I’m surprised they didn’t send you the expansion or the co-op version, to their credit I think they recognized a lot of people complaining about the end-game scenarios and made some really positive changes to allow the game to end alongside each story.
It does include a card that has the sole purpose of criticizing you for reading it. Since it's choose your own adventure, there are cards you may never see.
I really recommend the two expansions as they fix the vast majority of problems with the base game, straight up overhauling the agenda system, allowing the game to actually end at the end of the main quest instead of randomly somewhere in the middle
They made an expansion for this game that turned it into a co-op, which to me completely saved it. All the great mechanics, but with a "victory condition" that actually made sense!
Adding a house rule to fix the endgame dramatically increases the enjoyment of the game. The expansions also add quite a bit of content to be enjoyed as well. The game features a solo mode for those who enjoy that(also needs a little balancing with house rules) and one of the expansions contains Co-op variants of all the scenarios for when you wanna work together with your friends.
Just so people don't get confused, there's this, and Fallout: Wasteland Warfare a Tabletop Wargame made by Modiphius. Plays *very* differently from this one. It gets hard to keep track, TES has a Wargame, an upcoming Adventure Game for Skyrim, and then ANOTHER Adventure Game for TESO.
The worst thing in this game is the fact that progress in stories is not connected to player. At 2 players it's not that noticable but with 3 or god forbid 4 players its agonizing. For example ( not a spoiler but a representation of the mechanics ) you find a man being attacked in the wasteland do test, you did it suffer 2 wounds get and item add card X. Then another player goes and draws the card X and it goes something like this "Oh thank you for helping me here have an even bigger reward for absolutley fucking nothing". So yeah with 4 players you will start some chain someone else will finish it while you get a middle part of something someone else did.
I've played this game and its expansion a bunch with my friends and we almost always use house rules for victory conditions, because yeah I completely agree- winning can be just totally underwhelming. The expansion has a fun co-op mode, though, and it's fantastic to play imo
I cannot recommend the Atomic Bonds expansion enough. It fixes the issues with the victory points and endgame, as well as adds more scenarios and solo/coop mode.
Every time he refers to the Special Stats by their letter instead of their actual name (Strength, Perception, et al.) I go a little bit more insane EDIT: Yeah, this review pretty much echoed how I felt the one time I got to play this game. Really cool systems and mechanics, cool story progression, but the victory conditions are absolute mood killers. The core mechanics of the game feels like it's trying to evoke TTRPG gameplay, yet the influence / power track progression systems seem to make it feel like some sort of race instead.
Sounds like you really need to play Sleeping Gods. A massive, imaginative world explorer with great narrative writing and superb art. The base game has a myriad of content to quell the appetite of even the most ravenous adventurer. Great video!
Love the video, but the one thing I think should be mention is the shelf life. Even though you change the main story, some of the side quests can getvery repetitive very quickly, and thats a big part of the charm of the game.
Thanks for making this video. I’ve been on the fence about this & the Skyrim board game (I’ve bought it on every other platform, why not tabletop at this point?)
I actually played this game last week so i was surprised at the review. Small world!. I have 2 major gripes with this game. The first was already leveled out in the video. The influence system is not fun. The second and this might just be a personal issue but the game has a ton of mechanics that do not complement eachother and bog the experience down for me. Set up took us 45 mins. There are 8 decks to keep track of in the start of the game which is annoying. The tile flipping mechanic and level up system are the only two things i would.say genuinely make the game fun to play. But the game expects you to keep track of too many things all at once. And by the end of the game players kind of just aimlessly walk around the same 2 or 3 tiles to complete their personal objectives or to keep getting encounter cards. And the lack of fun dynamic gameplay really calls into question the necessity of all these seperate decks that all do different things and all have their own special rules you need to reference. I will not be playing this game again. I can't say i had a bad time. It wasn't awful. But it was not worth the set up and clean up
My thoughts exactly! I thought this was a great game, but its bogged down by all the end condition stuff. I'm wanting to eventually make up a house rule (or rules) to make it much more enjoyable
Kind of seems a bit reminiscent of Arkham Horror in a way, with the scenario cards and the preset board per scenario.. which I imagine would make it hard to get into, but could still be fun.
So considering you enjoyed the Stardew valley Board Game. Am I just 2 stupid or have you not done a review of it? Because if not, I would really…REALLY love one

