Zack Ryder - Wrestlers Voted Him.
It was apparently made clear to the people in that ladder match, that Miz was going to win on the Raw the night after, so they could choose who got the win and decided Zack deserved a moment. Which I think is really nice from the others in the match.
How much of a moment is it when you lose it the next night, though?
@@dokuganryu1565 considering he got into the match by telling Road Dogg he’s never heard his music at WrestleMania. The fact he was in the match was enough of a moment for him, never mind winning.
@@dokuganryu1565maybe in the immediate aftermath it didn’t do much but it did give him a nice moment for people to look back on. In terms of what wrestling fans remember, no one cares who wins on the night after mania, most people will only talk about mania itself after a few years.
@@dokuganryu1565 Mania moment is a mania moment
That peg bit, fantastic
How many takes to do it with a straight face?
BASICALLY GUNTHER WON THE IC BELT FROM BRET HART
Randy Savage held it for over a year. It was Ricky Steamboat who had it for 65 days only.
Yup, Vince got PO'd because he wanted to be there for the birth of his kid.
Seth’s “Monday Night Rollins” run in 2018 was his best run
@Surv1over1993. NOPE, his 2015 WWE title run, is Seth Rollins’s best work in WWE.
@@NuMetalfan1996 What makes you say that? To me both the stories and his work was much better in the 2018 IC title run.
21:41 Surprised nobody went with "Honk-A-Meter" for the three words. It was a dumb gimmick, but I low-key loved it whenever Santino said "The Honky-Tonka-Man was champion for 64 weeks."
Put up the Honk-A-Meter!
Honka-perfect-mountie meter
He should have gotten way, way closer to it just for that gimmick alone. Was a great feature and they only let him keep it for about 9 weeks.
The Randy Savage disrespect of this channel is getting out of control. First, The cream of the crop promo isn't even mentioned in the 10 best promo's, but Eddie Kingston and Scott steiner are.
Secondly, no mention of Savage in the top 10 best WWE champions, not even a honorable mention.
Thirdly, They can't even remember his title reigns right. Savage held the IC title for 454 days and it is truly the run that made the IC title, the workhorse title. Ricky Steamboat held the belt for 65 days, not Savage. Put some respect on the Macho Man's name!
get hired by them so there can be a "math > cream" / "cream > math" feud
I was just playing a quiz on sporcle about naming every intercontinental champion in reverse chronological order about an hour ago and now I got the notification of this video. What a coincidence.
I feel like Oli needs to lose his citizenship for forgetting the bulldog win lol
Oli sold his British Citizenship to become a permanent AEW mark.
(I mean not really, but ...)
Savage definitely had the belt way longer than 65 days. He won it in February of 1986 and lost it March 29, 1987.
17:24 I don’t want to be pedantic, but Savage actually held the belt for over 400 days
Yeah I don’t know what they were smoking
Stop being pedantic
They had a number of facts wrong, but they had a bunch of stuff I didn’t know, so I give them a pass.
But they completely mucked up what happened at elimination chamber IC match.
Savage had it for 414 days. It was Ricky Steamboat that had it for 65 days.
2:55 that IS the best thing Cody has done! Also in one of his promos he called Big Show "reverse undertaker" which still pops me today
Undashing Cody was a menace; and then he turned serious after the dropped the mask and started weating the White outfit
Savage had the IC belt for over 400 days, not 65. Steamboat held it for 65.
Its pretty brutal how much they hot potatoed the thing as soon as the Attitude Era started
These videos are the best. Luke talking about Albert's push getting killed by Invasion is the kind of detail you can't find anywhere. People have no memory that they were trying to push the awful X-Factor group
Luke's Val Venus impersonation sounds like vegeta
Razor Ramon actually gave the belt to the kid on an tv episode of Jerry Springer and not a radio show. R.I.P. Scott Hall and Springer!
The razor Ramon thing I thought was on the Jerry Springer show, not a radio show
Absolutely love watching you guys ! Making my Sunday night better. Love TLC and 3 Count especially! Bring more Sullivan!
I had to check to make sure because CM Punk becoming the fastest triple crown winner didn't makes sense when I knew Diesel did it in the same year. It is true. CM Punk became a triple crown winner in 209 days. Diesel in 220 days. Diesel did it in the same year while CM Punk did it over two years. Kurt Angle is also close with 229 days and also did the triple crown in the same year. Fun stuff to look up.
One thing I'll always love is how you guys throw a snip of back story after every champion 👌
17:25 Randy Savage held the Intercontinental Championship for 400+ days, didn't he? Is it Steamboat Luke's thinking of here?
You are correct
Luke: Pegged from the start.
