I bought my switch oled in January 2024 and it was the best decision, it feels like a very premium device , I am having a blast and taking advantage of so many incredible deals on the Nintendo switch shop, there are so many games that go on sale for dirt cheap that's the beauty of buying the switch now. You can also buy physical games that don't go on sale much (Mario, Luigi, Zelda, Kirby, Pokemon, Metroid, etc.) for half price from people selling locally where you live.

So cool about the Switch 2! All that info was really great for me as a mom. I decided to get "myself" a switch lite to share with my little boy until he's older to take good care of a bigger Switch, and now I know that by the time he's at a good age to be holding such an expensive device, there'll actually be an even better one available. 👏
My hubby gave me a switch lite for my 50th and I absolutely love it! Hours of ACNH already played on it! I don’t care the new one is coming out soon - already gathering my library of games.
What should I do if I have an original Switch and a collection of physical games, but the Switch's game scanner has stopped working and the price to repair it is so high that it is not worth it? Should I play software games until the Switch 2 comes out and buy it or should I buy the OLED this year and complete the games in my physical collection?
Id say it depends on a persons bank balance and whether or not they can afford an oled switch right now or if it worth waiting a little bit longer for the next new console possibly happening in 2025. Paying £300 now or possibly £350-£400 for a years time with a brand new console giving you more chance to save. If they buy now they may not be able to afford a brand new console next year which will be more powerful and run better with all the games. Its not that i wouldnt recommend one mind you as i love my oled but id say if the new one is not far off id wait especially if you cant afford the console by purchasing the oled. Its swings and roundabouts and litterly depends on the individual of course. But if you can afford it go for it but shop around and look at second hand too because once the new console is out you dont want to feel regret.
I have to , my grandson really needs a new one. The battery doesn't last long. Even if it's plugged in to AC , the battery goes dead. I have no guarantee a new switch is coming out in 2025. .
I've only played pc and playstation until I got my first switch a few weeks ago. I love it. No performance issues for the games I play, it's not the best for some games since the graphics are a downgrade but for the portability, I could definitely forgive it. 10/10 console for me. Doesn't pack power, but can be packaged in a small bag that I could bring everywhere.
3:50 The regular basic Switch is the only console you should buy if you aren't generally interested in gaming in handheld mode. There is no reason to spend more on a better screen, and you can't even play the Switch Lite on a TV.
Just watched like 10 videos trying to understand if I should buy the OLED for my kid on today's Amazon Prime Days sale, and I should note that your advise is the most justified one. Thanks for that! Not gonna jump on Switch 2 right away for sure so with the current price of $290 for the OLED I'll go buy one right now :)
At this point it'll be the safest to just wait for Switch 2, altho it looks like it's not coming anytime soon at this rate from the rumors and all saying how it's been delayed to March 2025 at the earliest
And this point I’d say let people decide and I would say yes to get a Switch in 2024 as it’s the best system on the market with the best library of games and exclusives.
I got mine last October and have stocked up on mainline games on sale - no regrets. I wanted the games, so I got the switch. When the switch 2 comes I’ll probably buy it, but I’ll still finish my games ^^
I'm actually watching this on a switch V2 which I bought just this month. No regrets 😅. Still very happy with the purchase. I bought this so I can play on TV or handheld but not for portability. I don't play video games outside except for mobile games (Genshin Impact). If I can play on TV at home, I don't need an OLED screen. One other point to consider
I won't buy the New Console if there's no New Animal Crossing game. I bought the lite 2020 for AC. But i want to buy a Normal Switch cus my lite is acting up after 4 years, drfting, some buttons are laggy and overused, makes weird noises.. so I have to buy a Back up.
Got my Oled in January not really regretting it, mostly because of the colour speaking of colour who has two soft purple/ lilac joy con (thumbnail picture) on their switch? pastel sure but same colour??? I need answers!
Ngl thinking of upgrading to OLED from my original switch. Don’t think I will get switch 2 on day 1 as I would rather get an oled version of the switch 2 which might be 2 years from original release unless they make an oled version on day 1
I'd say the switch has a bunch of good games but it's not worth waiting for, any good games are on other platforms and better quality and any exclusives are still pretty up there in price
I had a switch lite for about four years. 💀 Didnt realize I owned it for that long. But just like purchasing the lite, the other day I bought an Oled just because. No regrets.
