Really informative video but a slight correction, some companies do cover the whole insurance, I just got an job offer from the Netherlands that covers both my insurance and my partner's insurance. Obviously that does not mean it happens often, maybe I just got lucky.

Keep in mind though that if you don't earn an excess of a certain number as monthly income you will get "zorgtoeslag" (a health insurance allowance) of around €90,- from the government. this ensures that low-incomes don't have to pay that much for insurance. Same goes for the rent, low incomes get "Huurtoeslag" again depending on your monthly income and the type of apartment you live in (you probabaly won't qualify for the rent allowance, sorry. but you could check the health insurance one?)
€110 insurance per person is a dream for Americans. I have 3 people in my family and it costs $1200 USD monthly for US "healthcare". Then we have a $7000 deductible AND THEN we will owe 20% of the final balance for service.
Healthcare is indeed insane in the Netherlands unfortunately, it just gets worse and worse because of greedy companies and a government that seems to suffer from the same problem. And yes you must by law have healthcare if you are living in the Netherlands or visiting it. It's not like in the US where you can pay cash to the hospital or doctor as it isn't allowed. Dutch electrical is 220 or 230 volts, also make sure you have the right plugs or you can always visit a store that will be able to sell you international adapters for your plugs. any do-it-yourself store has those for sure.

I have heard from another expat living in Amsterdam that you are just fine with the blue european insurance card and you dont need to be insured in the Netherlands :? (p.s. in Germany as a student! i pay 120 euros for health insurance and even a tax because i dont have children (i am 24 lol )
What websites did you find that you forgot to take off the 2 step authentication for? I'm moving to Amsterdam in 17 days and I definitely feel like i'm forgetting some!
Hi Diderson! When it rains, we still bike for sure. However, we use weather apps like Buienalarm and Buienradar to inform us what time the rain will be lighter so we don't get soaked on the way. If it's pouring rain all day and we have to get on our bikes, we wear our rain jackets and bike with an umbrella 😂

expats do not get zorgtoeslag, they can easily pay it.

$200 a month for insurance is expensive? I pay almost $700 for basic medical for me and my wife, not counting co-pay or deductible.
i paid 1046 euro for my health isnurance for 2021.
If you move to a city in the Netherlands buy a bicycle it's cheaper faster and healthier