Oli: OH MY!!!
Brian Zane from Wrestling With Wregret even asked Bruce Prichard why they swapped Billy Gunn and Road Dogg going into Wrestlemania and Bruce literally had no idea why they did it
The Jeff hardy intercontinental runs were the best for me, especially the feuds with Umaga they were great times for the belt imo
Yeah also his feud with John Morrison
Haven’t even watched the full video and I already know the disrespect to miz will be crazy
He had way too many reigns, and the majority of them were wholly unremarkable
Luke, the IC belt was only deactivated for 7 months. That’s hardly a break between “eras”.
the peg part of this video got me dying from laughter
9:00 for a second, my dumb brain thought he meant that The Fink had more reigns than Eddie did... 😂
This was extremely insightful. Learned a bunch of facts and trivia. Thanks for the research guys!
I love how Luke didn't get the peg joke which made it even funnier🤣🤣🤣
He played along!
I don't know how you listen to what he's saying and watch his hand motions there and think he's not aware of what he's doing lmao
17:49
That genuinely feels like something Tempest would do 😂
413 days. Defeated Tito Santana in the Boston Garden, Danny Davis officiating. Feuded with George "the Animal" Steele for like forever. Elizabeth was even kidnapped and they even had a "winner gets Elizabeth" match. In the words of Jesse the Body, Savage was "a champion's champion, took on all comers, ducked no one." Finally lost the title in the greatest match of all time to a true baby face hero, Ricky Steamboat. The following year, Savage eclipses Hogan to become the face of the franchise, albeit briefly. The real greatest IC champion of all time, until Gunther.
It would be tempting to describe Macho as the first "workhorse champion", but I would argue Tito Santana, Greg Valentine, Don Muraco, Pedro Morales, these guys all the worked their asses off on a punishing schedule of house shows, defending the titles almost nightly in high calibre matches that were usually the highlight of the undercard.
5 in the morning on the west coast.
Cheers to all the lovely people who make WrestleTalk happen!! Thank you!
Matt Hardy was the Drew IC title tournament winner - I remember everyone I knew thought they were going to have Hardy vs McIntyre in a ladder match for the belt.
It was right before Matt started doing his UA-cam run before going to TNA as a heel with Jeff
These three are always great together, seriously amazing chemistry 😂🔥👑
The fact oli had just heard the Goldust Story is brilliant
I remember hearing that going well thats one way to learn a new word 😅
Woah.. 15 minutes ago, last time I was this early to a WT video, Veer was heading to Raw
You mean coming to RAW 😂
Excuse me CM Punk was already a triple crown champion as he had the ECW title, World heavyweight championship, and tag titles.
Randy Savage held the belt from 2/86 - 3/87. Over 400 days. And he had an incredible all timer run that led to him being instantly transitioned to the babyface top babyface with Hogan. He gets so forgotten about in these videos and lists. He was better than Hart and Perfect and maybe even Gunther
Rusev was the one replaced by Mark Henry so combine that with his Chamber door, no wonder we got "MARK, STAY THERE!!"
The Nigerian Drum Fight...that had no drums...still sad about that. 🥺
3 words or less is the best show wrestletalk has ever
14:03 That’s 4 words Luke
TKO as an entity is not spiteful enough to slight Y2J.
How Vince never gave The Miz that extra title run, out of spite, like Randy Orton being the youngest champion, is beyond all of us.
I remember being in 6th Form when I saw Braun lost to Sami and my girlfriend at the time said i was more excited Sami won than Sami was
“Bobby, show them your favorite pose!” - Lio Rush
This one was a great video! The Intercontinental championship is and still is one of my favorite championships in WWE is to relive the great history of that title was just awesome, Gunther my not have that championship anymore but he holds the record for that championship, and Chris Jericho is still the record holder being a nine time Intercontinental champion.
25:05 Jeans Bulldog! NewLegacy would love that 😂
Luke pulling out a spot on Val Venus impression made this already funny video hilarioue
I’ve always loved the IC belt and when I got back into WWE was in 2008 when I started playing the video games a bit at a friends house. My favorite WWE game from that time of my life has too be WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2010 the Road to Wrestlemania where you beat Santino for the IC belt in your debut and then argue with Vince the next week! It was so awesome back in the day!
THE HHH PEGGED JOKE 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Really can't remember Booker having the IC title
Ricochet - Won via Knoxville !
Johnny Knoxville interfered in the title match between Sami and Ricochet, costing sami the title prior to their match at wrestlemania 38
This is the best show on wrestletalk
11:29 That really hurt, Oli. My German isn't even that good, but ouch.