Im buying a switch today please let me know which games i should fet im not much into first person shooter i love mario party smash bros yada yada let me know plz
People who want a Switch should just buy one, and enjoy the games that are available. There's no point in waiting until Nintendo reveals the details about the Successor including the price and release date.
just my two cents but if you've waited this long to get a switch id likely get the lite, it plays super well I love mine for on the go and it is cheap to save up for the next gen system, cant go wrong unless you really just want to dock/play on a bigger screen
as someone that really can't be dropping 329 on an oled but wants to play on the tv, the lcd switch is definitely still a good value coming in at 269 new. plays all my same games and it'll spend its life mostly on the tv. idk where anyone comes out the rip saying the lcd switch is just ancient dino dust and not worth even a penny. and the whole trade in argument doesn't work in this case either as i'm not gonna afford a switch 2 for some time, and i'll still have my massive switch catalog to play out until then.
Im in the opposite boat. The earliest models og switch is the only ones thats hackable without needing to open up the system to add a mod chip. If you want homebrew on your switch buy an early release og switch
I had switch and regretting trading it in for cash at GameStop so I’ll be getting the oled as switch 2 isn’t coming out until 05/25 and the other two gaming systems too expensive as well as you can play those games on PC. However you can’t play Nintendo games on PC unless your pirating.
Great video! I'm one of those people who has tons of old games and one of the few who bought a Wii U late in the life cycle... I think I avoided the Switch at first due to my late adoption and due to the fact that I wrongly felt the power upgrade wasn't enough. I was wrong. Nintendo's graphic artists (and Namco's -- they work together) are so freaking good that the Nintendo art style is worth many graphics cards. Anyway.... at this point I actually am going to wait, even though I agree with your points about playing new Nintendo games. If I wanted to play the new games Right. Now. and wasn't planning on day 1 adoption of Switch 2, then yeah... I'd get an OLED. But right now I have so many old games to play, that I'm fine. And when I do finally get a Switch 2, I will get to play all the old Switch 1 games I missed (unless it's not backwards compatible... then I'll get a Switch 1 at that point). I actually might stock up on Switch 1 games when the sales you mention happen... and wait to play them until I have a system! Thanks for catering to the small group of us who don't have a Switch yet, with this video!
I got switch oled month ago.. Not knowing for Switch 2, even tho I do not live in a country where switch cost 300$ but 500€ which is very expensive and different range in price. I am still thinking of getting Switch 2. Do I believe that switch oled is not worth buying, no it is worth to get you still can play pokemon or zelda for example, some info say that you can play those games on a new switch 2 but still, if you want just get it and the next year you can wait a bit longer to get a switch 2. You still have tons of games for Oled and most of the games are offline so you will play alone however you turn tables. For online gaming I can understand that you would want a new switch 2 straight away. I will get a new one but still wont throw the old one, due it is still usable.
If you never had a switch, it's a no brainer. There are 35 games with a metacritic score of 90 or higher. And many of them are best to play on switch because they are Indies or exclusive Nintendo games.
I was watching these kind of videos when I got my switch in 2021 lol and it never came, I think now is the time that people should hold back on switches if they want the latest and greatest stuff
Personally, I would wholeheartedly recommend the current switch which is still an amazing system and while I want switch 2 I’m not sure if I will get it straight away because I’m still enjoying my current switch which I’ve only had since October so I still have a lot of games to play through in my backlog and plenty of games to buy so I’m not even close to being done with my switch which won’t be for a long time.
@@Toxicbee97 personally I think a upgrade is good when your switch is having issues. Mine is 2 years old and as of right now I don't see a reason to replace it.
There's also no guarantee that the switch two will come out in March 2025 it may be delayed by a few more months that would not surprise me... and it may also have very few games available when it launches , it will take some time before the switch2 is optimized with a good selection of games. bottom line you still have a year approximately to enjoy your switch if you buy now
YES I KNOW the Switch successor is coming out some point in 2025. I have had my OG Switch since launch, never needed to buy a Switch Lite; however, I have always wanted a Switch OLED since it was unveiled. I still want one. Should I still buy an OLED model in the 2nd of 2024, knowing the Switch 2 is 8-12 months away?
I only bought my switch about a year ago the oled one and ive played it more than my ps5 i bought it especially for the Nintendo games i just wish at this point in the consoles life games got sales
As for Paper Mario: TTYD remake I hope it comes to stores/shop sooner to now than later so we can watch GameXplain live-stream the full game asap like Derrick Bitnerd did for the Gamecube version did before he left GX 'his streamed playlists of all Paper Mario games is on his YT channel Bitnerd Games'.
I think it's definitely still worth it cuz we're at least 6 months out but also take into accountability that nintendo never discounts their main games ever so its stuck at 60 to 70 ,where as steam deck on pc ,u will almost never have to pay full price games but I love them both but I also buy alot of discounted games on eshop tho lol even if their not the main nintendo lineup they still have alot of great games
Joycons are a great idea- ON PAPER - but I feel they have been poorly executed so the lite is great. The oled is good for the screen and use with a pro controller. If buying used the base switch is the most abused in condition so I would avoid. I just can not do the joycons. Yeah I had a grip but that’s obvious. Just kinda annoying that to use the system comfortably you require a purchase. But just for the sheer amount of game options it’s a great proposition however some games struggle so do your research.
