Fantastic. Thank you! Her son, Adam said she liked to laugh and one sees that in the comic roles. We also catch a glimpse of the goings on around Noel Coward 's piano of an evening. What fun!
I’ve heard her say that she wished she’d had the opportunity to do more comedy. She’s fabulous here, and everywhere else I’ve seen her in a comedic role. La Stupenda!
She sounds incredible for 1983. Wow. I heard her many times around this time and she had great days and not so great days but she was closing in on 60. It was to be expected. Considering others lost their voices at the age of Sutherland's Met debut, she was a miracle.
Perfección!! Perfección!!! Perfección!!!
BRAVA !!!
Ah LA STUPENDA!!!!

There’s just never been anyone like her! She had the charm that captivated her audiences as well as the magnificent voice.

Agreed!!
Indeed. A natural
I was at the Met for Joans 1983 Fille. Spectacular and memorable!
Imposible escuchar y ver a Sutherland sin emocionarse; y agradecer a esta ARTISTA MARAVILLOSA su aporte estelar al mundo de la ópera.
Amazing. So playfull. I love it that she's not afraid of being clownesque. Wasn't Kraus the Tonio of this performance?
Yes he was 😁

I loved it, even with that change of tonality in Salut à la France's da capo... Top quality singing 🙏🏻
Che grande Artista
Wonderful...thank you so much for the post!
