Nice and informative video. Thanks for taking the time to show and explain the grill and what it is like having it for that long. I look forward to more of your videos!
can you get a magnet and see if it sticks to your SS parts (want to know if its true 304 SS) and you can use vinegar to clean SS and if your grill has held up with the obvious low maintenance on your part - speaks volume of the grills quality
Just bought mine and am awaiting the outdoor kitchen to place it on before I season it.... Smoked for a long time but never with a pellet grill..... I spent hella money especially with the kitchen for the total WOW factor. I hope I’m going to absolutely love it.
Another way to keep the inside of the grill clean is to cook directly over the top of the drip pan. I’ve found when food is overhanging the edge of the drip pan just slows down airflow also. Also I gave up on the tinfoil wrapping the pan I just want to scraping it off with a putty knife I feel it’s much easier and cheaper.
Go get yourself a bottle of La’s Totally Awesome cleaner. Cuts through grease like you wouldn’t believe. I use it on my silver back all the time. I would only use it on the outside though.
Run away from Grilla as fast as you can. My experience has been terrible, I hate this grill. Bought new grill, controller would not hold temps, would swing plus/minus 50 degrees. Changed controller, controls temps better BUT nowhere near as good as my friends ReqTec. So far on this second controller, I cannot get wifi to connect no matter what I do. I have spent hours researching and troubleshooting this grill. NOT WORTH IT, buy a ReqTec. You'd be better off buying a cheaper Pit Boss than this POS.
@@TheSteez28 I am not part of any recteq social media team. My friend has had a RT-590 for 5 years and loves it. He has made a lot of great BBQ for himself and friends over the years. I have been his house while he was smoking meat hundreds of times. His recteq controls temperatures at +/- 1 degree, and it holds temps within 5 or 6 degrees all day long. Not a single issue in all of these years. I stupidly bought my silverback because of a "sale." My silverback does NOT hold temps very well and it only adjust temps in 5 degree increments. The wifi controller will not work, I cannot get it to recognize my network even when I place my router 5 feet from the grill. Nothing but issues with the silverback. Temps will swing by 20 degrees for no reason, the company always blames the pellets you are using but I have tried 5 different pellet manufactures including grilla brand and nothing works well. I very much regret buying this thing and the price wasn't really less than a recteq RT-590. Once you buy a silverback, you own it. The company offered to take it back but I would have to repackage it in boxes and secure it to a pallet. I got rid of the boxes and pallet shortly after getting the grill so not much of an option and they told me if the grill was damaged in the return process I would be responsible.....no thanks, not worth the risk. So the best I can do is try to sell it for a huge loss or do what I plan to do which is to change my garbage silverback controller with a recteq controller. I think I will have a decent grill when I do that, but the overall cost will be way more than if I just bought the RT-590 to start with. Lesson learned.
I would ! I'd get the alpha like you did ! I love the build of it and how easily it cleans. I rarely have issues with it, and the customer service is far beyond great. The customer service makes me want to stay in the grilla family because I'm sure other companies aren't as understanding and easygoing.
Not to mention food comes out pretty great! I've only had 1 cook that was trash after a few days, but oddly was good on day 1 and that was a brisket which was all on me. I had a choice brisket and I didn't trim it well. Too much Silver skin on it, and I took off too much fat I think. We live and learn though. Ill only get prime for brisket from now on.
Mr Jones theres not alot of content on the Gorilla Grills you do great job of demonstrating grill. Now that you have had it for over a year are there any other pellet grills that you like with similar foot print. I believe the main grate is 26 x 19.5. I like the simplicity and durability of the Gorilla, cabinet is nice. One feature they offer is the add on drip rail accesorie, keep front of grill clean along with moisture going back into chamber and adding more integrity to the lid. What was the problem you had with lid when you seasoned your grill, it had gap on right side. Keep up the good work
Thanks man I appreciate a lot. Yea I'll likely make another video simply talking about pros and cons for I don't think I covered that in detail, but yea there was a gap on the front of the lid. The gap was about 1 inch or so wide and it allowed a lot of heat/smoke out of the front of the grill and not out the smoke stack. I was able to make modifications to it to minimize that so now the gap is almost nonexistent, but it's there still because smoke will still flow out of the front. As far as other pellet Smokers like the Silverbac could be the rec tecs, campshefs, even traeger. The main thing I'll say is that I don't know much of anything about any other pellets grill other than that the build quality and warranty doesn't come close to that of grilla grills. Before you buy anything I'd definitely recommend doing some research to find out all pros and cons of the grills you want so you get the best bang for your buck.
Shenanigans With Mr. Jones did Grilla not offer to fix the issue that caused the gap? I am looking at getting one soon and if that’s something I’d have to do to an 800.00 grill, I’m out lol...
Rec tec is way better Made. Holds temperature great.. No fire in hopper. Best customer service i have ever seen. They are in a different class. Just better made. I have the rt-700 bull.
Any metal left outside, especially, where he lives where it snows, or has a ton of moisture is going to have some rust happen. It actually looks decent for a year in that climate.
That’s a lot of smoke coking out of a pellet grill. I usually don’t see that from pellet grills. I’ve been keeping an eye on this one since it’s $799 shipped.
That's the smoke from the start up, it would not cook like that the whole time. I've had mine for almost 1 year and love cooking on it. I have had a few problems but the customer service from that company is GREAT. They either called or emailed me back with in 1 hour.
When you say a lot of the issues are you're fault. Wow, What a under statement. The burn pot and the area around it is shameful. Great video for how not to take care of a pellet smoker. I feel so sorry for that Grilla grill..
@@econrey I don't critique. I call it as I see it. It was a video. Right? You want to learn from me? Ok then. I take care of everything I own to perfection. (No i'm not perfect.) Yea no problem at all man. This is what I wish all cooks would do. We always see nice clean grills and that's never the case after maybe 2 or 3 long cooks without the cover on. Anywho I'll be having a full cleaning coming up again where I try to clean up the inner barrel of the sb
Great man I think you're making a great choice. One thing I want to make sure you're aware of is there is no way to cook directly. There are some pellets out there that can, but many can be pricey. That is my main 1 and only gripe about my SilverBac.
Yes sir he does. I had posted on the grilla page using the bkf, and was wondering what to use on all other parts of the grill. He had said that weiman stainless steel cleaner could be used on the black parts. I used that and dude its night and day. All the black parts now have a satin like finish that looks beautiful. I highly recommend trying that out.
Poor Neglected/Mistreated Smoker. 😢.
Does having a double wall really make a difference on colder days ?

So essentially, it;s just going to be an update video essentially?
Is it safe to cook if your heat shield has rust on it? Meat never touches the heat deflector
do you still have the grill, if so how is it working?

Pit Boss sells a Pellet Grill Spray Cleaner that you can pick up at your local Lowes...
