EXTERIOR
This beautiful Mk5 1600L, the final incarnation of Ford’s iconic Cortina is finished in original Corsican Blue (code L0). The factory paint has a glorious deep uniform shine owing to the remarkably low miles covered and the truly cosseted ownership. All factory panels are straight with even gaps and free from corrosion, and the underside is structurally perfect having been protected from new, confirmed by the original Bodyshield window sticker. There are even factory stickers still affixed to the rear axle and exhaust! Only tiny hairline scratches to the paintwork in some areas have remained untreated in order to retain the honest unrestored nature of this fantastic example. All trim sections, glass, lights and badges are pristine and the original supplying dealer number plates, tax disc holder and rear screen sticker remain. Now representing a very rare sight, this truly special Ford Cortina has remained exactly as Ford intended and is certain to delight the avid blue oval enthusiast!
INTERIOR
A factory fresh 1980’s Ford interior even down to the factory build stickers still attached to the seat bases! The term ‘time warp’ can often be used loosely, but upon climbing into this spacious Cortina cabin it’s certainly justified. The perfect Savannah Blue (code F1) fabric seats are completely free from wear or damage commensurate of a car with such few miles covered. The spotless colour keyed carpets, matching door cards and perforated headlining firmly uphold the showroom fresh appeal. All switchgear and functions operate exactly as intended and are housed in a perfect dashboard with no cracks or sun related distortion whatsoever. A wonderfully original classic Ford interior, worthy of the guaranteed praise and accolade it receives.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Ford’s time tested and trustworthy 1600 OHC unit needs little introduction. With a power output of 90bhp, a top speed of 101mph and a 0-60 time of 10.9 seconds allow the car to match the pace of modern traffic with ease. The engine is whisper quiet and wonderfully smooth with recent servicing and timing belt change carried out for peace of mind. Bonnet up exhibiting is a must with this example. The four speed all synchromesh manual gearbox feels light with a positive clutch action and relaxed motoring is effortless.
HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Ford Main Dealer A.E. Chatfield Ltd of Stoke on Trent and first registered on 23rd April 1980, this stunning Ford Cortina has had just four keepers from new. The first and second registered keepers being husband and wife Mr and Mrs Windsor. The vehicle was registered new in Mr Windsor’s name until being transferred to Mrs Windsor upon his passing in February 1991. Mrs Windsor had cherished the car remarkably until 2014 when she herself passed away. The third keeper Mr David Eastwood an avid Cortina fan and Area Representative for the Ford Cortina Owners Club heard about the car and took ownership in order to ensure its safe future. This low mileage delight sat proudly aside his Mk5 2.3 Ghia and Mk3 Saloon, and you can click here to see Mr Eastwood’s enthusiasm for the marque. KGF Classic Cars are delighted to have this example back again after selling it in July 2014 to enthusiast Garry Bingham who has now decided to pursue his dream of owning a Mk2 Granada!
A large collection of MOT certificates in the history file enable the reader to fully track the 28,966 miles covered and a collection of previous maintenance invoices are present. All original handbooks, operating guides and the Ford service booklet remain with the car. There is even a photograph dated April 1983 of the car sat with a brand new Austin Mini Metro!

My Dad had a Ford Cortina Mk5 1600L at one point. He bought it off his parents when they changed their car back in the mid 1980's. A good family car it was to us although basic inside.
The automatic chokes on these cars was their weak point, always sticking on I remember well! Those Pinto engines were tough but they burned oil well eventually & the body rusted away too eventually! Thank you for sharing this once British icon!
Thank you for sharing!
FHL 974V, never forget mine
really very beautiful car
Even the radio plays retro music! Sounded like "A Horse With No Name."
Thank you for your comment!
TUP 396V fond memories
Beautiful condition. My Dad bought one. 1.6L as well. Dig the red socks as well :-)
Thanks for sharing your memories. We wear red socks in all our videos!
Miss the sound of Pinto engines. Nice to hear one again.
Transported back in time to my teenage years.
Keep an eye on our channel because we have soon to come to market a MK5 Carousel and Crusader, both low mileage examples.
KGF Classic Cars can I learn how much u sell it?
Nice ride!!! My first car was a MK4 1.6GL ...still running but i want to restore it!!! History never ends!!!
***** thanks for sharing. Hope you restore the car.
We had 2 both that model. The estate was that that dark blue. The hatchback was silver
Thank you for sharing!
I’ve Always Wanted to get my Hands on a Ford Cortina Mk5’s Saloon Cars in Crusader / Ghia / Carousel Etc
We like them too!
Such a lovely car, I always liked the wheels with the black in the middle and the white circles in the middle and dash with round vents. It looks so tough and large. But I like the name Taunus better.
Beauty
Why dont they make cars like this anymore ..........beautiful car.
Rodonal Ducuate thank you!
My first car. In Aussie the small engine option was the 2L, the largest a 4.1L inline 6.
Thank you for sharing!
Nice car!!!!
Thanks. This example was very special.
Should have been "My lovely Horse" playing on the radio.
TEEEEED!!!!
My first cars was a MKv Cortina and I adored it.
Let's have a time warp and make these exactly the same again
Mine was an mk4 oyster gold 1.6 L with gL wheels and tobacco vinyl roof rbv574t
My dad bought a 2.0 Ghia Mk5 in 1982. Thought it was the flashiest car I had ever seen. Powder blue with chocolate brown velour interior. Those 70's colour choices spilled over into the early 80s too. This one looks mint! Where do you guys find them?
Thanks Craig, so many happy memories of these Cortina's.
RNR 999W strato silver 2.0 Ghia. God, I loved that car. Bought it when I was 20. Those were the days when you didn't need a mortgage to insure a decent motor.
Cortina's are great!
was my first car that I bought after completing national service. mine was the XR6 model with a 3.0 V6 engine......don't make 'em like that today!!
My sweety had a mk 5 cortina 1.6 L reg dgk243x with ghia alloys etc mine had the clock in the middle this one has no clock
learnt to drive in a mark 4 1.6l. really nice car, blue but darker shade than this.
+bobst657 Thanks for sharing. Great car to drive. Very comfortable too.
One mirror as it was. You got a time machine or summat?
Wish we did have a time machine!
That's a beauty! How much did it sell for?
Thank you for the positive feedback. The selling price can only be revealed by the buyer.

Thanks Mark, I have very fond memories of a Mk5 Crusader!
wow.. this is our first family car.. but things get old, so sad my father decided to chop her and sold it into a junkshop..
Roel Uy Oh dear, that is a sorry end. Probably why there are so few left.
I had a beige mk 4 cortina lll67V one carefull owner keelers they were a car hire company in hillingdon
+Steve Brill thanks for sharing.
A very nice car in fact. For myself, i do prefer the previous generation of Mk III, with circle light lenses (rigidless second me). This one is a kind of evolution to or a concession to the german model "Taunus", much more "right" ! Too right.
Thank you for your comment!
Even for the early eighties a very basic design. Rear wheel drive, four speed carburettor.
How can it be so basic , not even a clock.
Most cars of that era was basic!
Are all your socks red?😂
Yes they are!
Whats with weird hand movements and no shoes? lol
We don't wear shoes only red socks!!!!!!
Umm why?
Also my sweety cortina had better seats n front headrests and cloth inserts on the front door panel's and a few more luxuries than this model
What!!!!! Did you go back in time to get this thing., was it in cryo sleep, are you from the matrix that you're just downloading shit into the this world.
+garth james if only! Finding these rare survivors is a big challenge for us.
Is it a classic? Nope.
We hope most will agree this is a classic but thank you for your view.
