To improve PF we need to minimise reactive power.
Power Factor defines the quality of power that is utilised to convert into another form of energy...0.9 PF means 90% true power is present which is going to be utilised.

Ekbar mujhe interview main pucha tha power factor defination. Main ne apki jaisa bola tha magar interviewers ne aur acha defination deneko bolatha... Tab maine bola " The factor where the true usefull power is used from total power suppiled by a AC circuit."

Mohammad Usman Bhai u're right if we don't maintain powerfactor we should pay extra money for reactive power we can avoid that by using or maintaining own apfc panel
