I am a NY State Licensed Optometrist, (Doctors of Optometry, Suny Downstate) I have been practicing for 10 years, and found Preston's presentation of different spectacles informative and engaging. He seems very knowledgeable as a frame stylist and is a good presenter for the topic at hand, good job Sven and Good Luck!
I second that. I love a jazz number with a man wearing a white tux jacket center stage with a beautiful woman showing her self off in a classic style. Can't wait...
This channel is a treasury of knowledge about the classic menswear. You are doing a colossal work in oder to help people like me look dapper! Thank you a lot!
Thank you so much for helping so many cluessless men! There are many videos and articles on the internet but your channel is the most detailed, and true to historical references.
Preston is great.😄 Loving the details he laid out from the history to how the modern style is. I'm a woman and can't stop watching these videos. Great video as usual Gentleman's Gazette!!
I find it amusing that I LOVE this channel, as I'm a late middle aged lady with questionable fashion sensibility, while my husband dresses very well and with a gentlemen's aesthetic. Your appeal is wide ranging! :-)
Yep. It's all good... Glasses. EyeGlasses. I'm going to get an eyetest and get new eyeglasses+prescription sunglasses, soon. Currently dont have any prescript. shades and my eyeglasses are 4 years old roughly, bad/poor shape. Wow, new presenter!!! New gentleman! This new guy is very good and dapper!
I am slowly getting this channel... initially I thought you were weird, but I think the video delivery has improved so much now and u guys are more likable
Hello Raphael and Preston! I really enjoyed this video and think that Preston is very sympathic and a good presenter! Could you please do a video about bowler hats? Greetings from Franconia
Preston fits right in with the aesthetic of the channel yet has a wonderful personality and presentation! Congrats on the new addition! Looking forward to more videos!
Woah, it's Niles Crane! Awesome! I am 27 and wear Browline glasses from the people who invented them! Shuron's Ronsir Zyl glasses and I love them. They go well with just about any style on any occasion. For sunglasses I also have Shuron's Or my American Optical FG58's a classic 60s design.
I have way too many glasses. But the ones that I'm wearing all the time are my frameless glasses (they're made out of titanium). They look modern and are de facto timeless pieces (unlike framed glasses). When I look back at what was considered hip 20 years ago I realize that it's best to just stick to a more timeless look. I don't want to change my style every couple of decades. Also, since my glasses are silver I can combine them with pretty much any outfit.
I'm 25 and I started wearing rimless style since I was 20 years old. My current occupation is paralegal so my daily outfit is business formal, normally plain white shirt and dark navy sharkskin suits. My daily wear is Lindberg spirit titanium, with thin, rounded, polished silver colored temple and rectangle lens. Before rimless I was wearing Oliver Peoples acetate rounded rim with turtle shell pattern. However, once I went rimless there is noway for me to go back. To me, rimless is the true timeless classic that will never go out of style. A little bit disappointed that you did not cover rimless frame style in this video.
Fantastic presentation! I have been wearing glasses since about five, now 31 and finally starting to figure out a classic rather than wearing what is on trend. Would suggest anyone looking into getting glasses to have the optometrist or fitter check ear height and pupil height side to side. Myself, my right ear is lower, so can't wear frames with rigid earpieces. Never found a frame I enjoyed athletically and fit (can't wear contacts because my eyes are dry and drops were not helping).
Love the new guy. Preston is an amazing man and I look forward to seeing him in future videos. My glasses are from Hugo boss and their boss orange collection. They are made of metal and the stuff that is better than plastic (I forgot the name). They are a two tone where the edges are brushed to give a subtle weathered look. The metal is a gold colour with a dark grey coating and likewise the arms are off white with the same grey coating.
Having just started looking at creating my own dress style glasses, which i have to wear all the time, are something i hadn't really thought much about until now. I have an additional consideration when choosing them, which is that i have a wide face. This means that many of the styles i would go for simply won't fit me. I'm due get new glasses soon, hence watching your videos on the subject.
Excellent discussion on eye wear truly some very informative points on the history of eye glasses as well as materials used to make eye wear as a person who has to wear them in order to see properly I appreciate eye glasses guide for men part 1 and will be looking forward to part 2 thanks ever so much!
I just got my eye exam and new prescription so I got new frames, which are silver titanium round wires. They're so comfortable and just the right size :) They look great and help me see
This so great! Great to have another true gentleman to teach us! For a next possible video series, could you make a video regarding watches. Their history and also the different styles that existed/exist. Again awesome job!