There's NO WAY Switch 2 games will be cross-gen, not with anti-consumer Nintendo leading the charge. Switch 2 will be backwards compatible, but you won't be able to play Switch 2 games on the OG Switch or OLED Switch otherwise no-one would upgrade. Lastly, buy the OLED Switch and enjoy what you can now. With the way things are going this country may not last until 2025 with our Government doing everything they can to destroy the Middle class and devalue our dollar. Enjoy what you can while you can because we're closer to the end than you think
i still think its a godo ssytem, i do have ps4/ps5 but i dont play as much as i used to as usually cant find time or feel too tired. Their still some games. But when i do feel in the mood to game i like using my switch oled or my brother switch lite in bed or on the couch when relaxing. Sure its not a powerhouse like many other handhelds or consoles out their but to me its still a godo system to own.
I really wish they’d made something similar to the ps vita tv. I can’t imagine they can’t sell this hardware for $100 if they deleted the screen. I have no desire to play a handheld and would play this thing on a monitor always. Number one reason I never got a switch. I figured they’d have done this by now
It’s worth the buy if Nintendo isn’t going to completely switch up the cartridges and make the next generation consoles games exclusive to just that. If so, I wouldn’t get a switch this late into its life.
I have a Nintendo Switch and my brother has one for himself 'not sure if he's played anything in a long time' and I only play MK8D as for current game and I only play it for GameXplain Mondays tourney and a little bit on Sundays offline to make sure I remember how to play the game I play a few classic games on NSO I like it has NES/SNES/Gameboy systems/N64 games and I hope the next Nintendo system will have those games too when the next Nintendo system comes and a number of games I'd play gets here I might not play the current Nintendo system anymore with so much plugged in we ain't played most games we have in a very long time because its harder to do that so I'm glad at least some of tjose is on Switch and lots of us likes Darby of Blue Television Games Sundays/Tuesdays streams of games.

I just bought my backup Switch Lite….no complaints👍🏻☕️☕️
I have to , my grandson really needs a new one. The battery doesn't last long. Even if it's plugged in to AC , the battery goes dead. I have no guarantee a new switch is coming out in 2025. .
I've only played pc and playstation until I got my first switch a few weeks ago. I love it. No performance issues for the games I play, it's not the best for some games since the graphics are a downgrade but for the portability, I could definitely forgive it. 10/10 console for me. Doesn't pack power, but can be packaged in a small bag that I could bring everywhere.
As someone who has had their Switch since release day, I’d rather wait but I also plan on buying it on release day so that it’s a factor
Great, informative video THANKS !!
3:50 The regular basic Switch is the only console you should buy if you aren't generally interested in gaming in handheld mode. There is no reason to spend more on a better screen, and you can't even play the Switch Lite on a TV.
Would you go for an OG switch, assuming it is the V1 smash bundle? A great deal.
I’d get the OLED
Yeah even though I have an OG Switch (with Splatoon colored joycons mind you) I might as well wait…
The boy who cried wolf has released another video.
He does this every day it is annoying.
The Switch OLED you showed in the beginning is what edition? The orange and purple one. I love the colors! Thanks!
I got mine last October and have stocked up on mainline games on sale - no regrets. I wanted the games, so I got the switch. When the switch 2 comes I’ll probably buy it, but I’ll still finish my games ^^
I bought the OLED version 5 days ago. Loved it. Loved playing on it.
I’d go for the ps5 pro. And then wait to buy switch 2 when it comes with an OLED
I actually agree with this
Or get a pc
PC and Switch are all you need. The PS5 is the most expensive way to play PS4 games.
I say no because if they announce the switch 2 this 2024 and it would go on sale 2025
When do you think they’ll announce pre order dates?
I want to know if the switch 2 will be backwards compatible.
Got my Oled in January not really regretting it, mostly because of the colour speaking of colour who has two soft purple/ lilac joy con (thumbnail picture) on their switch? pastel sure but same colour??? I need answers!
I'd say if you can wait at least until later in the year and there may be a price drop by then. Or buy a cheap secondhand Switch.
Ngl thinking of upgrading to OLED from my original switch. Don’t think I will get switch 2 on day 1 as I would rather get an oled version of the switch 2 which might be 2 years from original release unless they make an oled version on day 1
I'd say the switch has a bunch of good games but it's not worth waiting for, any good games are on other platforms and better quality and any exclusives are still pretty up there in price
i got my switch lite beginning of 2024 and regret nothing
I just brought a Switch OLED. And just building up my switch games collection.
