On pick a brick 64 of the 4x4 plates cost 13.44 € meanwhile 4 of the 16x16 plates (of same color) only cost 10.88€. Personally I live in Finland so I think bricklink is a bit expensive to order here. Anyway, I don't think I'm converting to MILS plates as it just seems too expensive and I'm not planning on expanding my Lego city. I already have extra road plates lying around with my current setup.
I’m sticking with the classic road baseplates! I made two different road sections with my gray bricks/plates, and it’s just too much. I’ll use them for bridges/overpasses though.
Aaag, I was a naysayer on the new road plates but I think I have to switch over also. I never had any of the old Lego brand road plates but i did buy some non-Lego(shhh!) (Apollo?) road plates from Amazon so I think I will just use them to make mil plates so thanks for this tip.
I wonder if the top plate could be the grey road plate still. Crazy glue bonds Lego very well, I know it's against the Lego law, but it would build up the road nicely to match the MILS plates 🤔
Ya I agree, I think it will just ruin the roads. I like your MILS builds so I have to look into that. I have some learning to do so I can improve my city and I think this is the channel to watch. Thanks!
You probably could use the new road plates on the old road baseplates. You'd have to make it at least one wider, or remove some of the 2x2 bricks and swap them out for plates.
I will not use the new Road Plate element. Similar to the theme of Trains.....WHY some parts have not been fabricated is a decades long wrong. Like Bionicle or ZNAPS, this new part is now a separate system. Yes, the scale of vehicles/minifigures must have a way to play the best. This element is not doing that, it is additional and does not interchange with all components. The saving credit for this plastic play could be NO MORE WAFFLE BOARDS. ....and return the Base Plate Bricks, the cost will be the same laff as all of it.
Official LEGO baseplates do not have the traditional underside brick hold necessary to attach to bricks in that capacity so plates need to be used instead.
I will probably not use the road plates and i will keep them for someone else, but it’s a great idea if you need to use them. Looking forward to seeing the new road mils plate .
wouldnt it be better to have the printed side visible?this might require some illegal builds and questionable stability but personally i wouldnt mind, just put it the right way and attach something underneath the other plate up over the edges
There is a newer method out that includes using that piece that looks like a round peg 1x1. However, it’s more for show and less sturdy. This video is intended to show that you don’t have to just ditch the plates altogether in a box somewhere. They can be used as baseplates for a mils plate.
I think the stability in part generally comes from the amount of bricks you place underneath. 16x16 plates can be expensive as well, more so than the 4x4 and not always available in bulk or the right colors. Additionally if you like to landscape with your mils, it’s hard to remove sections of 16x16 or carve out areas. If you choose to use 16x16 plates with the rest of the method it could very well be stronger but don’t skimp on the bricks. I’ve seen people do that and then the modulars start to bow!
You can use this method with new road plates: just use larger plates on the bottom to reach the studs on the side!
Yes you totally can do that as well!
You are answering so many of my questions on this channel. Thanks!
Luckily you got in when I can! Though I hope I can always try to answer a few good questions!

Yes the price has changed quite a bit over the last year or so that I’ve made them. No matter what it’s an added expense.
That's one very clever idea.

Make sure to get them during this prime day if they still have them! Good luck!
Nice tip! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Great video and channel, so surprised you haven’t got more subs!
Thank you 😊 just takes time!

Haha! I won’t tell!
@@LittleBinsandBricks And the new road plates are on sale at Target also, perfect timing!
Amazing

Haha! I’m guessing that’s a no from me!

Wow that’s a lot of base plates! Now I know why I can’t find them...j/k. Nice update!
Haha! There here if you can’t find them at any point!

It’s probably doable with a little work. Though easy to use in other areas as well!
I will not use the new Road Plate element.

I’m new to everything….. how come you don’t use the same base plate on top and bottom

Sounds good! Not 💯 sure where and when I will use them but at least the option is there!
@@LittleBinsandBricks maybe sale them or give them to some one

Why are the 4x4 plates more stable then the 16x16? I would think it would be the other way around.

Just a stupid idea, but could you put the plates upside down on a baseplate to more or less hold them in place as you build?
