4:16 I really have no idea why but this man here with his seemingly birthday cake and balloons makes me so happy to the point of tears Just a sweet guy having a good time
I think my favorite part of this entire scene has to be at 4:27 when she whistles along to the background score by Desplat. Idk how to explain it, it's such a simple touch and yet it makes me feel all sorts of emotions. Guillermo knew what he was doing.
What a great movie. There were so many emotions driving this movie, jealousy, love, wanting to belong, sexual desire, the need for freedom, the need to conform while feeling the need to break free, acceptance, denial. In the end, I wonder if who was set free more, the creature or Elisa. This movie is suspenseful, lifting, poetic, moving, uplifting and so much more all at the same time.
Nice scene! You get to know Elisa, modest, ordinary girl-next-door. Because she is disabeled and orphan she's used to expect not much from life. But she also, like any other girl/woman likes shoes, loves to dance. What a great way to open the movie!! Del Toro is a real genius!
Me to 🥰 i've a thing for women's feet wearing pumps/high heels (black and closed) and i love it, to see Elisa's tap dancing around with her heel feet 😍😗😚
I just realised when the bus is dropping Elisa off at work, the resting rumble of it sounds somewhat like the creature when he purrs at her, maybe foreshadowing his arrival into her life :)
Wow has to be one of the best opening scenes ever! I'm captivated.. never seen the film but will soon... she is such a clever and thoughtful person. That painter kind of just said the lines like he was reading a instruction Manuel ha.. but that theatre manager was awesome... "Come on two S's!!!' ha. Such a brilliant look to it.. love the tones and colours and the whole flow to the film, angles and movement from room to room to the bus.. amazing. Purely amazing. now the Film has a lot to live up to . ha but I'm sure I'm gonna like it. thanks for up loading.
Watch this for the first time last night I had to admit this opening scene caught me off guard a little bit. But it is a rated R movie, so anything goes. But all in all beautiful film.
So I haven't gotten a chance to watch the movie yet but in a video essay someone showed a scene of Michael Shannon breaking his fingers off. I typed in Shape of Water finger scene and this was one of the first results. Judging by the comments there seems to be a reason why.
That because it’s filmed in Canada. Normally for Hollywood, Canada is the cheapest place to film a movie and it allows directors to save their money for the visuals of their films.
I think is because she works a night shift so she probably just took a nap before going to work, and if she would have slept on the bed she could sleep through the night because is more comfortable 😅
I am sure some of you might tried this....started your morning routine by listening to this amazing background score of this movie.. huge shout out to the music composer Alexander Desplate.. and Sally you should won Oscar for this performance... I dono why so much hatred and comments, about monster falls in love with a human or vice versa... At the end, it's all just LOVE....
This to me was both a fascinating yet tasteless film. A totally weird movie. I think it would’ve been better if they left out the nudity and sexual content. It was unnecessary.

You actively sought it out solely to criticise it, or at least to share your distaste? Why? Did you really dislike it that passionately? Sorry to badger, I just never understand comments like these.
@@callumdoherty7204 I’m not a big fan of romance and drama movies I mean the only films that I liked was the twilight movie saga and I didn’t like the shape of water because how can a fish love a human and it was just boring
You obviously entitled to feel however you want about the film. I can’t really weigh in on its quality, I only saw it half-asleep on a plane. I’m more curious as to why you actively sought out clips from the film to comment your thoughts. You made an effort to find the clip, knowing you didn’t like the film, just so you could share your dislike of it?

Just a sweet guy having a good time
What catches my attention is that there is only one piece of cake alone. maybe he celebrated himself and had no one
The colors and the iconic ambience of the early 60s in our minds.
Sally Hawkins kills it in this movie and she doesn't say a single word.
Well she does sing briefly
She says many words, just not by talking.
I like how they use, not a super model but just a nice plain lady. It’s nice to see that they use just natural
Makes it more real, and I love that
Umm what super model would they use though? They just used an actress that's all
@@talyaw6637 she means an ‘attractive ‘ looking actress on screen. Let’s not play dumb here Hollywood is notorious casting hot actors on screen.

I thought the movie was overrated and very agenda - ridden to flatter the neo-marxist academy.

Definitely a censored version. I've seen it twice and she gets freaky in the bathtub.
yup just downloaded the movie..
had to skip that scene tho

At 0:53 and at 2:35, movie clips from "The Story of Ruth" (1960) and "The Little Colonel" (1935), courtesy of 20th Century-Fox.
Close. It’s actually “The Littlest Rebel” from 1935. Same year, because the studio had Shirley Temple turning out movies as fast as they could.
I want to live in this building so badly
Trying to watch this while reading the screenplay tripped me up because a pretty big part is cut lol