I had a switch lite for about four years. 💀 Didnt realize I owned it for that long. But just like purchasing the lite, the other day I bought an Oled just because. No regrets.
got v2 switch and legion go should i buy the oled?
Im buying a switch today please let me know which games i should fet im not much into first person shooter i love mario party smash bros yada yada let me know plz
People who want a Switch should just buy one, and enjoy the games that are available.
There's no point in waiting until Nintendo reveals the details about the Successor including the price and release date.
All these haters… I love my switch oled wifh my custom matcha green Joycons
Well this didn’t age well, Nintendo direct just announced ALOT to look forward too! Just got my Zelda switch in the mail and I love it!
just my two cents but if you've waited this long to get a switch id likely get the lite, it plays super well I love mine for on the go and it is cheap to save up for the next gen system, cant go wrong unless you really just want to dock/play on a bigger screen
as someone that really can't be dropping 329 on an oled but wants to play on the tv, the lcd switch is definitely still a good value coming in at 269 new. plays all my same games and it'll spend its life mostly on the tv. idk where anyone comes out the rip saying the lcd switch is just ancient dino dust and not worth even a penny. and the whole trade in argument doesn't work in this case either as i'm not gonna afford a switch 2 for some time, and i'll still have my massive switch catalog to play out until then.
You won’t be disappointed
Today I buy 3ds xl
A unpatched v1 switch is going for almost the same as a used oled. The switch will definitely keep its value once the switch 2 comes out.
If games go on sale then I'll be diving full force into the Switch before the new one.
If you never had a switch, it's a no brainer. There are 35 games with a metacritic score of 90 or higher. And many of them are best to play on switch because they are Indies or exclusive Nintendo games.
still a good system but no save your money if you're buying a switch 2 unless you dont care about money
I got into the switch actually 5 years ago 😂 2019 I bought my very first switch lite. 😂 my birthday is on March 25th
After finding out we are waiting another year I got the totk oled switch in Japan for a good price under $250
I was watching these kind of videos when I got my switch in 2021 lol and it never came, I think now is the time that people should hold back on switches if they want the latest and greatest stuff
No if a person wants a Switch, they should buy one and enjoy the games that are available.
@@jsutton0010 yea but not if they want the latest stuff
@@Toxicbee97 But we know nothing about the successor at this point.
Nothing else for to create a video about ?
Wether yes or no it is up to the buyer. They can get opinions from people but in the end its up to them to buy or not buy
Got mine a week ago and its amazing.better than what i was waiting for....awesome games.i got metroid dredd and super mario wonder....
I think it's definitely still worth it cuz we're at least 6 months out but also take into accountability that nintendo never discounts their main games ever so its stuck at 60 to 70 ,where as steam deck on pc ,u will almost never have to pay full price games but I love them both but I also buy alot of discounted games on eshop tho lol even if their not the main nintendo lineup they still have alot of great games
i want to upgrade my switch lite to an oled model but i can't afford it now
Joycons are a great idea- ON PAPER - but I feel they have been poorly executed so the lite is great.
You should buy a regular switch if you don't intend to play without the TV and want to save some money.
I was thinking of buying a switch lite but I think I am gonna wait for rog ally 2024 edition .
Yes it's so close to becoming Nintendos best selling console just needs 15 million more
I really wish they’d made something similar to the ps vita tv. I can’t imagine they can’t sell this hardware for $100 if they deleted the screen. I have no desire to play a handheld and would play this thing on a monitor always. Number one reason I never got a switch. I figured they’d have done this by now
I won't listen any UA-camr on whether I buy a system or not.
Then why u watching and commenting
@@Prodbycabo I don't watch his videos.
Yes, love my oled switch😍🔥
Switch oled in Canada is $479.99 unbelievably
It’s worth the buy if Nintendo isn’t going to completely switch up the cartridges and make the next generation consoles games exclusive to just that. If so, I wouldn’t get a switch this late into its life.
Thanks!
Rumous is the Switch 2 is cheaper than Switch OLED....
Brought Switch OLED today
But 8 years is a consoles life. People buy Sony products even after "the NEXT thing". So yes, you missing out if you still haven't picked this thing up yet. Now BACK TO MY RED 🍒 OLED.
I'm definitely gonna wait.. I have to.. why waste 330€..
I would say yes buy that switch counsels tend to have a 7-8 year life cycle and aren’t known for backward compatibility now is definitely the time to buy a switch and the exclusives from gamers and resellers to gift for kids