Congratulations for Preston for joining the Gentleman's Gazette. I wear glasses since around 5 y.o. and my eyesight is pretty much bad with very thick lenses, so I don't really have many style alternatives to accommodate the lenses' thickness. For recent years, I've always chose a long rectangular shape with upper half-frame, the frame is pretty thin too so it has a more simple look than bold and thick frames. I always wanted to go frameless, though my lenses prescription are too thick to do that.
I have the same problem but my optician offers “thin and light” lenses to compensate. It’s €75 extra per pair but it does give me some extra options. I was able to get quite thin metal frames using them. Might be worth shopping around for someone who has the same in your area!
I was a big fan of rimless square glasses but unfortunately I ended up breaking them or bending them within few months. Trying black square plastic ones first time, was hard to feel the presence of borders and weight but getting used it. I actually got compliments on it which was non existent for the rimless ones. I still feel the weightless and light rimless is better for me in terms of comfort, would love to hear your thoughts about comfort vs style
Coincidentally, I'm getting ready for an eye exam and will be selecting some new glasses very soon. I'm thinking of titanium frames because they will coordinate easily with my wrist watches.
Do you think you can make a video on how to dress in the tropics? It's pretty hot and humid in the Philippines. It's usually 22 degrees Celsius. I would really like to dress classy like you guys.
The tan vintage jacket is beautiful, but with the large leather sleeve buttons surprised to see you wear cufflinks they seemed overshadowed by the buttons, Great video😀👕👖
Cool style new guy! Love the camel jacket. Very informative I didn't know any thing about glasses before, now I know and can inform others that may not.
Hello Preston, welcome to the club! :) I am curious to see what you are going to present in the future and excited for what you bring to the table. I'd like to note, that the audio profile will have to be adjusted for Prestons voice, the recording is not as balanced as Raphael's is.
Since my days in the USAF, I've preffered metal, pilot-style glasses. I was talked into plastic frames when they became trendy in the 70s, but soon returned to aviators. Glasses shouldn't overpower your face. I like them to be less prominent than many of today’s choices, which I feel are a fleeting trend.
Great video! Which glasses are you wearing on it though? You mentioned every piece of clothing you're wearing except for them. Would love to get my hands on a pair of those!
I am wearing rimless, titanium eyeglasses made by silhouette. They are an independent Austrian band and make the lightest and most flexible eyeglasses in the world. As far as practicality goes, they are unbeatable. I am unable to even notice them. Comfort is quite important when you are wearing glasses not as a fashion statement, but a necessity. I think the model is called minimalist. They pair with everything as there is not much to them. Best glasses in the world, as they are ultra light, corrosion proof, suited for people with metal allergy, uncoated/painted and practically cannot be bent or broken. On the downside is the price and they quite boring to look at. Not made to be a fashion accessory. The optician told me they would likely break after 3 years as most peole play with them and bent them more then they are designed to. If you handle them as intended they will last much longer.
it happens very seldomly that i actually like change, especially in the shows that i watch. But you have choosen Preston very wisely. Perfect Fit!! Really an awesome addition.
Although not included among the choices, if you are allergic to metal like myself, you can often wear Gold Plated metal frames, and avoid getting a rash or itchiness from a typical metal frame as Gold is hypoallergenic. The frames cost me ~200$ and are of high quality made in Canada 🇨🇦 Don’t forget about gold plated!
Preston is an awesome addition to the Gentleman's Gazette channel.
Definitely agree on that!
Hear hear

Preston is super cool, it's awesome to see someone younger and also a wearer of glasses! Two things that apply to me exactly.
This channel deserves millions of subcribers. This channel has grown and videos are enjoyable to watch. I never get tired of watching GG videos. 👍
I would definitely like to hear Preston singing some Jazz as a Jazz saxophonist I love hearing other musicians embrace the style!
Keep your ears peeled--some musical samples may find their way to the channel eventually! -Preston

A great new edition to the channel! I'm sure it's going to be great!
I like Preston, very good addition!! Well dressed young man and very respectful
Love the way Preston speaks, he is a welcome addition for sure. He might seem a little stiff but he'll definitely soften in with greater experience.

Preston looks like a typical Vice President at Pierce & Pierce
He rather looks like someone the yuppies of Pierce & Pierce would pick on.
There is still a manufacturer of tortoise shell frames in Paris. It's called "maison bonnet". Probably the last one.
There are a few others.
there are others in Paris.

Yes, I think it was the second video he filmed. It takes some time to get a routine and figure it all out.
