Got my Chimp the other day Love the new wifi controller. Also added the pimp my Chimp kit and it looks great. Have not cooked any big meat yet but so far its working just like my Traeger Little Tex. I wanted to have a smoker that travels without having to tie it down. the folding legs make that possible. Impressed with the stainless steel parts. Much easier to clean up.
The Chimp is Champ in my eyes. I’m using mine for my first ever pellet grill. No tailgating nor travel with it...it’s staying put 😆 & is solidly built. I’m impressed and a lifelong Grilla fan👍
J.R. Williams I got 2 racks on easy with 8/10 ribs on each, what I have seen people do is cut the ribs at the start, put them on singular, I got an extra 8 ribs on. Love it, as I don’t do a lot of smoking made sense for wife & I, nothing to big. So compact, & great flavour, best investment I’ve ever made.
Is this too small for home use? Family of 4. Trying to find a well built pellet grill that's not huge and doesn't break the bank. But also don't want to get one that is too small. Thoughts?
One thing that can be improved.....the warranty should have been 4 years like your other pellet grills. It’s built well like the Silverback, so why not an equivalent warranty period? Make the warranty 4 years, please. It just makes sense.
The warranty matches the rest of the industry when it comes to travel grills. People move them and drop them, so it is not the same as the Silverbac. It was Grilla's decision and one that makes sense when you look at the rest of the industry.
What an awesome little Grill. I would definitely order one if money would allow because I could use it for camping and going over to friends and family's houses. I will get one in the future I'm sure, anyways great overview.
The chimp looks like a great product! All the build quality in a smaller size and lower price point compared to its bigger brother. I’m disappointed in the controller though... I mean I like the fact that it has the two control strategies but why not put in WiFi control while redoing the control? Huge miss in my opinion...
Because wifi has inherent issues and is the main source of complaints with all grills who have them. Also, wifi isn't typically available on your tailgate, so why drive up the cost more?
original72canuck It's better to use a separate Wifi monitor like the Thermoworks Smoke rather than build it into the grill's controller and be locked in. That way you can upgrade your Wifi system, or even decide to use a different one, without having to upgrade your grill. But like he said, who has Wifi on your tailgate, and how far away are you from your grill when you're out camping?
Pit master Shane d / stratocasterguy I don’t agree with the statement that WiFi is problematic. Plenty of other WiFi tech out there that many folks, me included have in their homes without an ounce of problems. Action cams, refrigerators, washers/dryers, printers, lights, thermostats, doorbells, security cams, garage doors, door locks, sprinkler systems just to mention a few. Can’t speak to others WiFi grills though. What a feather in the hat of grilla if they could put a WiFi controller out there that blew the others out of the water? A real nice add to a really well thought out grill lineup. I know robust enough tech exists, and believe it or not - it is not that expensive. Just hoping grilla gets to it first... not just a solution but one that is really great Also my comments were in reference to the rest of grilla lineup and other chimp users who will not be using the new controller setup for tail gating. Even so there is reasonably priced point to point WiFi tech out there that goes beyond the 30ft range that would let you go visit your buddies tailgate setup without the need to have to run back to your grill to check on things... how nice would that be? But this takes a special skill set, which grilla engineering may not yet have in their wheelhouse. I hope they take this on soon!
original72canuck: 30 ft range? Are you referring to bluetooth or Wifi? Bluetooth has a limit of 30 ft whereas 2.4 Ghz Wifi has a range of at least 150 ft. Also Wifi is an ever evolving technology, the latest standard being 802.11ax. It keeps getting updated and harder to remain backwards compatible with the older standards. From a cost affordable standpoint it makes more sense for the grill manufacturer to focus on the grill itself and let the end user choose the wireless technology that best suits their needs. I have an old wireless printer that is stuck on 802.11b that still prints great but isn't compatible with any current high speed router today. I would hate to pay for that feature on a grill only to have it eventually become obsolete. I think Grilla has made the right choice here. If you don't think so then go out and chuck your money on the Traeger Timberline 850 and all it's problems.
stratocasterguy - no thanks because I believe the the grilla base grill quality and design concept is better. Just trying to coax them into the age of IoT. Based on their story and approach to the product design I believe they are uniquely capable of delivering a robust wireless solution more than any other manufacturer.
I was leaning towards the OG, but I'm only cooking for a total of 3 (wife, kid) but this came out and I'm reconsidering. I wanted the OG because everyone says it's a Smoke Beast, but this would probably be more practical. But will I get that smoke like the OG?

Alright, I'm not taking anything away from the Chimp, but the only grass those wheels are going over with no problem is a dry putting green.

Ordered mine sunday night.. being delivered today!!!
I love my chimp, 3rd time using it. Did a great beef
Grilla's web site doesn't have the chimp in the grilling size comparison chart. How many racks of ribs would you say could fit on it?

I just bought mine yesterday, I did 2 steaks and 2 kabobs. Any more than that and the grill would be pretty crowded. Mind you the food tasted amazing.
Lid latch???????
I just ordered the baby monkey last night! Can't wait .
Oh man, I want one !!

Totally agree! Warranty is horrible.
Perfect comp chicken cooker and also great for a quick cook for the wife and I.
Love the Chimp. Need to put this style lid handle on the Silverbac and make a retrofit handle for older Silverbacs. Please?
Being worked on....unofficially of course lol.
What size whole turkey can you cook on the Chimp?
Add a rain cover tabs for smoke exhaust holes ?
Awesome looking grill! Can’t wait to see one in person

Let's talk about the battery backup that you used. I'm shopping...
What does PID stand for? I just purchased a silverback grilla grill it should be here tomorrow 😀

That's one bad ass grill
Chimp is so cool it shaved Shane during the video 😂
Can this be used without the legs as a stand alone on a glass patio table or wood picnic table, or does it get hot

A #15 hopper is awesome for a tailgater
love to have one !

DEFINITELY SMOKES AS GOOD AS THE OG! I'm more impressed every time I use it.
Thanks for quick response
Same, usually cooking for 1 but occasionally for 3
Does this grill have a ceramic igniter rod ?
No
You said "WE" a couple of times, are you part of Grilla Grills?