Do every Speed Champion next lol
Has there been multiple already?
Nah, only one. I just think it'd be funny🤣🤣🤣
Gunther #1.
The invasion was already starting before Albert won the title though.
DO THE HARDCORE AND 24/7 TITLES IN ONE MASSIVE VIDEO lol
Curtis Axels theme is amazing
I feel like Luke wasn't getting the pegging jokes, lol.
I actually really liked the Corre, ya know before it played out
2:22 damn right that's a shake👍🤣🤣
I didn't know Scott Hall gave away the real belt to a sick kid....that's some rockstars shit right there. R.I.P To the gold hearted Bad Guy
I mean in fairness, I trust Jeff Jarrett's take on the "hold up for money/money owed" over Vinny Mac
Should have gone in order starting with Patterson. This was confusing.
24:50 Bret, I'm Fooked.
The Miz - Talking Smack Promo
Are they saying boo urns?
Even though Jericho has the record for most IC Titles. He isn't even in the top as far as top 10 IC Champions
Kane was a brilliant IC champ
So many nothing champs, but nice to be reminded there were a lot of good runs too.
Umaga's feud with Jeff Hardy over the IC title was pretty damn epic.
How did Luke still not catch on to the peg joke 💀 27:29
Gunther is best
My three words for the Miz were "One more reign!" Because he is just one away from tying the record of Jericho.
All hail the Shane Douglas chuckle, WT Extra ftw
Honestly I’m seriously shocked they haven’t had the miz break Jericho’s record yet. Cause right now Jericho has 9 title reigns and the miz currently has 8, personally I think the miz is underrated and deserves to be the one who breaks Jericho’s record.
Lio Rush and Bobby Lashley was an amazing team-up
I’ve been waiting for this video for a while, but you guys made me realize how disappointing the IC title was until Gunther! And the amount of sarcasm you guys have on some of the wrestlers, it messes with my brain.
Albert - Worst Day Ever. My first wrestling show ever attended was the night that sonfoabitch beat (my at the time favorite wrestler) Kane for my favorite title (IC) with help from someone in my least favorite wrestling company (DDP representing WCW).
RVD: Last Euro-Hardcore Champion?
Gunther fr put the ic title back on the map
Thank you, my son is in 5th grade and might have to repeat but 5th and obviously he won't listen to me when I say what you said. I almost had to repeat after summer school, I remember the left back kids and I was sooo glad that wasn't me.
I hope a combination of stuff gets to him.
Now I wanna track down the wrestling observer episode
I want Sullivan on one of these episodes.
Ahhhhhhhh the News ☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕
Randy savage held it for over a year......
Luke, add it to the list of why Matt Cardona probably won't sign with WWE anytime soon...
They supposedly took the belt off Ricky Steamboat cuz he wanted to be there for his family when his son was born. They originally wanted Butch Reed to take it off him and have him be a transitional champ for Jake Roberts, but Jake kept failing drug tests. Hogan petitioned hard to Vince to let Honky Tonk Man have the belt, thus the birth of the Honky Tonk Man reign. They wanted Ricky to have a nice good reign with the belt, but he wanted to be there for his family and once that happened he didnt seem to get another reign or meaningful feuds when he came back so he left WWE til he returned as The Dragon.
I heard a slightly different version. YKM was venting to Hulk, not knowing who was going to take it off Steamboat. Honky happened to pop in or walk by. Hogan says what about that guy so Vince went with Honky Tonk Man
Whats with using the photoshopped pictures lol. Bryan, Jericho and Orton are all shopped instead of the actual photos
If Goldust kissing Angle was unwanted (assault) then it is still not okay 😂
we still have time for don muraco to come in and beat miz. come on don. please. we need you.
The seriousness you guys kept while spamming Pegging jokes is Professionalism gold . The Usos wouldve broke #LoveWrestleTalk
A reminder that the Pipebomb was a 10-minute segment that changed absolutely nothing and only defined anything for people who want to claim that it mattered.
Steiner Math defined a wrestler, a style of promos, and an entire promotion, and did this within 2 and a half minutes. And, might I remind you that Steiner Math is still referenced to this day, in a different company. Who's bringing up the Pipebomb in 2024? Nobody, because the Pipebomb is a relic of the past. Steiner Math is eternal.
By EVERY metric possible, Steiner Math kicks the entire hell out of the Pipebomb. Thank you, for attending my TEDTalk.
Miz was supposed to win it at mania 32 but he wanted ziggler to have his moment...why it was taken the next day.
The Big Val Ownski.
What a shocker luke shits on miz 🙄
21:30 wanted the match for a higher paycheck
I think Test at least deserves another look
