I did a search and there doesn't seem to be any further videos about this specific Ornamental Lathe. Tbh something of this caliber really deserves a proper in depth video without the crowds and extra noise and with the builder explaining the details, specifications etc. It's more than obvious the builder is an extremely knowledgeable and talented machinist with the same attributes about OT as well. He knew all the ability's he wanted in a OT lathe and knew how to build it. That's a rare combination. I'd have to think that anyone interested in OT would be interested in the story of building this lathe as well.

For sure one of the most impressive feats I have ever seen.

A beautiful piece of craftsmanship. Sure hope OSHA never sees it.

I bet he was pissed that the main drive (i assume) had so many pit marks from a bad casting. Great work

A stunning piece of machinery, however, the Aloris style toolpost is out of place.

True but it is highly functional. The builder of this lathe would have been thrilled to have such a toolpost back in the time when he made it.

@@Turboy65 This is a new lathe, not an antique. Given how incredibly beautiful, as well as functional, the machine is, I would have at least made a nicer handle for the Aloris, to match the other handles on the machine. And lose the bloody v-belts; there are better and more appropriate alternatives.

On the side of the bed there are brass rings. I have been looking at pics on the web and in my books, what are they? Are they the actual nuts holding the bed to the stand?

My best guess is they are cams for pattern making.

You need to find yourself a better foundry - those brass castings are disgusting - Swiss cheese that the worms have been at - a very incompetent foundry!... Martin
