DIY Glass Whiteboard | Making a Modern Style Dry Erase Board using Up-cycled Glass and Pallet Wood

- We made a modern style whiteboard using recycled glass and some leftover pallet wood. This is a simple DIY project that only requires the most basic of power tools.
The Process:
We started by cutting down some pallet wood we had leftover from some other projects. Using the table saw we cut the wood down to size. We then determined how thick of a slot to make by measuring the glass thickness. We were able to make two passes with the table saw to make the slot. We then sanded the wood and used some black spray paint to finish it off. We also painted the head of the screws to make sure they didn't show once the boards were installed. We then installed the board by first leveling and installing the bottom board. then using the glass as a spacer, we marked where the second board should go. All that was left was to slide the glass into place. We used some liquid chalk pens (Link below) to draw on the board and they worked great!

Safety Notes:
Be careful when working with tempered glass. Don't drop it, it could shatter. . .

Get it Superdad!
The shadows behind the glass are so rad. Nice work you guys.
Thanks! I really wanted to edge light it, but time and money prevented that option. lol!
The way it’s put together you can always add it later. I’ve used cr123 batteries for leds and found they last and are small enough to fit in a 2x4.
+Trevor Higgins ohh, great tip! I have a bunch of 18650 cells as well. . . We shall see.
What do you guys think? Let me know!
Cool stuff. that looks really cool.
Depending on the kind of markers you used, a small blacklight would really make it *POP*
being right in a traffic area, did you happen to (hot-melt) glue or calk the glass pane into the wood braces?
seeing as how it takes more than few seconds for paint to dry, you obviously did that with more than one take. to that end, I must compliment your editing too, very nice.
+wmaiuiet [zrugel] Wow, didn’t think to glue the pane in. . . I might do that. Especially with my son drawing on it. (I came home from work to more drawing on the glass) I like the black light idea! And yes, the project was done over two days. Nobody likes to watch paint dry 😂.
