کاش ان لوگوں نے اونچی کوٹھیوں کے بدلے مقامی روزگار کے وسائل پیدا کے ہوتے
جی آپ نے سچ کہا ہے لیکن روزگار کے لئے وسائل پیدا کرنے کے لیے صرف پیسہ نہیں ہنر مند افراد کا ہونا ضروری ہے اور پاکستان میں ترقی نہ ہونے کی وجہ یہ ہے کہ حکومتی سطح پر بھی اس کی کوئی کوشش نہیں کی گئی اور لوگوں کا اپنا رجحان بھی نہیں ہے
Even now someone can befriend them . Advise them to live simple life, living in an apartment and either renting those palacial houses and using that money to create some job traning and skills for the orphans. eg sewing or computing or car mechainics . And for the intelligent ones with aspiration to let them get college books or fees, if they are sincere and willing to work hard. Got to protect their earnings. It is a good feeling to see peace and progress within the community and country.
Actually this is the golden period of their lives.
Live simple achieve more. Rent or Sell those "Palaceses" while you are alive and put it to good use. These are all very smart and hard working individuals. Who worked and raised their families. And now in the last yr or decades of their lives, they should focus on the community growth with the same RIGOR. This way Allah shall give them long lives.Even when they are gone all the youth that they helped to become independant, will do the same and they will live through them.
That is what I am doing right here in US. So I am thinking they could do the same too, if someone advises them correctly. I am not waiting for my children to desend down after my death and spend the money valuing it less. I have helped them get excellant education and are doing great here. Rather I should say they have worked hard and Allah accepted their hard work and they are florishing well, by His grace.
All those with the empty palaceses their children seem to be doing well too and that is the reason they do not want to return.
I am sure there are orphanages in their areas that they can serve.
I serve here at the homeless shelters. I feel immense pleasure out of seeing their smiles after eating a good hot meal. As a matter of fact I have gathered a similar minded group of Indian, Pak, Indonesian and Afghan and we all take turns and serve,
I also sponsor the orphans in my home town in India.
actually the Pakistanis have a great great role model in Mr Eddhi. ( I hope I am spelling it correctly) It was one man dedicated to help people by ambulance. He gathered a team and did it better than the govt.
But those ethics come from the family upbringing. His mother used to pack two roti in his lunch box and say one is for you and one to share. Great lady I would say. May all the Muslim children be blessed with such ETHICS . ameen.

I am from Karachi, and a pure Pakistani Christian and my wife is a Muslim Pakistani highly educated.
Currently, I am in Japan last 30 years. I and my Children hold Japanese and Canadian citizenship.
I travel almost all over the world. Japan is one of the best countries in the world. After watching this video, I missed badly my country.
But I think, it is extremely difficult for me and my family can settle in Pakistan.
My wife is a Muslim Pakistani.
As a Pakistani muslim , this country belongs to you as much it belongs to us .Religion comes later but what matters is that you are our Pakistani brother and you deserve equal love and respect as us . Lahore, karachi , islamabad have become very modernised and liberal especially the posh areas like bahria town , DHA , lake city and many other secular residential areas. If you miss your country alot , try settling in Islamabad where the environment and people are liberal and nobody will ever interfere in your personal life . You do not have to live in fear because you have every right to enjoy your life in Pakistan . Do try to visit your beautiful homeland . Love and prayers from Pakistan.

I went to Kharian back in 2008 when I was six years old. My aunt’s husband’s family is from Kharian so we were invited to stay there for a while. Both my parents are originally from Islamabad but we live in the Netherlands so it was nice to see East Pakistan for the first time. One of the things I will never forget is how big and beautiful Kharian was. My aunt’s husband made a very big mansion for his kids but the joke is that they live in England and almost never go to Pakistan. I’ve seen this trend with many Pakistani people. They earn money while living in the west but send everything to Pakistan to build big mansions for their children. These people don’t understand that once you migrate to another country with another culture, your kids will never move to Pakistan in the future. There is literally no point in making these big houses.
Absolutely right. It's totally pointless to make such mansions instead they should help the very poor people with this money those people who are living miserable life.

I lived in Kharian for 14 years of my childhood. My father was working there in Army's area. I remember our landlord who gave us home on rent has a big giant mansions , but he was in Europe.

Last scene was very emotional. Literally, this documentary is a great film that should be shown in public schools in Pakistan. Ehsan (the old guy who was followed later in Norway) participates in the Local Government Elections in Pakistan and he is trying to change the world as much as he can. He is also a father and he built his dreams as an empty mansion. This documentary has a lot many great lessons to learn from every time i watch it. Thank you 🙏🏽

اسی طرح ان لوگوں کے خیالات بھی دکھائے جو پردیسیوں کی کوٹھیاں دیکھ کر رشک کرتے ہیں اور یورپ جا کر اپنے حالات بدلنا چاہتے ہیں
انسان جہاں بھی چلا جائے اسے اس دھرتی سے محبت ہوتی ہے جہاں وہ پیدا ہوا اور جہاں اس کا بچپن گزرا
جو بچے یورپ میں پیدا ہوئے انکا دل وہیں لگتا ہے جبکہ انکے والدین جو پاکستان میں پیدا ہوئے وہ اپنی زندگی کے آخری ایام پاکستان میں گزارنا چاہتے ہیں
کاش ہم مسلمان یہ سمجھ جائے کہ ہماری پہچان کوٹھی یا زمیں نہیں بلکہ ہماری تو پہچان مسجد بنا کہ آباد کرنا ہے کاش کاش ہم ابھی بھی سمبھال لے خود کو ایک مسجد بنائے تو تا قیامت ثواب ملے گا

Building a home for oneself is a dream of everyone who goes abroad and has never lived in a life of luxery. So , I don't think we can blame them, its unfortunate that life had other plans. But yes we need more donations for shelter school etc ..but these things become priority when we think beyond our owns elf and think as a community

I'm from Peshawar and also disabled but in my 16 years educational period I suffered to much hard nd depressed life bcz to addressed my disability,I spent too much tym nd to be a fighter to get a beneficial life but now I am feeling myself a looser bcz I loose my confidence,my emotions and my dreams.

I watched the whole video, it was very fascinating but the last 5 minutes hit me really hard. I couldn't control my tears. This is coming from a person who left Pakistan 20 years ago and can relate to it really well. Well done BBC!
What a touching documentry. I had tears in the last scene. This is a sad reallty of our south asian region. Unfortunatly kids have to leave their parents in search of better opportunities and leave behind these houses empty.

So sad when I see how much individuals have spent on building their big houses. I have seen families who live in poverty in UK 🇬🇧 however they have big, empty houses in Pakistan. Such a sad state of affairs. All for show and all I can see is sadness 😞 in their faces. The next generation will not visit as often and the land grabbers will take over. I
The home is with family 👪 this day and age its all greed and families can't live together 😢 same in Pakistan families don't live together. I went to Pakistan after 12 years and all I saw was greed. As a mature adult I can notice 😌 everything now and the narcissistic behaviour

There’s one thing people have to understand, once you bring your family abroad and kids are educated and raised outside you cannot expect them to come move back to a whole different culture and country . It’s unfair, I can understand why most families don’t live here and have not come back and it’s VERY JUSTIFIED!
