Making Commercials look like Hollywood - Cinematic Short Film Sony A7S3

This is the second commercial, from a set of 3 that we created for Ecoflow, for the product release of the River 2 Pro power station. Unlike most product launches, particularly for tech, we wanted to create this Cinematic Short Film. With this film, we built on a small 'universe' that we created, with each of the regions, having their own Doctor, Professor or some kind of 'hero' to introduce th...
How to Film Cinematic Rolling Car Footage... hypothetically

This is completely theoretical but let's say you wanted to get some cinematic rolling car shots and epic car b-roll, and to do this you sat in the boot or trunk of another moving vehicle... well this is how we would do it. We shot this amazing VW Caddy getting some epic b roll and anamorphic flaring footage of it speeding along the highway. This is a quick and dirty guide on how to shoot car fi...

how do you spinning like this using the zhiyun q4? 01:33
Can I use the vortex mode in my Zhiyun smooth Q4?If yes then How can I use it?
Hey! Yes, your Q4 definitely can do Vortex mode. It should just be available, as you cycle the different modes with the Mode button. It should say 'V'. You can see how to change the different modes here, on page 10: zhiyun-website-shenzhen.oss-cn-shenzhen.aliyuncs.com/instruction/20220524/1653358831641-eyreh47T.pdf Hope this helps! :)
can this be used for livestream to facebook or youtube via the smartphone? no one seems to be talking about this aspect
Hey! Yes it can, both the Cineview Nano and the SeeMo and SeeMo 4K are great and super easy to use for live streaming
I must've watched 50-60 videos/shorts on cine and anamorphic lenses today - this is the best advert for a lens I've seen by a long, long distance. As soon as it finished I wanted to go out and film something myself... unfortunately it's 1:30am. The fact so many people in the comments can't understand it all being shot on 75mm, is a big compliment too. Instant sub
Thank you SO much for this lovely comment. This put a huge smile on our faces and means so much to us. We do absolutely love the lens and the quality vs price ratio is really spot on. So glad you enjoyed it and thank you for subscribing. We hope to continue making content you love in the future!
@@TRIOStories my pleasure! I'm curious which version of the 75mm you're shooting on - the Venus or the Saturn? And which filter you use?
@@waingro725 I just got back to you on this via email :D
A movie that has no tripod shot might be Birdman or 1917. Birdman won an oscar for best film but 1917 got oscars for other categories.
Oooh correct Birdman didn’t use a tripod. Still not 100% sure on 1917 though. I think they used a tripod in some shots, but not certain.
@@TRIOStoriesMaybe tbh. Your point still stands but for some reason when I heard your prompt those two films came to mind. It is basically none to few movies can pull off great visuals with no tripod 😅
Yeaa we completely didn’t think of Birdman. I’ll try to find the Chat GPT answer for you… I can’t remember what film it said 😂
Nooo, I can’t find it and when I search for it again, it’s not giving me the same answer 😂 my fault for trusting AI
@@TRIOStories lmaoo
Good tripod got me so much work starting out working for other people
Absolutely! We definitely regret not getting a solid, video tripod sooner.
One of the greatest films of all time didn't use a tripod-1917. Tripods are great when the film is driven by dialogue.
Of course we actually researched this and found that there are a couple of hidden tripod shots but I can’t find the examples now, so maybe I was wrong. Nevertheless tripods, are great in so many cases!
That’s an expensive tripod,😮
Tripods are crazy in terms of price range. I mean you can pick one up for like $20, $200, $2000 and $10,000. In terms of a proper video tripod, this is a very affordable one. The cheapest Sachtler with a fluid head will cost at least $850 so around double the price of the SQ75. But of course - this is all relative and dependant on your needs, $500 is still a lot of cash to spend!
bravo 👏
Thank you so much! :)
❤
❤️🙏🏼
Wow❤
😍😍😍
Love my tripod. I need to be convinced to not shoot from sticks
Oooh there’s a challenge for us… next up 5 handheld shots 😂
NGL i love my SQ75 Tripod
Right! Us too - we didn't know how much we needed one until we got it!
