The major problem is that the newly modeled rooms are so lack furniture, making the rooms look very empty, which makes it like a larger size of Hampton inn.
It's just so bland. very few cute touches. Dreary color scheme. And enough with the beige/gray floors! There are ways you can evoke a Turn-of-the-century seaside feel without it be boring or going to the other extreme and being overly kitschy.
This Motel 6 is looking pretty good right now, so when are they going to actually put matching furniture in there this looks like some small little independent owned hotel that is doing room by room and yeah just horrible looking not what I expected for a Disney hotel
WTF kind of room is this??!!! Theming is non existent, it's way too simple, way too plain. Point blank, it doesn't have that unique Disney charm that the resorts USED to be known for. Art of Animation will always be the best themed resort on property. It still has the whimsical theming that says you're in a Disney hotel room. Anyway, cool tour as always Tom. The room just isn't for me, just my opinion. LOL
Tom...are you feeling OK? I agree with you on a lot of things, but your fondness for this new style of Boardwalk room made me run the video back twice to make sure I didn't misunderstand something. With the exception of 2 pieces of wall art, Disney has once again hosed the place down with Boring. There's nothing Boardwalk-y about this room. It's like they combined some Grand Floridian leftovers with Ikea overstock. Mix in some depressed earth tones, and it's another win for Disney's new theming of Grayboxification.
Disagree WDWN. It was a million years ago, in the 90s, but I remember the room, we stayed in being delightful. I'm a turn of the century Atlantic City fan, and I felt it was perfectly themed.
Wow, no table and chair(s) if you want to eat in the room, or you just want to sit on a chair. What if you order room service or want to eat your breakfast in the room?
One thing that I don’t understand is not included in the deluxe resorts is a simple small table and couple of chairs like they have at all the moderates. A small simple place to eat in your room if you want to. It’s even more apparent in this room with how much space there is.
The room is also lacking a microwave and washer-dryer. And this is a deluxe?? My home resort is Wilderness Lodge and they at least have a microwave in their studio.
In this very room, they used to have a desk and chair with a roll-out table underneath for room service/takeout. It was to the right of the slider. Such a downgrade.
The minimalist, furniture store aesthetic is really what I love about Disney. Nothing says "get the f**k out of your room" like this room. The picture of the hotel photoshopped with the poster edges filter and the characters stamped on top really pulls it together. Thank goodness we have real, soulful art like this and not AI-generated images.
Thanks Tom for the critique. Can’t think of anything, but looks like any typical 2nd rate motel room. Glad I don’t have to pay their exuberant price for this. I’d stay outside somewhere and get the same quality at half the price, and I’m a longtime disney fan. The bath looks terrible (not even a hand held shower, or hand bar for older people) and the unit housing the safe, etc reminds me of something you’d see in a hospital room. Just my opinion, very disapointing like all the other refurbs they’re doing CHEAP👎
We’re DVC members and the Boardwalk is our home resort. We’re patiently waiting the villa refurb. Hopefully they’ll have a little more color, warmth, and storage than the inn side. They need to take a lesson from the value resorts. Pop Century rooms offer a lot in a little space. Especially the redesign of the bathrooms. 🤞🏼that the villas will be amazing!
I have to assume that the Villas will be very much like this. I applaud the removal of the carpets--both for allergy and bedbug reasons. I honestly feel that these rooms still manage to retain a lot of the vibe and charm of this hotel... I hope the villa rooms follow suit.
Much better now! But it bugs me that the two pieces of art work aren’t centered above the couch! Should move the sofa down and put the lamp on the other side of it.
Another Marriot style room with basic things thrown in. Where's the desk or work/extra table with chair? Maybe even an ottoman or something! The room is now loud and echos because you remove carpet and that's what happens, nothing to absorb the sounds. That bathroom was pathetic. It could've been anywhere. The beds are Motel 6 style with a headboard thrown it. So, their big design "flair" is 3 pictures a lampshade and a couple of rehashed pictures, wow, what an effort! This isn't worth the money that they're charging. This isn't Disney theming. If this is "better" then that's horrible.
I would never pay $700 a night for a room at a ride side hotel. So I would never pay that much for this room! They are taking the whole reason you pay the extra for a Disney room (Disney). Would never stay here! Keep it up Disney and there will be no reason to stay on property!
