The BEST 30 minutes of my day!! Love love this and I am sharing! Turned on my Blue tooth speakers and dusted and swept the whole house , just like in the old days.. and I mean old! I’m 78. 🎶❤️🎶
Like Elvis God only made one Hank Williams. No one ever came close to what this man accomplished in 29 years.
The absolute KING of Country Music 🎶. In the early 1990s I was a small boy and my Grandpa kept a Hank Williams tape in the truck at all times. It played over and over again and I knew every single word. It never got old. Grandpa is long gone now but Hank keeps the memories alive. Thank you, Hank
The amazing thing about Hank was he gave us all this great music while in severe back pain and totally boozed up.
Give this man a pencil , a sheet of paper, and a guitar, and he would put you in a spellbound situation. He was as good on stage as he was on records. Simply amazing, I've heard it said that you couldn't take your eyes off him when he performed. Talent out of this world. He could make you dance and cry all in one song. Boy,could this man sing, that's singing folks ,not screaming like the modern singers do. Pure and simple. Just think this was singing and playing live. The best of the best,R.I.P. Mr Hank Williams, your songs will live on and on.
freddie shanks and this is from the last few months of his life when he was living in hell. You'd think he was on top of the world, god I wish I'd been there. I was a year and a half old in England.
@@stewartfenton7660 You can bet he was on some kind of pain meds for his back aka morphine or pretty much anything he wanted. He was probably ok till he'd mix em with alcohol.
The brightest stars burn out soonest.
Don't know if aye ever saw higher accolades or well deserved tribute.
You said it best..best singer and performer ever. So sad to loose him so soon
Old Hank voice was as smooth as silk He could go from high to low and yodel at the same time without missing a beat He really was the greatest country singer that has ever been
How do I get one those song books
No one better. Noone has been. Never ever will be
Hank Williams was truly a musical genius.
This is just so Awesome!!!!!!! Hank Williams is such a treasured songwriter and performer!!!!!!! This video is also a family gem to us since my Dad, Producer/MC/Baltimore Radio Announcer Ray Davis, is the enthusiastic announcer at the start of this show and my mother met him backstage at this very show! She was only 16! What Great history for our family!! Thanks to Melvin!!!!!!
Wow! Imagine that!! Yes -- a true treasure for you and yours! ... as well as the listening public - this should be preserved for all time.
Hello and how are you doing hope all is well with you and your family please stay 😷

The King Of Country Music...
Happy 100th birthday Hank…The King of Country Music.
I have often thought that Hank Williams was to country music what Elvis Presley was to rock n roll music....
Hank had recorded many songs that could have been considered rockabilly .
So wouldn't that have made Hank not only the King of Country Music , but also arguably the father of rockabilly ?
As you listen to this clip , it's proof of just how great Hank was .
Country Music's original OUTLAW !
It amazes me that hank wrote and sang so many classic songs nearly all number ones by the age of twenty nine yrs definitely one of a kind musician I dont think this man will never be forgotten r i p hank
I was in very glad to hear this. I was only three year old when he passed away in 1951. My mom used to listen to him as well listen to Mexican music. I grew up loving both. Hank was the only king of Country Music. I hope I got the year right.
January 1953, but not nitpickin'...we all loved Hank. I was 2 1/2 same age as Jr.
I was named after Luke the drifter ! thank you dad ......still miss you everyday.
...... and just five months later he'd be dead. Very sad he left us so young. I can only imagine what else he had to write and sing. He was a blues man first, but will always be the King of country music to me
Love hearing hank Williams Sr talk
Single greatest performance ive ever seen in my life. God bless this man
THAT is how you open a show!!
Hank accomplished so much in such a short time.29 years old when he passed ,but lived a life of a70 year old man. no one will ever be able to replace him. his singing was incredible smooth and clear that yodel simply amazing. The best of the best.R.I.P. Hank
freddie shanks Holy hell! I don't know much about him even though I wail my best to his songs on road trips. I had no idea he died so young.
amen brother
It don't sound like Hank talking.
Well said and well put, Freddie ! Amazing how much he achieved before reaching the age of 30 !
Yes its him you can tell, his way of joking and his stage patter thats all Hank! I think the recording is just a little slowed down or something!
7 years on the day before I was born.
This is amazing, never thought I would hear a non-radio live performance of Hank Williams. Just another brief glimpse of what a great performer and genial human being this man was despite many sorrows and setbacks in his personal life.
A natural, personal relationship with the audience is a sign of greatness in itself. And how about that awesome delivery.
three dushbags who dislike this, greatest country singer/songwriter of all time.
And they vote, too. Pretty much explains it all!
Damn right he is the best
Maybe it was by accident. I know I’ve done that before and came back to see i disliked a video and was like whaaaaat lol but right, how can someone dislike this haha 😂
If anybody dislikes this sampling of a legend then they do not know what greatness is/was and that makes them douchebags!!
Yankees.
What stands out most with this is just how good they sound, you could be forgiven for thinking its the records.
I was born and raised a few miles from there and we went there many times. Saw many of the greatest there.
It was so sad to watch them trying to get hank to go on stage for his second show he was sitting in the back seat of his Cadillac.
In 1952 I seen him in person I was only 12years of age My Father was stationed in Norfolk Virginia Hank and the boys played for the Veterens Benefit at Arlington National Cemetery Hank was pretty much a peoples person he can relate to everyone he ragalled us with Jokes and stories and he sang I remembered one thing he sang about 5 songs took a break and let the band do instrumentals during his break he would climb in his 1950 Packer sat in the back seat and was drinking soda pop I was corrected as I got older it was Old GrandDad whiskey. LOllllllllllllllllllllllllll by surprise before he went to his car he told everyone he is going to get a glass of milk. done a great show It still is inbedded in my mind even at 78 years of age
A memory to cherish!
Frankie Day Models that’s awesome and funny lol did he have his D-28? With little snowflakes on the board?
wow ' what a menory
that's awesome thanks for your story on hank...
In 1952 Hank had a Cadillac, the 1948 Packard had bit the dust a couple of years earlier.
Thank you Hank... Thanks ...cant never measures but knowing my friend... Hank...

