I'm on my third remote control replacement, I think there is a design flaw with Solar remote control, the latest one only lasted 6 weeks, before the lagging, it seem like there is no charge coming into the remote using USB-C or Solar panel at the back on the remote. Before the issue you can point any direction of the TV and it works, now you have to point at a particular angle for it to works sometime. I bought a $7 cheap replacement remote without the voice features on Amazon, and it works perfectly without any issue.
Yeah there's most definitely a design flaw. I'm on my second solar remote. The second one just unpaired and I tried several times for days to get it paired again and gave up. Now I'm going to get a universal one lol

Thanks for the video, When I bought my TV the smart remote worked like BT remote, and I could control my TV even from another room. Now my remote doesn't really work until I point it into the TV IR receiver, and it doesn't even respond if I just pointed the remote into another direction. Does that make sense ? Thanks again :)
Any idea on how to get the remote to work for a single device only? Our TV and my wife Samsung computer monitor both are in the same room and she loses her mind when the remote turns one off when she's trying to turn the other one on. They're about 10 feet apart on two different walls.
There might be a setting on the monitor to turn off any type of remote control. You could also try covering the IR sensor on the monitor with your thumb while using the remote and if that stops it you could just block out the IR with some black tape or something.
Good video!!! How do I pair my Samsung remote to my cox cable box. It does everything except change the channels. I have the exact TV and remote in my other room and it works just fine. Appreciate any efforts and assistance
do you have the same exact box? and usually the cable providers have a menu where you can pair the remote with certain codes. The wonders of tech lol, sometimes it works perfectly sometimes it doesn't.
I have an 85-in television with the solar remote and today for some reason the remote has a red solid light at the top and none of the tricks that you showed in your video worked. Any ideas?
Hello, We recommend charging it for an hour and seeing if that remains. If that does not fix the issue please contact Samsung and attempt to get a new remote under your manufacturer warranty! Thanks, Justin
Hi , when pairing remote/Tv and searching signal with Bluetooth picture on the screen , it always failed. I made a total reset for the TV with original settings and always the same. I used successfully a universal remote but impossible to connect with the solar remote. Do you have any idea please help ! Poor French guy with the Frame 2022

I'm not sure if the solar panel does any charging. Should it simply hold the current battery charge (let's say it's at 20% battery), so you can still use it, or should it charge it to a higher % through the solar? I've never seen my remote at higher than 20% battery since I got it 2 yrs ago, and It's been with solar panel facing up always. It hasn't dropped any lower either though, as I can remember, so it hasn't been a problem. That is until now for some reason I got a pop-up warning of extremely low battery (10%), and even after 1 day it still hadn't charged even 1% higher from solar. This makes me think the solar actually never charged at all, which explains why I've never seen it at higher than 20%. Still that doesn't explain why it has dropped lower from the 20% it usually is at. Anyway I tried USB-C charge for the first time, charged to 100% no issue. After a couple of hrs it's at around 50% stable, not sure if it should deplete that fast? It's not going up though, making me think the solar doesn't work.
I think that the battery life that it displays is probably not accurate, go more based on when it stops working a couple years without charging is what it was intended for. Even if it says 50% it shouldn't be after a full charge so I would just ignore it and use as is.
Thanks for the swift reply! To be clear it did charge to 100% with USB-C but after couple of hrs it said 50%. Since my original comment it has stayed at 50%. So I should ignore it? @@WaltsTV
I was getting a message on my TV (device is connected; Galaxy Watch 5 (82EY)) every time I pushed a button on my solar remote. I own a Galaxy 3 watch so I was confused by this. good video and good information here, thank you.. i think what's also cool about these remotes is beyond the obvious of getting the remote into a sun lit area, these remotes charge from just simply natural light and light illuminated by recessed lighting or lamps, and also wifi signals throughout your house... that's right, wifi frequency pushes some added power into these solar remotes
the actual solar cell could be dead, I would recommend a replacement. Your solution to fixing the remote control problem requires an operational remote. You cannot access any menus on the TV (obviously) without a working remote. So what are you talking about.
I have an issue with a brand new remote and TV. The remote is fully charged, the TV told me it was, but the remote only works if plugged in. As soon as I pull it off the charger, nothing. Okay, before you completely give up on your remote and only if you have the proper tools there is one more thing you can try but it will void your warranty... under the sticker at the bottom of the remote there are two small Philips head screws, once those are removed you can use a spudger or prying tool to carefully split the shell of the remote open taking care not to touch the solar cell on the inside or accidentally damage the battery which is glued to one half of the shell. With the remote opened look at the bottom near the USB-C port and you will find a small gold colored spring pushing down on a small gold pad on the remote's main board, use a small piece of paper and slide it between the pad and the spring for 5 seconds to briefly disconnect battery power from the main board... once this is complete carefully reassemble the remote and attempt pairing once more.
@@barsrodoplu1112 that's unfortunate, my issues have not returned since my initial fix was posted... having said that I don't recall the last time I attempted to use the voice assistant so that could be related in some way though short of a manufacturing or firmware defect I'm not sure how that could be possible.
My SolarCell Samsung remote doesn't work and I did sent it for replacement, but im curious how to connect new remote with new TV if my phone is connected to TV via SmartThings app?
@@WaltsTV So, when I get my new remote I can just reset remote with holding 'back' and 'OK' keys together for 10-15 sec, then connect with holding 'back' and 'play' keys for 3 seconds? I just bought a Samsung TV recently, and its remote gave me a surprise, I was thinking it's a good solution with a rechargeable remote! but, after it gets fully charged, its energy is enough for only 1 -2 days, then it stops working!!! I needed to recharge it very often, it drives the whole family nuts! Lately, since I bought a new Samsung, last two days, it has been connected to USB-C, and it does not work. When I re-connect the C-USB cable from to the remote, it may start working right away, but after a few minutes, it again does not work. HATE this remote!

