in youtube music policies (ua-cam.com/users/music_policies) but others are not listed at all. My approach when I find a song I like is to search youtube for that song. If there are a number of videos present that use that song (often lyric videos) and those videos are not posted directly by the artist, then most likely the copyright holder is okay with people using the music in their videos. Why? Exposure and/or ad revenue (they can put ads on the video and make money from it), or they just don't care. It's a dicey game though because you never know for sure until you post.
I'm looking to buy that type but I'm definitely worried about the weight, especially going from a super low profile (jazzish) shoe but I think the sounds would work much better for me (if that makes sense?)
They are somewhat louder than thin jazz taps but if you're just using them in studio I don't know how much difference it makes. If you're using them on stage though the volume may be helpful.

What shoes do you wear?
Jason Samuels Smith Shoes by Bloch. They are heavy which is a big negative but they very durable which is a big positive.
