I just ordered an AD17e Blacktop that I'm taking on my European tour in June and at the end, I'm going to find a deserving Ukranian refugee who lost their guitar(s) back home - and I'm going to give them the guitar as my gift of hope and love from Nashville. Let me know if you know of someone or just send them to my show in Prague June 24th so I can meet them. I'm stoked to be doing some good on this tour. Aloha!
thanks for doing the reviews buddy :)
When is it released?
Any idea where Teja is from? I can never workout his accent.
I think Germany...
He's German
thank you both
ich nein spreken zee deutsch
Thought it sounded great actually! I was listening with a set of Sony MDR-1RNC over ear headphones. Lot of hate out there! Lol
Nice Slope Shoulder
How much is it..?
for you??
It's not too bad finger picked .
I’m a Taylor guy and got to say all the reviews I’ve seen of the AD series tell me you’d be a lot better off spending the same money on a used 300 or 400 series.
i guess ya do not read much huh?
nah u need to play a grand pacific to get it
“I’m a Taylor guy.”
~ not a Taylor guy
It’s October 2021 and I just bought my first Taylor American Dream (AD17). I was incredibly surprised at light this guitar is with the new V class bracing. The sustain is impressive as well. I hear what your saying as far as the 300 or 400 series but I have to disagree. This model is stripped of any bells and whistles but what it lacks in bindings and decorative inlets, it makes up for in sound, sustainability and weight. The guitar appears to be full size but it’s actually slightly smaller but small like the mini. I would suggest going to your nearest guitar shop and play it. It comes with DiAddorio light gauge so don’t let that fool your ear on the high side sounds. Anyway my opinion is mine just wanted to say I’m now proud to be a Taylor owner. Oh and the new aerocase it comes with is awesome as well!!!
Correction: but not small like the mini, perfect size.
looks very cool but no one paints a nice-looking solid wood, unless you have a lot of bad looking wood you need to use...
Your strumming is not bad(: but your fingerpicking in dropped D tuning is cool
GS MINI, GS MINI, GS MINI.
THE BEST GUITAR THEY MAKE
electronics are trash on gs mini
Sounds thin....not like a $1700 guitar. Maybe its just this video / mic setup.
It's the mic setup and what seems to be a lack of EQ and compression as well... :( I own the guitar myself and I can attest to how rich and boomy the sound is!
These aren't electric, are they?
YES THEY ARE
Is it just me or does this guitar sound terrible (tinny)?
That's what happens when you point a mic at the strumming hand.

@@gabrielobrien21 Yes, this sounds much better but it's using the pre-amp not a pure acoustic recording.
probably the worst sounding recording I have heard of this. the voice is even trebley and brighter.
It sounds exactly how I'd expect a Taylor to sound
Still expensive
I agree. But, they’re made in California. You’re not going to get China or Mexico price points. Realistically, these are priced comparable to 15e, 16 and 17 series Martin guitars as far as USA made acoustics. Given that these aren’t priced much below the 317 Grand Pacific, I’m not convinced based on what I’ve played and heard that the AD 17 is a good value.
Seems like Taylor tried to copy the Martin17 black smoke, but failed.
I love the look of these guitars but not too impressed with the sound. They're also not that cheap.
Not impressed by the nasally tone. Sounds too thin... lacking low end fullness. Stripped down in every way...yeah except price. $1700+?. no thanks. I do like the matte black top though.
I really want to like this guitar. But I think he's right.
@d-houston What is your standard for identifying someone as a “hater”? Anything short of unconditional ebullient praise? The weaker position, akin to the tone of the AD 17 (as compared to a 317), is to be an unpaid apologist for someone else’s corporate interest. 🤦🏽♂️
Nasally my ass. It's incredible what some goofballs come up with.
Not a review. Long history lesson
It’s a demo, as clearly stated in the title.
very boxy and bright no depth
That describes every Taylor I've ever heard or played haha
I just got one of these. It sounds terrible. Not the normal jangly taylor terrible more like if a Martin was too small and had a wet blanket thrown over it kind of terrible.

Yep, these are a major disappointment. You STILL have to spend over 2k to get a nice sounding Taylor. I’m lusting after the new 326ce but I’d have to sell a couple great guitars to afford it.
@@fredflinstone3173 I sent mine back. Honestly I wish taylor would get it together
Warren'sChannel
Yeah they blew it with these, but I guess it stands to reason, they don’t want to eat into their upper tier market with cheaper good sounding models. Martin does the same thing.
Take a look at Furch Blue series. They run about $1200 to $1400 and sound fantastic imo.
OK..sell me yours,,im in!
I played one of these - the guitar sucks its weak and lacks projection you can tell in this video your playing hard but the guitar is struggling to be heard and doesn't sound that good - thumbs down in my opinion - but you so called reviewers never give an honest review - you're salesman not journalist.
I really hate this guitar for some reason, maybe the sound, name or looks...not sure, maybe all three.
Like we hate you?
@@joebloggs8636 you might not agree with his opinion but his opinion is valid like everyone else's. this is a subjective thing,
That sounds like crap , I expected much better from Taylor , and I loved Taylor's ??????
Where you place a microphone has everything to do with the recorded sound. I love Teja, but I wouldn't use this mic for acoustic guitars, nor would I point it at your strumming hand.

Are you high again Willie?