I can’t get this remote to charge past 50% even though it says it’s at 90% inside of the settings. It only works if it’s plugged into a USBC. As soon as soon as I unplug the remote it won’t work. I’ve let it sit for days under a bright lamp. It’s a piece of junk.
What worked for me: Hard power off the TV. Either: aim at TV and hold the power button on remote 3+ seconds, or pull the power cord from wall and wait 10 seconds before plugging back in.
My remote is just over one year old. The battery discharges within a couple of days. The solar cell does not seem to be working either. The Samsung support centre had a very simple solution- buy another remote!! I wish they had a conventional remote with batteries. This video did not help. Need to keep looking
@WaltsTV Same problem here. Worked fine for a year, and now it only works when plugged in. Won't charge higher than 50% according to the pop up on the TV, but when I go to settings, it says 100%. This is whacked.
So I got a replacement and works fine, once paired. But Determined me thought I’d fix the old one. I griped the top and bottom half’s of the remote in each hand applied opposite lock/pressure, like a Chinese burn. This is best way to open a remote, as soon as I started I noticed the LED on the top was flashing and the remote started working fine ever since has been re paired the new one in the cupboard as a spare. Hope this helps.
Remote is totally dead. I’m asking for guarantee. Anyhow, I cannot use a remote app as it ask me to allow… on the tv. How can I allow it without a remote???
Does Samsung have a phone number specifically for getting a replacement remote that you can share ? Also is there another remote that can be purchased in Best Buy for example that can be used as a replacement alternative for the Samsung TV ?
@WaltsTV so I was able to charge it with the usb from 10% back to 100 % so does that mean after 2 years now it will no longer accept the light charge through solar ? Will charging through usb cable be my new way and how long before it goes down to 10% again ?

I have an 85-in television with the solar remote and today for some reason the remote has a red solid light at the top and none of the tricks that you showed in your video worked. Any ideas?
Hello,
We recommend charging it for an hour and seeing if that remains. If that does not fix the issue please contact Samsung and attempt to get a new remote under your manufacturer warranty!
Thanks,

Did not work for me. A good # to call?
Can I get a Solar Remote for my Smart Tv Samsung even though it did not come with the TV
I am not sure, you can try but they also are not expensive.
Reset of remote worked. Thanks
Good to hear!

Exactly same issue here, but I havent done the factory reset yet. Qn90B 65"
@@soiggeofficial Samsung sent me à New one and it works now. So the issue was from the remote (not from the TV) .Finally I noticed that charging the old remote does not work .

What about charging it? There is a place to plug it in.
USB-C on the bottom!
@@WaltsTV
Our solar remote Samsung scrolls, we have no control its like it takes control? Can you suggest any tips?
Something like this is a little more serious, I would presume it is defective and you might want to consider buying a new remote.
I was getting a message on my TV (device is connected; Galaxy Watch 5 (82EY)) every time I pushed a button on my solar remote. I own a Galaxy 3 watch so I was confused by this. I didnt know if my TV was somehow compromised but every push of a button on the remote would display this message on my TV and it would take 3 to 5 seconds to go away before I could push another button. Resetting and re-pairing the remote fixed my issue, so thanks for your video.

With the remote opened look at the bottom near the USB-C port and you will find a small gold colored spring pushing down on a small gold pad on the remote's main board, use a small piece of paper and slide it between the pad and the spring for 5 seconds to briefly disconnect battery power from the main board... once this is complete carefully reassemble the remote and attempt pairing once more.
does this void the warranty of the tv? I wouldn't think that it would given thats just the remote.

Hi, does the remote charge on solar? My batt percentage stays the same
What percent is it always at? and try direct sunlight see if it changes, and then try usb-c and see if that changes?
It charges with usb-c. In sunlight it just stays the same. It does not charge. I contacted samsung and they told me this is normal. You charge with usb-c. The solar cell only makes the battery last longer. Its not for charging. These are samsung words. I really thought that it was charging with solar the first months.
