We don't know much about the protagonist, but I feel really bad for him because he seems like a good kid. He goes over to help his elderly neighbor, leaves a note to his mom before he goes, and even finishes his homework. He really didn't deserve anything that happened to him. Also, while I'm not a fan of jumpscares, I like the use of jumpscares here. It's really effective.
to be fair... he did try to force an old man out of his routine and also strapped and old woman down on the bed for 3 days. One would think that if he had major concerns he would have gotten a professional caretaker to help or guide. Honestly thought this game was going to be about elderly abuse at first, though I do still enjoy the game
Best part of the game is right after you turn off the T.V, and she's still just standing there in the dark, and you can hear her shuffling around behind you while you work on the fuze box. Made me EXTREMELY tense and on edge

This was actually a pretty scary game to watch. I usually don't get scared of horror games if I'm watching someone else play them (now _playing them myself_ is a whole other matter, because I'm a huge wimp), but there was something about the lighting and colouring of the house that made me feel really uncomfortable and tensed while watching. And twitchy ghosts/monsters are always creepy to me. :'D
Same! Mrs. Gallagher's weird and erratic movements remind me of the viewers from Little Nightmares 2. Characters like that always scare the hell out of me in games.

Completely agree, I do like getting scared with the UA-camr, but it's sometimes hard to find balance between game play and being creeped out. That's true Lovecraftian horror right there: nothing really makes sense, including the monsters; all of the clues add up to a tale that is still incomplete; everyone is a victim, including the monsters; in the end the protagonist escapes from immediate death but finds no peace and either goes mad or commits suicide.
I was thinking. If she was in this state who called this guy for help her with the tv? It seemed that the protagonist met her before this insident as he knew she won't be able to do it herself. Thee is also the ''why a demigod wants her tv fixed''? Then I thought that maybe it was related to the past, present and future existing at the same time, her normal version still exists inside that house and is the one who asked for help with the TV and maybe even interacted with the protagonist at some point. It's the reason we see her glitching, I believe that indeed the ''monster'' or what she was before becoming it is suffering because it coexists with this version of herself.

the sound design of this game is so effective ! The sound of her footsteps before the jumpscare is TERRIFYING, I get easily panicked when I hear it and look away before I even notice she was actually bent backwards and crawling fastly towards you rather than running
Nothing spectacular here, but I got genuinely scared a fair bit here and there so I can't complain. The text in between deaths also having a somewhat mocking tone also help this game stand out to me.

I've been in houses like this and they do get a yellow haze from low amp bulbs and heavy fabric rooms with dark colour schemes and busy carpets , that old gas fire in this game looks spot on too usually an older person's house .
it looks like that inside because of aurora borealis, at that time of year, at that time of day, at that part of the country, localized entirely within Gallagher's house
Lovecraftian is not the word you serch here, it's cosmic horror. Lovecraft was one of the most prominent writers at it, of course, but what you said here if pure cosmic horror. When the mind of a human is confronted to realities so VAST and unkowable that it shatters or makes the human decide to take his/her life.
Really like how this one continually makes the player feel like even though they were invited into the house, the atmosphere just screams “you are unwelcome in this place.”

I enjoyed her fast bent-over crawl, the TV bit, and the weirdness of it all. Idk why you needed the amphetamines bc there was no escaping her. And the Morse Code should have revealed more - when you have to go to some effort outside of the game boundaries to translate, there needs to be a better reward. I did like the game tho - it was nicely freaky.

I really like most things about this game, but I have no idea why the developer thought it was a good idea to make the death animation consist of almost ten seconds of staring at the monster. It really desensitizes you to her.

The obsession with tvs, mrs.gallaghers design (the elongated "face" reminds me of the viewers, and the character you play is a child. I saw some silent hill influence in that lock puzzle. Where you had to read something and piece it togeather. That was really great. I wish the jumpscare wouldn't linger on the model too much it just looks weird.
This was legit terrifying, i didn't expect him to kill himself after escaping but it makes sense in a creepy way, if you actually went through something like that it would be hell getting it out of your head and nobody in their right mind would ever believe you.
Ok game. You got me, haven't had a game get me since vampire bloodlines haunted hotel level. Jesus that was awful. It stopped being scary though since it's the same jump scare and her chin looks so pointy it's like her head fell off.
Honestly, if your game only has ONE basic jumpscare, it shouldn't look so glitchy. You shouldn't be taken out of the "Scare" part literally halfway through the first one, thinking "Wait a minute, what even is that? Are we literally just clipping through her whole head?"

I honestly don’t get scared with jump scares, for some reason they just aren’t effective with me. But 8:05 got my heart to do a dive into the pit of my stomach.

I really like most things about this game, but I have no idea why the developer thought it was a good idea to make the death animation consist of almost ten seconds of staring at the monster. It really desensitizes you to her.

If there wasn't all this cu!t shit I could connect this game to little nightmares (the second one). The obsession with tvs, mrs.gallaghers design (the elongated "face" reminds me of the viewers, and the character you play is a child. The man who was playing stuff on channel 3 could have been an early version of the thin man ig. ngl this was a delightfully terrifying watch, the crab walk got me bad lol.

The crawling is the only thing that creeps me the hell out, I’m pretty conditioned when it comes to horror games and movies, but crawling stuff always scared me I can’t get behind why

I saw some silent hill influence in that lock puzzle. Where you had to read something and piece it togeather. That was really great. I wish the jumpscare wouldn't linger on the model too much it just looks weird.
At 2:24 he didn't even notice her over the light. Like holy shit that was scary and he completely missed it!
This was legit terrifying, i didn't expect him to kill himself after escaping but it makes sense in a creepy way, if you actually went through something like that it would be hell getting it out of your head and nobody in their right mind would ever believe you.

Honestly, if your game only has ONE basic jumpscare, it shouldn't look so glitchy. You shouldn't be taken out of the "Scare" part literally halfway through the first one, thinking "Wait a minute, what even is that? Are we literally just clipping through her whole head?"
When that thing comes after you I get goose bumps, scared the hell out of me the first and second time

I love this game, I think the only thing I’d change is the jump scare screen, the angle is janky, but I love the atmosphere of it all.
Normally I don’t get scared by horror games, but this here had me pulling a liquid shart