@@glennjohnson8170 Absolutely! He certainly was a prominent part of life, from my earliest memories in the early ‘50’s. He still is. Thanks again, Glenn.
i'm in PA not too far from this! just born decades too late!
To quote Eddie Stubbs, are there any questions? Think of it...live recording, no overdubs, no auto tune, nothing but pure talent. This is why he'll always be the greatest!
God Blessed us with the Talent of Hank Williams! The Letter story was great!
No one can beat the original outlaw . He will always be the king
Hank was first and foremost an ENTERTAINER folks that went to one of his shows came away knowing they had seen something special.

Seven years on the day before I was born!
I got to meet Jerry Rivers and Don Helms in the 1990s, backing Hank's daughter Jett in a free concert in my hometown. Super nice guys. Had them both autograph my original copy of Jerry's book "From Life To Legend." I hope it's not too sacrilegous to say it was sort of like meeting two of the original Apostles.
David Coyle ever get to talk to don about hanks guitar playing?
David Coyle you were so lucky to meet those two guys, who helped shape Hank's sound and are legendary. Sacreligious, not to me, though I'm not a Christian anyway.
@@danielpenaofficial4186Never thought to ask too many questions. I will tell you they were tickled to see my original book. They were selling reprints at the show with the cover in black and white and no ads on the back.

What a treat! I was not even aware that this performance was out there; thank you so much for sharing it. What is left to say after all the great comments that people have posted; I second them all. It’s as if we were all there, back in 1952. Raw, uncensored, and pure vintage listening pleasure.

AWESOME! And happy Heavenly 94th birthday to HANK
Hank was born in September on the 17 of 1923 but died on January 1st of 1953.

damn this performance was about 45 minutes away from where i live now, i was born way too late, like 30 years too late :(
There is an interview with Mac Wiseman on UA-cam where Mac talks briefly about Hank's appearance at Sunset Park. Mac appeared there every week for a long while (as a warm-up act apparently). Look up ..."Mac Wiseman Remembers His Old Friend Hank Williams" The mention of Sunset Park is at the eleven minute mark of the video.
What a treasure !!! thanks ☺
enjoyed this right here. won't ever get old
He sounds even better live than he does on recordings
Like all your songs bring back memories
Amazing!! funny too!! True legend!!
To me, Hank Williams has always been a staple in my life, starting with my grandpa, and all this exposure to different kinds of music. I used to play him all the time in the bar i worked at to the dismay of most, but there were a few. Hank...a poet, really, through the blues.
Hank sounds so healthy here
I think there's something fundamentally wrong with the basic story. You listen to this, or watch Kate Smith, and it just doesn't add up.
@@benwashburn8553 I;ve always believed that Hank was accidentally over dosed the night at the Andrew Johnson Hotel. He was already drinking and taking prescription drugs. The doctors were called in to help him with Hi-cups,Too much pain medicine with all the other more than likely over dosed him and his heart could't stand it.He had an Heart Attack earlier in his life.He was so amazing and healthy here in this concert just months before he passed that lonely night on his last ride.
Real country music,
SMOOTHED OUT MY HEART
Pure Gold.

My hero
Really great to hear this. Thank you!!!!
I had two original Polaroid photographs of Hank at Sunset Park. There was a lady who went to all those shows in the 50's. She would take a Polaroid picture and then ask many of the performers to sign it. I had a polaroid of Johnny Cash from the Sun era, string tie and white blazer. The owner of Sunset Park stipulated that the performer had to pose for photos. I had to sell them but I made nice large copies. (I got to thinking....maybe the pictures of Hank weren't polaroids. They might have been 35 millimeter camera photos. I figure that the photos from the mid-late 50's were polaroid because they were signed by the singer. There are pictures of Ernest Tubb and Roy Acuff that looked like the 1940s so they had to be 35 mm, I guess.
They are all posed in the same spot outside of the dressing room.)
Plz make a vid on them that would be awesome too see
@@AA-xk7gy I don't know how to post a video. I think there are photos of Sunset Park performers on a Sunset Park website. That's a good idea though. I only made copies of about 12 or so photos but they are good. I got some of the photos from the owner, Mr. Waltman ( I believe that's his name). Nobody had thought to ask him until the mid-1990's. Amazing. Thanks for asking.
spazhat there are plenty of tutorials on how to make a video as long as you have a smartphone.
@@AA-xk7gy I have tried to understand the instructions. I'm 67 and I can barely use the text stuff on my smartphone. I texted the wrong person today!
On a different subject, when I was a kid, my family would pass Sunset Park every two weeks approximately traveling to my uncle's farm in Oxford. I didn't know what country music was until my mid-teens. Now I'm a fanatic.
I don't think the Polaroid camera by Kodak was made until the late 60s or early 70s.
AWESOME

This is a gem. (Speed is slow, though. There’s another upload at correct speed.).

Hank was a born 🌟 & some say he was a bit big headed but compared to some of today's so called celebrity & 🌟 performers Hank was streets ahead and also the great songs he wrote & never forget Hank sadly was called by God before he was thirty years of age & he would only have got even better if that was possible if the Great one had not called him Home ******
What more can be added apart from along with been a very talented song writer and singer he was a human being who wrote about like our friend John Prine the sadness of life & both also could see the funny side & I hope you meet up across the Jordan River in Cannans land please God ********
Was but three years old when he died.