Is it worth getting the game if you also get the expansion? Would you say it properly fixed the flaws?
@@Hyperchicken yes. The expansion makes the game great.
If it doesn't include a myriad of glitches, it's not true to the source material.
It does include a card that has the sole purpose of criticizing you for reading it. Since it's choose your own adventure, there are cards you may never see.
The brotherhood outcast character is wearing t-60 armor on the miniature, but their card says t-45 and has an image of the t-51 armor.
Now I'm wondering how to implement "glitches" into a tabletop game.
@@datanotfoundpleasetryagain3559 somebody got a critical hit on an enemy? The players face explodes and the enemy is unharmed.
@@datanotfoundpleasetryagain3559 explore a new area? The tile doesn’t load properly and you fall from 50 ft. in the air and die immediately.

so even Bethesda boardgames come with a bunch of bugs
Those expansions better be free then lol
Having issues with our game? Just pay more

oh weird exactly like fallout 3 lol (minus the coop ofc)
I felt this game was saved with its expansions as they add Co-op. Co-op is so good Im still stunned that it wasnt in Base Game.
another settlement needs your help, I’ll mark it on your map
DAMN YOU PRESTOOOOOOOON

Adding user created content to make the game enjoyable? This is truly a Bethesda game.
This game needs the Atomic Bonds expansion. Turning it from competitive to cooperative fixes so many things with it.

The Atomic Bonds expansion turned this from an ok game to a good game for me.

Yeah, competitiveness doesn’t work well with that system. Luckily the expansions put you on the same team so it works out a lot better
Never play the base game at any count other than 1 or 2 players.

This is surely the greatest board game featuring Mentats since ep #139.
I 100% agree with you on all counts here. The end game can really sour the experience, which is a shame because the rest of the game is really solid.
postapocalyptic board game with hexagons, reminded me of Neuroshima Hex. Pretty fun.
Love the video, but the one thing I think should be mention is the shelf life. Even though you change the main story, some of the side quests can getvery repetitive very quickly, and thats a big part of the charm of the game.
Back in my day, fallout was a videogame and we took turns playing it while we cooked ramen with a microwave
I’ve been eyeballing this one in particular.
Seems like despite some issues, you can still have fun with this game.
...just like any Bethesda release, I guess.
Wow someone covering this. I bought this game a while back and never understood it enough to play
This is a lot. It reminds me of when SpongeBob and Patrick tried to teach Mr. Krabs how to play DnD
I beta tested this board game, and several others by FFG.
YESSSS I WAS WAITING FOR YOU TO REVIEW THIS!!!
House rules are required if you don't use the expansions - which are great when all played together
Review the Skyrim board game, when it comes out
Reading the comments lets me know this truly is a Bethesda game
You mention the stardew valley board game, I'd love to see a review of that as well!
Thanks for making this video. I’ve been on the fence about this & the Skyrim board game (I’ve bought it on every other platform, why not tabletop at this point?)
This was super helpful, I have been curious about this game.

This would’ve been a way better game if they incorporated an app into the game

I mean, it's from the same studio
Day 68 of asking ProZD to review 1830 Railways and Robber Barons!
The Coop mode introduced in the 2nd expansion is soo much better. The core game feels like it should be coop but isn't 😅
The expansion fixes everything.
i bought it on clearance but couldn’t understand it
Can you review the card game "One Deck Dungeon"?
surprising this board game has no glitches........
This is so good
Check out Rumbleslam. Sleeper great game.
I bought this a few years ago I really love that game.
The game feels completed when you get the new california pack. Otherwise it feels a bit boring
I’ve never been this early nice videos man
Fallout Shelter was a much better board game, I found.
I feel like with this many moving pieces to a game, i'd rather just play the video game that would keep track of it all for me :/
Why are they’re only 215 likes there’s like 3mil subbed to you?
hey are you going to make the poop dragon game?
So considering you enjoyed the Stardew valley Board Game. Am I just 2 stupid or have you not done a review of it? Because if not, I would really…REALLY love one
What is the background music? I know it but I just can’t place it
I'm pretty sure it's Animal Crossing New Leaf. Not sure which time it is though.
Let’s go
Never been this early in my life
And I love you Sungwon
Bethesda trying to recover from the SUSD review
lessss gooooo!!!! 3rd place😱😱😱
Although you have no expertise in the subject it's clear to me that you should branch out into geopolitics and start ranking countries.
Ngl this does not look fun
prozd i love you man but trim the fingernails
