Love this video, and I'm sorry about your dads passing. I recently got a whoop as im trying to improve my mental and physical health, and wellbeing. Your videos have been so helpful.
Hey dude, this is an amazing share. Really powerful. My HRV is low 20's, and recently been diagnosed with PTSD. Going to get after my MH and focus on HRV as a measure of health. My RHR is 56. But I'm overweight and not where I want to be fitness wise. Your Dad did well. He must be proud. Aidan
This is the first video of yours that I watched, and you can consider me a lifetime subscriber! I wish more folks talked about mental health. I can’t wait to find the podcast!
Commenting for the algorithm interaction, but just setting mini goals and accomplishing them has helped me the most. Anything from fitness goals to daily life has helped me, and being more accountable.
wow to see where your hrv started to where it is now is inspiring. I would say mine is low *mainly* because of mental health - to be able to see how triggers have affected me physiologically has been not fun but very enlightening. thank you for this video!
This is interesting. I was just going through video reviews about whoop again to decide if I run it alongside my garmin Fenix 7, and I found your video. Since covid at Xmas, I noticed my HRV just isn’t where it was before. Physically I’m fine and wondered why my HRV hasn’t gone back to where it was. I have been really suffering with my PTSD and depression in recent week and just been signed off for some time. It will be interesting to see if my HRV improves over time whilst I sort myself out. Great video
Great videos man, just got my whoop last week, in combo with my gen 2 oura ring and monitoring glucose to test what foods do beat with me, I can't wait to see the results in the long run
Very interesting because I'm looking for exactly the same thing. So ask: What are your experiences after 1 year? Have you been able to identify exactly which foods are good for you and which are not? Best regards
@@df5485 tracking has been a game changer. My oura ring gave out 6 months ago but I've had the whoop strap, and monitoring glucose levels. At 36 years old I have concluded that my sweet spot for sleep is 6 1/2 to 7 hours. I do much better on lower carb diet. I did a moderate carb diet for 3 months as part of a fitness program about 200grams per day, although I did lose weight and get in good shape, I was always tired, lethargic. I noticed grains such as bread and pasta gave me stomach issues, but the worst stomach issues, and brain fog by far were from processed foods and sugar. I would even notice anxiety and mood swings says after consuming these. Read your food labels, I avoid vegetable oils and just foods in general that have too many ingredients. Managing sleep, meditating, exercising 3-5 times a week and eating low carb has been the most optimal for me. No more anxiety, mental health is really good right now. Is everyday perfect? No chance, life always throws challenges your way, but having mental clarity from a good diet and exercising makes things more tolerable. I hope that helped, good luck on your journey, remember to be consistent and you will do great
Another great video. I have the whoop 4.0, but I am having a calorie count problem. I did a kettlebell HIIT workout out and only got 150 calories, vs my polar chest strap at 400. Same with strength training. Seems to under evaluate by a lot as compared to polar and garmin. Do you have this problem? Wondering if this device is for me because I do not do crossfit. I strength train mostly and mix in some long runs and occasion kettlebell. Just wondering if all the metrics are correct with such a low calorie count. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Calorie tracking is just terrible on every device. I've worn 5 devices at once (whoop, oura, polar h10, garmin, apple watch), and not a single one was agreeable. The Apple Watch Series 7 was 2x higher than all other devices, which was crazy. Garmin was 70% lower, with the Whoop, Oura, and Polar H10 at least being somewhat in the same zip code. t's not a metric I ever pay attention to.
The calorie counting on whoop is remarkably bad. Like exceptional. You’d be better off just putting in your general activity on a BMR calculator on a variety of types of days and just treat that as gospel. If I followed whoop to maintain my weight I’d lose the little fat I have but also a ton of muscle
Do you notice any difference between accuracy with biceps band ? Whoop sent me a free bicep band since i was critiquing the accuracy of the HR . It was not good against garmin 945 lte or with HR strap it can't really compare. Gonna be trying this bicep band next time 🤙🤩 How important is the HRV ? I found my highest has been 146 HRV @100% im 35 years old
One of the things i find annoying about all fitness trackers, not whoop specific is the uncomfortable feeling of wearing it when i sleep. Any idea on how to improve this?
I don’t understand journaling at all. My therapist kept recommending it to me but never explained what I’m supposed to write. Therefore I don’t get it and I’ve never done it.
From my non-formal uneducated understanding of it, it's more about organizing your thoughts and getting things out in the open. There's studies that have shown by merely expressing your feelings, whether on paper, or out in the open, it has a positive effect on your mental health. For me, utilizing prompted journals, it forces me to think about things that I either haven't or have been jumbled in my mind. More meditative, and you can work through your thoughts which clears them out of your head and allows you to focus on other things that need your focus instead of leering in the back of your mind. The MindJournal helped me with this a ton, as well as reading Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey, as surprising as that sounds. Great book. Hope that helps!
Be absolutely clear that Whoop’s sleep tracker is highly flawed. Last night it recorded that I was “awake” for 4 hours and 35 minutes. Absolute nonsense.
Why do you keep leaving this same message on every whoop video lol. There is a postdoctoral researcher on UA-cam that tested it against an EEG and it had good accuracy.
I’m think of changing from the fitbit I’ve had for 5 years to whoop. So that’s useful feedback. My Fitbit very regularly thinks I’m asleep when I’m just sitting watching TV. I guess I don’t move around that much. 🤷🏽♀️

I’m sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing. Great explanation on hrv. I’m loving my whoop.

Thank you! Wish you the best in your MH journey. It’s done wonders for me. I need to do more MH focused product videos

Sorry to hear your loss. Thanks for the video...
This is awesome insight on the scores being effected. Condolences for the lost of your father.

Everytime I have searched for what product would be the best investment, I’ve always turned back to your page. So informative!
great video bro thanks! just bought the WHOOP!
I respect you so much my friend. Last September my sister passed as well, on the 24th. My metrics definitely where messed up. I also love journaling
So sorry to hear that, but glad you take steps towards improvement
Great video, thank you Wes James! 👍🏻
Excellent video buddy! Greetings from Greece!

My average HRV is around 90 and I’ve never been happiern
Best wishes sorry to hear. Looks like he raised a kind well spoken young man
Thanks for sharing. Didn’t realise that mental health had such an impact on HRV.
amazing video, good insignts

Agree. Calorie counts are not very accurate and to be honest kind of pointless. I would just focus on Average HR for each workout.

How did the bicep band work?
Doesn't the Apple Watch also track HRV I know it shows up in the apple health metrics at least
It does but unless you have a good third party app it does really help the user understand the data
Thank you.
MY recovery has been low for 5 days and can't figure out why

Sounds like you should try the bicep band. To me it’s super comfortable

Fitbit: Heart Rate Variability is also measured by FitBit.

Music is too loud, hard to focus on your voice

My whoop 4.0 is spot on with Garmin and my Apple Watch over a 30 day period. I wonder if they could send you a new Unit.
Faulty product perhaps or maybe setttings is setup incorrectly
