I had a 58 720 diesel. I have no video of it but in my last video about the 100 year history on this farm, I got to put a couple pictures of it up. They were awesome tractors. Mine was electric start with a wide front end. I pulled a 4x14’s pull type plow with it in the clay hills here in northeast Iowa. I wish I had never sold it.
Those 730 diesels were very fuel efficient, a neighbor of mine had one when he was a young farmer, he said it used less than a gallon of fuel/hour raking hay
Not sure if that’s a real statistic… You should be careful on whatever piece of equipment you’re running. Also, if you’re familiar to running a hand clutch, you can be just as precise as a foot clutch. Maybe your clutch was out of adjustment?
I pulled a 4 bottom plough with a 730 in pasture like this with no problems. Unless this fellow did not have a bigger plough. By the way, why did he remove his fenders? They are there for a reason.
Sounds like you are running that tractor about half throttle, if so you are not doing that diesel engine any favors, open her up and let it pull. Nice tractor for sure.
Jim, 3 bottoms are plenty for our small, hilly fields in southwestern Pennsylvania. With an extra 1,500 lbs. of rear weights plus heavy cast centers we were starting to lose traction on the last few passes.
Spectacular "John Deere 730"!!!!.. Congratulations!!!!👍👏💪💚💛🇺🇸
Thank you!!

Nice! They are good tractors, whether working them or showing them…
very soporific, very relaxing listening to this. nice running 730.
Thank you!

Yes, we agree with that!
Nice work tractor sounds great
Thanks Jeff!
The gears sound good too
Nice 730 thanks
Thank you.
I miss the sound of these 2 cylinder tractors and driving them. Still wish I had one
They are a lot of fun still!
Plowing in 2nd and disking in 3rd? I say sock it to the ole hotdog!😂 Good video and thanks.
Plowing in 1st, more than likely discing in 2nd. Thanks for watching!
Good job thanx
Little bit of wheel slip is a good thing.
Most tractors have some amount of wheel dlip
We had 730 diesel by the end of a long day in the saddle your brian was fired with that banging noise... we move to a 3010 gas
I was always told that you plowed all day with a putt putts and then sound from one in your sleep
JD two bangers took off move fingers from hooking up a wagon hitch then any tractor. Had to ride the brakes backing up to hook up.
Only if you're stupid. Back up a little too far, then put drawbar pin in while inching forward. I grew up and still have 2 cyl. & fingers.

yeah, 4 -5 bottoms but its also not working at all! warm it up, let it sweat a bit!

not all 730 had fenders we had 2 on the farm without fenders
That was an option on 730s
Just curious why only 3 bottoms I thought a 730 would do more than that I pulled 6-16s behind my 830

Sounds like you haven’t been around to many 2 cylinder JD’s the operating rpm for a 730 diesel is only 1125 rpm. It’s not a 4020 JD.
It's perfect
This was full throttle I can assure you.
What's the ear muffs for ? Lol That's the best sound in the world next to a Detroit Diesel and an old V8 Cat.
Whattttt? Can’t hear you
Harley?
Umm maybe.
what is with the ear muffs old timer loved to here the old john deeres pull modern day farmers
Old timers love to ask “what did you say” also.

Beautiful 730, this man knows how to operate a 2cylinder!
Here in West ern North Carolina the Red clay 3 16 was enough for 730
@@fleecydalefarm2840 I see you edited your comment. Good Boy!
