Fishing Alaska: Snagging at Allison Point, Valdez 2018

- My buddy and I spent a few hours with our kiddos down at Allison Point located in Valdez Alaska to let them get out and catch some ocean fresh Pink Salmon to put in the smoker. It is an great place to take kids because it is Non-stop fishing action and the wildlife is amazing. Do be careful because we witnessed multiple bears come down to fish as well the short time we were there. It’s legal to snag em out there?
You are allowed to snag in any body of water that is the ocean. I think you are allowed 6 fish a day and 12 in your possession unless you snag a King. If you end up going just double check the regulations.
I went there 2 days ago and caught 16 pinks.
I might have been down there the same day. Was making a video of the pink run with my drone. Just got back. The wind was absolutely insane. Hope you had fun and stayed safe with that crazy wind!

Middle to last week of July is when they are thick.

When they are in they are in there. Legal snagging is allowed in saltwater here so you can limit out in no time and it is a blast for the little ones as well.
Valdez. One of my favorite places in Alaska on the road system. No shortage of pinks.Thats for sure. And that becomes more apparent as late August/September comes. There just everywhere carpeting the high tide lines at low tide. A great way to introduce your kids a bit without the gangs of fishing competition.
We hit it at the perfect time.
Are they running yet in Valdez this year?
Not yet. The pinks come in closer to the last week of July down in Valdez. I know the Reds are going crazy in Seward at the moment. Sorry I was up in Paxson catching grayling the past few days. Hope you get out and get some fish! Good luck.