It’s the boardwalk!!! Why so bland The inside doesn’t match the outside. Where are the classic boardwalk colors?? You can still update and remain to the colors.
Where was the foresight to make this an accessible room?!? This would have been perfect… really disappointed Disney didn’t see the opportunity of this space for those who could truly need it and maximize its use.
They should have turned this room into a 6th sleeper with a queen sized pull down bed and couch like at Saratoga. Such a missed opportunity to do something special with this room and keep the wall set but move it somewhere else in the room
Because of health issues, this room is almost perfect. I'm allergic to carpeting and have an electric chair. So it looks like it has plenty of room to park and charge the chair. If they had installed a handicapped shower and an automatic door, it would be perfect. It would be nice if both pictures were centered over the sofa!
Good point to this odd size room. If you have a EVC, you can easily drive in and out without bumping into things. You won't be tripping over the EVC when you park it to charge. Nice. Still need a table and chairs to eat at. Sorry but deluxe hotels should have a microwave. Wish you would have shown the view.
Hilton and Marriott looks much nicer than this. They are at least modern with their hardware. This looks old and rushed. That bathroom is terrible. The mirror alone.
This room looks so odd. The sofa faces a blank wall with no view of the tv. No desk or table, and the pictures aren't centered. Maybe its because of the odd shaped room.
I don't know who was being this remodel and the design but my 8 yr old granddaughter could have done better. There is no rhyme or reason for the colors, totally don't go together. Then use an old coffee stand that doesn't even come close to matching the other new furniture. It's just in a horrible place also. I've done a few tile jobs in my time and would never have chosen that design in the shower. Your suppose to use accents in tile, this is not an accent. I would NEVER pay the amount of money to stay in a room that looks like this. One positive is I do like the pictures but they all match in style. I would rather stay at all stars then spend the +700 for this room. Sad is I see Disney going downhill lately, with something as simple as a room remodel. If it was drab before, don't know what you would call this....
LOL! I was literally staying in this room when this video came out. My room was configured slightly different. The closet was in the entry hallway with the fridge and Keurig in an attached built in. this is supposedly a deluxe resort ROFL. What's the point of staying on site if they strip away all the theming and perks?? I guess the damage to your wallet is deluxe.
We’ve stayed in this room before and I’m very disappointed to see that it’s no longer a handicapped room. All that “dead” space gets filled up quickly when you have a wheelchair, ecv or other medical equipment. Also, the shower used to be a roll-in shower, which is why there’s so much dead space in there. Beyond that, the design is very watered down and generic. This is my favorite resort and I’m so bummed.
This is one of my home resorts and I have to say that I am disappointed. It's so cold and uninviting. At least there are a few Disney related items in the drapes, but all in all it looks like a low end hotel room anywhere in the United States. I know the convertible sofa is really an effort to disguise a single bed, but it would really be nice if it was located so that you could sit on it when you wanted to watch TV. The Grand Floridian has the same issue. Maybe they could add an area rug that would soften the look and absorb some of the sound. Some of these rooms used to have a desk or a chair with an ottoman. I miss those too.
I prefer the "beachy" touches of the old rooms (e.g. the lifeguard lamp). This design is too sterile for me. I like that it is crisp and clean, but it doesn't feel like what a Boardwalk room should feel like to me. I'm not a fan of tile (my feet are already cold enough), and would miss the warmth of a carpet/rug. I noticed a couple of design flaws, possibly because of the floor plan. They really should not have the clean towels stored above the toilet (to get contaminated if you flush without closing the lid), and why are there no places for towels near the shower/tub? There's a hook, but that's for your robe. Also, placing the coffee maker next to the thermostat will wreak havoc with the room temperature. I would be OK staying in this room, but I would definitely be providing a lot of comments if they sent me a survey about it.
This room because of its shape, is not a good representation of the remodel. In the other rooms there is a nice cabinet built in with mirrors, a coffee station with chiller and a Mickey Minnie themed backsplash mural, and a side chair.
Has Disney run out of money & they cannot furnish the rooms? Center the couch under the artwork, put in a coffee table, add a chair by the window. This room looks incomplete. Very disappointed.