Excellent video! And I love set design!
So glad you enjoyed Radek 🙏🏼❤️ hehe thank you!
Now do a momopod video.
I used to love using Monopods - very similar shot ideas but we can make one if you like! We don’t shoot with them much anymore.
Fantastic.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the vid.
Wait...I was duped into watching a tripod commercial? That's ok, still enjoyed watching.
Hehe ooops! So glad you enjoyed it anyway ☺️ thanks for watching!
Set design game on fleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek. That top down shot is the sauceeee
hehehe too kind thank you thank you - we've missed chatting to you dude. Twitter turning into X was the worst. We need to stay in touch, love seeing what you're doing!
I hecking love tripods! Stabilize your shot, stabilize your life.
😂 hahaha love. Where there is tripod, there is peace
Rumple... Stiltskin!!! 🤣🤣 guys, not only did you inspire me with different tripod views/ideas. but you gave me my laugh for the week... Mr Stiltskin, how hilarious! another fantastic video you guys. epic work.
Hahaha so glad Calvin 😂😂 🙏🏼 so grateful for you
Like for Android😊
Will buy it
Can it record in 10bit or 12bit 1080p?
No the Cineview Nano isn’t for actually recording! It records an 8-bit like code just for preview. If you would like a dedicated recorder, the Accsoon SeeMo 4K records 4K directly to your phone :)
i couldn’t do the “around the world” would you explain it pls
It is quite tricky to do. You have to try it multiple times to get a good result. As you orbit the object with the gimbal, you also have to be turning the gimbal in your hands. It’s quite complicated 😂 I actually use 2 hands for this so I can go all the way around. I hope this was more helpful!
@ thanks a lot 🙏
Interesting shots!
Thanks so much 🙏🏼☺️
Great video and tutorial. Well done.
Thanks so much Sarunas! We were really happy with how this came out and it was a lot of fun to do too. So glad you enjoyed the video.
nice color grading
Thank you so much! Really appreciate you watching 😊❤️
I too have always wanted a Fiat 126 😂
Honestly, REALLY need to buy one 😂 they are getting quite expensive though!
Great times, can we do it again? :) Lots of practical tips, great video as always!
Hahaha I can’t stop thinking about the fact that this is how we met so long ago. It’s criminal how long it’s taken me to put this together 😂😂😂 we miss you!
very awesome my friends - i like the flow of the story, and the adventure that unfolded. i can certainly see your evolution as film makers - but this was a-may-ziiing! you guys are epic. very excellent work.
Thanks so much Calvin! Sooo glad you’re on this journey with us - it feels so special that you’ve seen our evolution as filmmakers. We really appreciate you! ❤️
good morning!! oh my word, you two, this is the inspiration and the talking to i needed for this grey, dark and rainy Monday morning. some awesome tips, and some interesting behind the scenes there... i look forward to being able to see the finished film. you overcome problems so well... i know all i do is fall apart - loudly!!! 🤣 you guys are amaaaaazing, truly. inspirational. oh errrrr next time you use a scooter.... just be EXTRA careful (i held my breath!) - mind you if i was on a scooter with someone else, it would not move, and the scooter would insist i get off 🤣🤣
Hahaha, the scooter was definitely not happy with us. This was actually from a couple of years ago now. The film is on our channel - it’s called The Speed Date ☺️ we’ve come a long way since then but still pretty proud of it. It’s so bad that we only just got round to editing this BTS video 😂 but I am pretty pleased with myself as it was my first proper edit in Davinci. There’s a few mistakes for sure, but I’ll get there!
@@TRIOStories ahh, mistakes help us grow. don't be worrying about that - trying to learn and remember new things, can take time. take it easy on yourself. i will go have a look for this video, ty. be proud of your journey, every step you take leads to growth and every time you will learn new bits. you should absolutely be proud of all that you have achieved, up to now, and beyond :)
@@Calvin.The.Unfindable You are a legend Calvin. Thank you so much for all of your constant support <3
Love this so relatable on set! Glad you got to make your short and love the BTS

