    I came to the same conclusion as you did, it boosts the creativity because you can (try to) adjust a setting on the fly and if it doesn't work you just click the knob and reset it. While with mouse/keyboard we all to tent to get bored to try adjusting a setting...

      Absolutely! Something about the tactile way of editing that just feels that bit more creative and 'direct' almost. The only frustrating thing is the 'barrier to entry' :D My loupedeck is now always under my desk and I am usually too lazy to get it out, dust it and plug it in, but then again I am rarely editing photos these days!

      Yea, we wanted one for so long because it just looked sooo sick. Thanks a lot man, really appreciate it as always ❤️ It was a tough one to decide whether or not to recommend, because it is great, it has helped creativity, it has made editing faster, which is all amazing, but it's not essential! I'm actually super keen to try the Loupedeck CT for video - that looks next level!

    Really good point about ignoring the numbers. I was listening to your video while editing on mine and I agree - you can ignore how high you're pushing the shadows or how low you're pulling the highlights. If it looks good on screen that's what you want. Before using LD I sometimes used to cover the slider with my hand and waggle the control so I forgot where the zero point was and then just set what looked good.

    • @TRIOStories
      @TRIOStories  3 роки тому

      That's a great alternative actually! I completely agree that not seeing the sliders, especially when pulling back highlights or bringing back shadows especially ended up being an unexpected game changer for me.
      Thanks for your comment and hope you're enjoying the editing!

Looking forward to getting stuck into it after xmas decorations are up! I’ve had a Loupedeck since it’s inception. It makes editing with LR far more creative, accurate, fast - and pleasurable. It’s the proverbial game-changer. I could never go back to mouse and sliders - UGH!

    • @TRIOStories
      @TRIOStories  3 роки тому +1

      Nice, yea we definitely agree. It’s been like a 30% speed increase for me I would say but I don’t use it religiously for every project so I’m definitely not getting the most out of it. But creatively, 100% a game changer. Have you tried the Loupedeck CT?

    • @samkanter25
      @samkanter25 3 роки тому +2

      No CT for me - too pricey, and LD+ does all I need. I only use with LR, occasionally with PS. For me it’s not about speed (I do street photography for art’s sake, and am in no rush). It’s about the sheer pleasure of editing with tactile buttons and knobs. My muscle memory knows where they are by now, I don’t have to look. The customization is incredible!

      Hey, I'm just coming back to this thing after a couple of years collecting dust. I updated the Loupedeck software, made sure my PS app was the only one installed (I had PS Beta installed previously) and that I had all the latest Adobe updates installed. For some reason, the software will not apply a default set of functions, even just matching the labels printed on the unit itself.
      I have begun assigning functions manually, but only the ones that are activated by pressing the nob actually do anything. For example, the shadows and highlights knobs will add a levels adjustment layer, turning either of the knobs left or right has any effect whatsoever. I put it aside thinking that by the time I got back to it, the software would have been sorted.
      Is there some "duh" solution that I'm missing? Did they have a problem with shipping out defective units that I'm not aware of? Or could you point me in the direction of someone who might be able to help me with this problem?

    Hi, cool review.
    How does the Loupedeck deal with the alternate viewmodes that are enabled by pressing alt, if you're using keyboard and mouse? I use those all the time, when setting the white point and the amount of sharpening. On mouse + keyboard they only activate once you hold down the slider. Does that mean they flicker on and off, when you use the corresponding dial on the loupedeck?

    • @TRIOStories
      @TRIOStories  3 роки тому

      Hey Michael! Thank you for the kind words.
      That's a really good question. The Loupedeck is fully programmable, but to be honest I am not sure whether you could programme this sort of 'function' to it to work reliably. Not sure on this one!

      @@TRIOStories She mainly does photography; weddings, quinceañeras, baptisms, graduations, etc. It started as a hobby and she eventually got the courage to charge for her work. She has done a bit of video but wants to start doing more of it.
      Last year she quit her job in the public sector to do full-time dog training, so photography is in the back burner, but she wants to continue doing video of dog events, like dog sports and bite work training, in order to incorporate it to her business social media profiles.
      She does all her editing in an HP laptop, Core i7 10th gen processor, so you can imagine how slow it is. I'm currently working on building her an editing workstation station and I should have all the components by the end of next month. It'll be a huge improvement over what she has right now, but I also want to surprise her with something like the Loupedeck in order to help with her workflow (I hear this a lot in these videos).
      I've been watching a lot of videos so I'm basing my choice on whatever appears to give me more bang for my buck. Since I don't do this type of work myself, I'm not really sure what sort of features I need to be looking for, which are overkill, unnecessary, etc.