So drab and boring. Aside from the curtains and a couple of pieces of art, no theming whatsoever. Will never pay the money to stay here. Hopefully the DVC side is better.
Still waiting to see how badly they are ruining the Grand Floridian Lobby. This room looks like they went to a thrift store for furniture and ran out of money to finish decorating the walls. The TV way at the end of the wall with the 2 pictures way at the other end of the wall that will be blocked when the lamp is moved to where it should be sitting and nothing over the sofa. Horrible but typical. I would be renting one of the amazingly themed houses near Disney. I would never stay here.
Could have easily been made into an ADA room with a walk in shower with bench. So much room, 5 people with wheelchairs could fit . But no. And no mention of it. Like we don’t even exist. 😢
Wow… this is incredibly boring. I’m not able to pretend this is a nice Disney room. They can’t save the room with three pictures, which are great, but come on…. This looks no better than any other hotel chain’s rooms. Meh.
I always like a detailed video for the rooms, but this room is so underwhelming that you can get wvwrything in a 45 second tour. Nothing against you, but the room screams "nothing to see here!"
Wow, I'm sad to say these rooms are very underwhelming. The recent refurbishments in the other WDW resorts have been beautiful but this one is quite dull & lacks the Disney charm.
There is no Disney in this room… I would never ( and never have) pay the extra huuuuuuge amount for that to be on property… Disney Springs hotels give you the same vibe… for less
I swear I have been to a Comfort Inn that by far exceeded the way this thing looks. I have never seen a more dull, drab, colorless, plain Jane room than this one. Gray floors no area rugs, yellow or beige walls, modern dressers with Victorian-ish drab drapes and art. Huge expanse of walls with no art. Wow! What a piece of crap! I hate this room!
Dreary. Colors are unpleasant with that lighting. Looks like a half-realized, unbalanced student design project. Why stay on property at Disney anymore? People stay elsewhere because it's cheaper, not because elsewhere is generic like this.
Boardwalk use to be my favorite. This is depressing. Yeah pictures are cute but no personality. Mght as well stay at the Marriott and bring some Mickey pictures to put up.
Except proximity to Epcot and the rest of the hotel itself, the rooms would NOT have me anxious to book. BORING! There is nothing i like about it. Not the colour of the walls or floors, not the accessories, and there is too much negative space in this room.
Disney rooms used to just feel like “comfort food”, just take you back and feel reassuring…..this looks like I’m on a business trip to Dayton, OH.
The major problem is that the newly modeled rooms are so lack furniture, making the rooms look very empty, which makes it like a larger size of Hampton inn.
Yeah, but you can’t walk to Epcot from Dayton.

BOR-RING. You would never know you’re at a Disney resort hotel.
This de-theming seems to be the new trend sadly, all of these top tier resorts are losing their individuality.
That room is a snooze with a ton of wasted space. Don't even want to know the price.
This looks so sparse like they ran out of money. The floors look nice. I won’t pay $600 a night. Thank you, Tom.
“The Swan is cheaper, but there’s no Disney Theming!“. Now, the Swolphin rooms have the most character in WDW. How the tables turn!
Plus less screaming kids at night
Yep, found my new resort. Just have to fight through all the cheerleader competitions!
The recent refurbishments just suck the soul out of the hotel rooms. The old rooms looked warm and inviting and todays room's look cold and bland.

There should be 3 paintings centered over the sofa. The 2 paintings, which are super cute look out of place.

At least the hidden hidden Mickey lamp is creative.
It’s pretty but I wish there was more theming and the 5th sleeper was themed like in the dvc villa side

People stay elsewhere because it's cheaper, not because elsewhere is generic like this.
Boardwalk use to be my favorite. This is depressing. Yeah pictures are cute but no personality. Mght as well stay at the Marriott and bring some Mickey pictures to put up.
This looks terrible
Never store your stuff under hotel beds....
Except proximity to Epcot and the rest of the hotel itself, the rooms would NOT have me anxious to book. BORING! There is nothing i like about it. Not the colour of the walls or floors, not the accessories, and there is too much negative space in this room.
Bri'ish
Room looks horrible
What a dud of a room.
