Been racking my brain about how to get a newel post at the top of my stairs. I’m a chippy by trade but been off the tools years - going to give this method a go!
Glad I stumbled across this - was going to do a floor to ceiling on the landing, which I know I wouldn’t like the look of!

its crazy that you only had 1k subs at this point. its only 5 months ago. fair play for keeping at it. im sure that first 1k was a lot of work for only a small reward subs wise. 17.8k now. keep up the great work.
at least the last chicken stayed in the shop. LOL

Hi Kieran the bit set I was using is from Amazon. The link is below for you. You’ll notice it comes with an extra sleeve to put your own bits in so I added countersinks etc myself.

Just came across your videos pal, spot on attention to detail is class top men, i would like to ask a question… have you came across a structural newel tied in from the top stringer up to the ceiling on a straight flight ?? If so is it safe to take out ??
Cheers pal, keep up the great content 👍🏼👏🏻

Why wasn't the newel post on the flight into the loft fitted in the workshop during manufacture it obviously needed a Newel.
I note that that you said measure of the nosing I was always taught to measure of the pitch line (the point were the tread and riser meet if you trace the line of the riser through to the top of the tread.
All in all though mate tidy job, nice one.

Can you make a video of the set up of where you are cutting to produce such neat work

Hi Marcus. Thanks for the comment. I made myself an MFT table last year and have purchased some bench dogs and fences for it. If you look at any of the kitchen videos you’ll see it on there and coming up on a kitchen I’m doing now 👍🏻

@mrabuilders6723 I'm not sure if the original poster meant what i thought he did but is there anyway you can show you scoring the plaster that was left high, how you found the high spot on the floor to level the plaster to (assuming the window board is meant to sit proud x amount of mm's so this info would be handy to know inorder to know how much offset above the floor level to cut). What you used to mark the level line and what tools you used to score and actually cut the level line so cleanly. You do great work and awesome videos but i usually have questions as it seems to go from A-C on things you likely do as second nature. For a novice like me it would be amazing information.

What was that sinister looking thing hanging on the bottom newel post?
I think I may have asked you this before?- did you do your time as a joiner?
    Another cool vid guys👍

Hi Billy and thanks for your time as always. I did mention this in the video but I did my city and guilds apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery so Ive continued in both fields but I just don’t manufacturer joinery items anymore it’s not cost effective. My favourite has got to be traditional cut roofing and loft conversions. Glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏻

Do used d type glue as it expands

    • @Mr_A_Builders
      @Mr_A_Builders  2 роки тому

Hi Brian. I don’t use expanding glue on stair parts especially oak because it’s a lot harder to clean off but I do use a D4 glue for better bonding strength 👍🏻