Wonderful!
Thanks so much 🙏🏼
Subbed again!
oh hello! :D Don't we know you from somewhere 👀
@@TRIOStories LOL. Could be...!
This was totally inspiring and fun to watch. Hope the film is streaming somewhere soon!
Heey, so glad you enjoyed it! :) The film was actually made for a premiere of a Xiaomi smartphone and was released a while ago. You can watch the full film here: ua-cam.com/video/DrhPjMhmWbo/v-deo.htmlsi=bmz_AfDxfaBkfzcV
@@TRIOStories Just watched it! So much fun and so well made. Cheers to you both!
those frkn monkeys 🤣
I love seeing how you guys always overcome unexpected adversities! 💪
Except for when we tried to film in the forest the other day 😂 that was a write off
Really appreciate what feels like a genuineness to your approach to us. Thanks.
Thanks so much 🙏🏼 that really means a lot
Great problem solving guys! I'm releasing a short test film soon. Not a great story, just trying a mobile rig and some vfx.
Oooh exciting! Looking forward to seeing it!
If the production of a short film goes smoothly… was it don’t right 😂
Never! 😂
Wasted my time watching this video. Please delete this. 😢
Wow! Fantastic Color grading! This Lens seems to be really good! Thanks for making this Video. Great insides! I want to have this Lens :) Knowing that it's possible now to use this Lens with Lidar Autofocus makes me want to try this Combo. Also with the Creator Shoulder Rig Combo with the FX3. The thing with the Aspect Ratio is this. You called it: a nice inbetween, but your amazing looking Paris Video is 2.8:1 Even Cinema is not that wide. Most Movies produced for Cinema have 2.4:1 Aspect Ratio. It's so wide because of the 16:9 Sensor you filmed with. 4:3 Sensors produce a less wide Result at the End. More and more Movies produced for Netflix and other Streaming Services have 2:1 Aspect Ratio. Edit: Tarantino used a 2.76 : 1 Aspect Ratio for The hateful 8. But this wide Aspect ratio is Rare in Cinema. What the Lady said was also a really good Point: the best Film making is when you don't noticing the Film making.
Thanks so much for your awesome comment! Yeah, we're loving our Sirui Anamorphics. They will work great with Lidar and what's more, the price to quality ratio is really good. They are of course not perfect, but given how affordable they are - honestly they are an amazing entry point into the anamorphic world. We are also VERY excited to shoot something with them, once we have access to an open-gate camera. Really hoping that the FX3 Mk II or A7SIV comes out and has this feature :) Oh and final note - Sal is the wisest :) Thank you again for dropping by on our vid Claudio!
The 70.3 ait really the iron man though, but doesnt take away your work!
Yea I can’t imagine doing the full thing!
In other words no way around it other than introduce mechanical shutter? Thought there would be some Hz v shutter duration play.
Yeah, I have tried testing with some different shutter speeds and the banding can look different, but it is mostly still there. It appears that there is no other, reliable way around it I'm afraid :(
@@TRIOStories Thank you. Have you tried with lights like Adaptalux and changing these LED frequencies? EDIT: They claim it can be overcome.
@@killpop8255 Oh yeah, the problem doesn't happenwhen using proper video lights, but that's unfortunately not possible when shooting something like a wedding and having to deal with all sorts of tungsten/floro fixtures :( Since this video, I've actually used 95% mechanical shutter, just because I prefer not to risk it
@@TRIOStories That is very helpful since I was wondering about banding with very high magnification under bright LED's where each final shot would be many stacked images - likely in the 100's for each shot. Hence worry about my expensive camera and it's shutter and wanting no mechanical involvement. Do you know why it doesn't happen with 'proper' lights? Or what should I be searching for, such as key phrase?
@@killpop8255 We honestly wouldn't be able to say specifically. We are using Nanlite panels mostly for our work and they seem to be okay, but I haven't actually tested it with a wide enough range of other lights to know why it's okay with a certain type of light and not with others. Sorry for not being able to help more :(
Who stands like that when shooting? Feel this channel is a joke more for laughs than quality content
😂 he’s sitting on a chair because there’s no room and he needs a wider frame… and nope, we make quality content and banter 🫠
Very good video, greetings ❤
So glad you like it! :) Sending our best to you
Beautiful video
Thank you so much! Really glad you enjoyed the video
I feel not entirely shot with 75mm .. seems 24mm or 35mm lenses too coz I have all anamorphic lenses from sirui.. also you forgot to mention the filters i guess. If im wrong then my apologies
Hey Rahul! Thanks so much for watching and for your comment. We don't actually own any other Anamorphic lens other than the Sirui 75mm so this was definitely ALL shot with that one lens :) With regards to filters - they were our AMAZING Formatt Hitech Firecrest Ultras.
@@TRIOStories great shots for one lens 👏 and great work.
Am gonna follow this steps
Great! Best of luck with your build out. We would love to see the transformation once it's done :) Thanks so much for watching
@@TRIOStories the tips in your video are Very helpful,,so will follow them in trying to make it nice,, thanks a lot

Can I mirror my camera screen with this? Meaning can I record my screen showing settings, focus, photo count etc, basically mirror my camera screen exactly. Thanks
Hey! Yes you can, but I think it might depend on the camera brand. For Sony, the option to feed the settings through HDMI is in the menu and you can turn it on or off.
